Chapter 65 Slaughter
Butchering the remains of the Boar's corpse felt just like dissecting a frog's body. It looked quite similar as well.
Ludwig and Olivia had once dissected a frog in biology. That had already been disgusting enough for Ludwig to vomit his breakfast on that day, and for Olivia to barely stop herself from throwing up.
Things were changing quite quickly now that it was the fourth day of the Arcane Apocalypse. In the last 72 hours too many things had changed, including the lives of everyone on Haltan.
The entire planet had turned upside down, forcing everyone to adjust or to die miserably.
Liam willed the Arcane Kunai to butcher the corpse of the boar neatly, while he pointed out a few things that could be useful to his ducklings.
"Since I doubt that you guys care much about the boar's body parts, I will keep my explanation short. A boar's meat is usually lean and a good alternative to pork. It is low in fat, high in protein, and rich in other minerals.
A boar's bones are strong and durable, which makes them useful for a variety of purposes. Think about the purposes yourself. Their tendons are very good for traditional medicine related to joint pain and other ailments. Of course, that may only be related to the Boars in the Overworld, but keep it in mind, nonetheless.
Their muscles are packed with flavor and you can use them for stews or soups to add flavor and texture. As for the fat of boars, it can be rendered and used as cooking oil, or to make soap and candles, though I doubt that the latter will be of any help for you guys in the future."
Once Liam finished his explanation of the important parts of a boar's body with respect to nutrition, medicine, and other uses without wasting anything, he waited for them to comment. But they only looked at him weirdly.
Liam ignored the natives' gazes and he began to speak about a few other things that had to be taken into consideration.
This included the attack pattern of beings like Lesser Demons. Despite being weak, they were very social-interactive existences. One might not expect this from the Lesser Demons because many weird rumors about them existed, but that was a different matter. The vast majority of Lesser Demons were trained in some Basic Demon Combat Techniques that had been created by the most intelligent, and strongest beings of their race.
However, since Ordinary Shedim, for example, were not able to comprehend most contents of the technique, they were not able to exhibit a high percentage of the Basic Demon Combat Technique's true prowess. Most Ordinary Shedim were only able to move in a specific manner due to the technique they had learned.
They wouldn't roam around wildly and would simply attack with the use of their wild instincts. As for the Elite Shedim and Mutant Elite Shedim, they were able to execute a higher percentage of the combat technique of the Shedim.
Mutant Elite Shedim were a little bit different in that regard since they were mutants and usually in possession of more combat talent and instincts that allowed them to move more freely, not being limited solely to and relying heavily on the combat technique they had learned.
That was pretty important in Liam's opinion, which was also why he shared it with Ludwig and the other natives. Other than that, Liam didn't share a lot of important things. He was pretty sure that he had shared more than his money's worth, which was why he got up from the ground and made his way to the plateau that lay behind the maze.
Before entering the maze, Liam had seen the plateau where many black dots seemed to be gathered and roaming around haphazardly. Those black dots were a massive number of Ordinary Shedim and more than a hundred Elite Shedim, which Liam and the natives noticed quickly as they finished the last hurdles through the maze.
The plateau they ended up on after passing through the maze was hundreds of meters in width and close to a hundred meters in length. That was more than enough space for the hundred of Lesser Demons to gather even if it was a little bit crowded.
"How about you guys show me how much stronger you've gotten in these past few days?" Liam asked rhetorically, not expecting too much from the natives as he shot forward. Not waiting for an answer, he retrieved more than ten Black Tarthear Needles at a time and threw them at the closest Ordinary Shedim.
With his Soultrait activated, and his mind fully focused on a smooth repetition of his needle throws, Liam ended up releasing more than fifty needles before he came in contact with the Shedim. His hands turned into long claws while the Arcane Kunai shot out from behind him.
The Lesser Relic moved extremely fast, piercing through more than ten Ordinary Shedim before it returned to Liam, who threw it out once again.
After the enhancement of the Xaltalite Whetstone, the Arcane Kunai turned into an indestructible blade that cut through every opponent Liam targeted. It was near-impossible for the Ordinary Shedim to do anything against the Arcane Kunai as the weapon could fly much faster than the Shedim could react.
Even the Elite Shedim began to face problems blocking the attacks of the Arcane Kunai. Their claws were not strong or sharp enough to block or slice through the razor-sharp blade of the Arcane Kunai after it had been enhanced.
Only the Mutant Elite Shedim were able to do something against the Arcane Kunai. They could move fast enough to block the Lesser Relic. Unfortunately, this required their full focus, and even then it was not possible for them to always block the attacks.
Sometimes, the Arcane Kunai flipped all of a sudden, taking them by surprise. It made a sudden change in its trajectory, or a Black Tarthear Needle hit them, distracting the Mutant Elite Shedim, which inevitably caused their death in the long run.
However, Liam didn't leave all the fun to the Arcane Kunai and the Black Tarthear Needles. It was too boring to let his weapons do all the work, after all. He was willing to join the battle, which was exactly what he did. His claw sliced through the vital spots of the Lesser Demons. They tore through the Shedim's flesh, heart, and skull, ending their opponents in the blink of an eye.
Liam didn't even think of showing any mercy as he ruthlessly gutted the opponents that were attacking him from the side. He even pierced one of his opponents with the black horn that jutted out of his forehead. The body of the Ordinary Shedim that was daring enough to come too close to him was tossed around like a toy, while Liam's movements were getting wilder.
As for his eyes, they were shining in ecstasy, glimmering like a bright galaxy.
