Chapter 149 Deal
"I will add the term that you'll pay for your own meals. You eat more than our entire group can feast on in an entire week…" Liam complained quietly.
Claire Orion had her sixth or the seventh refill of food, but her stomach continued to grumble. Thus, he handed out more well-preserved food he had stored in the Storage Rune.
Feeding her was his task as Claire's master but given that she would earn her own money soon enough, Liam didn't even think twice before he pushed his responsibilities onto her.
He paid 12,000 Arcanium to buy her in order to make a fortune, not to run himself into debt because of a starving Were-Tiger that could eat a whole damn pig!
"That's fine. I won't allow anyone to pay for my needs! Once I accumulate enough Arcanium, I will pay back the debt I owe you as well!" Claire Orion declared pridefully while switching from one empty plate to a plate overflowing with meat.
Liam didn't like the way she acted because there was literally no reason for her to keep up her prideful attitude, but he left her be. As long as she provided the promised results, he couldn't care less.
"Alright. Then let's finish the contract before you return to work. You can just listen to the terms pointed out and mention if you find something you don't like," Liam said while pointing on a piece of paper. He channeled some Arcane Power inside the paper, manifesting countless letters that swirled through the air and around Party A, and Party B of the contract.
"Even though you are my Slave, I won't restrict your freedom unnecessarily. You will receive 10% of the profits made from your products. Until you pay back the debt you owe me, without missing a single Arcanium, you will officially be considered the Slave of Liam Wandel, aka me. Party A won't ask his Slave to do something inappropriate and he won't humiliate her needlessly. In exchange, Party B will obey her master's commands, and respect him. She will pay for her own needs an–..." Liam Wandel was not even mid-way through the summary of the terms they came up with when Claire Orion intervened.
"Don't bother with all those explanations! Why is there nothing written about my Clanmates?!?" She asked demandingly. Liam's lips twitched and his hands were about to transform when he took a deep breather.
"If you agree to a smaller profit share, I can reconsider adding a clause about your Clanmates into the contract. However, if you want me to buy your Clanmates, they will also owe me a debt. They will also be my slaves until they paid their debt back fully. Do you understand that?" Liam explained, his eyes dead serious.
The royal purple in his eyes seemed to stare deep into Claire's soul, and she momentarily forgot how to eat.
She was still not sure what kind of person Liam was. It was quite obvious that he was a Devil, but at the same time, he was not. Claire couldn't really explain it herself but something about Liam seemed off.
Other slave masters wouldn't even bother feeding their slaves until they were filled, forgetting about setting up a contract that gave Claire the right to buy back her freedom.
She knew that asking for Liam's help was a little over the top, but he was the only one she could ask for help. It was not as if anyone else would bother listening to her. Who was she supposed to ask for help, in the first place? There was nobody!
"That's totally fine! Even if you take away my entire profit share, I won't complain as long as you help me. Please!!" She cried out, exposing her true feelings for the first time.
It was not difficult to tell that Claire's prideful attitude from earlier was only a farce to hide her real emotions, her desperation, and the fear of the unknown.
"Idiot. If I take away your whole profit share, I will have to pay for your food and other necessities. You will only go deeper into debt, and you won't be able to pay back what you owe," Liam said. He leaned forward and flicked her forehead lightly.
Seeing her head pop backward was enough to form a slim smile on his face. This idiotic girl was a piece of work but she seemed loyal to her Clanmates. In return, that also meant she was loyal to him as long as he helped her out. The more Were-Tiger he held in his hand, the easier it would be to control Claire Orion.
Were-Tiger were also great assets. Their combat power was pretty high. It wouldn't be a loss if he helped Claire a little. Her gratitude would turn into trust and loyalty, which would then lead to a simple result; she would try her best to repay her gratitude by producing the best possible Armaments and Weapons.
'With Transformation, Material Appraisal, and her knowledge of Enchantments, she should be able to produce Artifacts as long as she studies a little more. If I can equip everyone with several Artifacts, while creating a constant stream of high-quality goods to sell, I will have a much easier time earning enough Arcanium to purchase the necessary resources for my Bloodline Awakening!' Liam thought while feeling as if someone punched in his stomach.
Thinking about the enormous price he had to pay for the Bloodline Awakening was enough to cause constipation.
"Then…please give me five perce–...no, please give me 2.5% profit share…that should be enough!" Claire Orion said, changing her stance quickly. She didn't want anyone to pay for her needs, but she required Liam's help as well. Asking for too much would put him off while asking too little was likely to put her into a bad financial situation.
Fortunately, she was confident in her Soultrait and Bloodline Power. Their synergy was exceptional, and her products were always exceptional. Claire was aware of her lack of talent in reducing ores to ingots with high a high degree of purity, but that was something others could solve while she focused on the things, she was good at.
Her weapons were always worth a small fortune. She could earn back her freedom as long as she worked hard, and Liam could rescue her Clanmates in no time!
'I am the smartest. Let's go!' She shouted in her heart, signing the contract less than half an hour later once everything had been confirmed.
Liam was still a little baffled how stupid the heiress of the Orion Clan could be, but it was not as if that was bad for him. Her Soultrait and Bloodline Power were great, and she was loyal. That was all that mattered!
The members of the Orion Clan would still be considered his slaves after he purchased them. His investment would have to be paid back with hard work, and various gains on his side.
"By the way, my Bloodline's Flaw is that I will lose the ability to see for a while. The longer I use Material Appraisal in one sitting, the longer I will be blind. The effect strikes me randomly within 24 hours after I used my Bloodline Power," Claire explained suddenly.
She was finally done eating and ended up putting all plates on top of each other, creating a small tower. Her voice and the way she acted made it seem as if she was speaking about the weather or some other unimportant topic. However, Liam's ears perked up.
"How long will you stay blind? Like what is the longest and shortest time you've turned blind as the aftereffect of using your Bloodline Power?" He asked in a serious tone, but Claire just gave it a shrug.
"Usually, it's not that long. Maybe five to ten minutes? The longest was two hours, I think."
Since Liam was bound to find out the flaw of her Bloodline Power either way, she didn't think of hiding it. Telling Liam about the Flaw was a necessity because he might reconsider helping her out, but Claire couldn't find herself telling him about it before their contract was completed.
She was too desperate for his help and thought that her Bloodline Power's Flaw would harm their deal.
"If it's only that long, it doesn't matter. I will pay attention to the Flaw once we leave this place. Moving around a blind person would be bothersome," Liam merely said, before he accessed the Arcane Shop.
It was time to purchase a few goods to make sure that Claire's power could be abused to the fullest.
He wanted to earn back his investment, after all!
'Huh? He doesn't care?'
