Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Qiao Weimin was embarrassed when he found out that Jing Yunzhao had nothing to do with those gangsters, so he tried to save face when he heard that one of the gangsters was still at large.
Instead of getting angry, Jing Yunzhao started laughing when she heard what Qiao Weimin said.
She figured that Qiao Weimin might use this against her, so she had borrowed the phone in the teachers’ office and contacted Physician Gan right before they had set off for the police station.
She was lucky that Physician Gan had given her his number, or she would never have been able to explain herself.
“Please wait a bit longer, the person that I was with in the morning should be here soon,” said Jing Yunzhao. An old man approached her quickly not long after she spoke.
“So you were with Physician Gan,” Ms. Kim heaved a sigh of relief and said.
“This is Physician Gan Songbo, he works at the hospital in town. He has an outstanding reputation and there is no way that he would lie. I bumped into Physician Gan when I arrived at town this morning, and since I am interested in medical skills, I followed him to the herb market. Does Physician Gan look like a gangster to you, Qiao Weimin?” Jing Yunzhao introduced Physician Gan and asked coolly.
Not expecting the person she was with to be Physician Gan, Qiao Weimin became so embarrassed that his face turned red.
“Ah, it’s you, Mr. Qiao. I will be blunt since this is not the first time we are meeting. I saw the prescription this little girl provided and confirmed that it could be helpful for your wife’s condition. I thought you were quite unreasonable when you refused to give that prescription a try, but it seems that you are not only heartless towards your wife, but also to your child,” Gan Songbo said unhappily.
A life had been lost because of Qiao Weimin’s stubbornness.
Now that Gan Songbo had confirmed Jing Yunzhao’s statement, there was no way that Qiao Weimin could make anything up no matter how smooth-tongued he was.
Though Qiao Weimin still believed that Jing Yunzhao was lying, he could only drop the matter since he had no evidence to back up his statement.
Qiao Weimin began to sulk and wanted to leave since things were not going his way but before he could, the school principal took him to the town committee who wished to review Qiao Weimin’s guardianship of Jing Yunzhao.
Ningxiangzhen was a small district in Huaningxian where things were rather simple. With the school’s intervention, a decision was quickly made after the committee listened to the whole story.
The committee declared that Qiao Weimin would not be considered Jing Yunzhao’s stepfather anymore.
Everything was settled before Qiao Weimin could say anything, and a letter of termination of guardianship was quickly drafted and stamped.
“So you are denying me as your father? Very well! Don’t come home from this day onwards!” Qiao Weimin shouted and stormed out of the police station.
Jing Yunzhao heaved a sigh of relief when Qiao Weimin left.
The problems arising from Jing Yunzhao’s guardianship were finally taken care of in this life, and it would be almost impossible for Qiao Weimin to act as presumptuously towards Jing Yunzhao as he did in her previous life.
Prepared to leave the Qiao Family at any time, Jing Yunzhao had hidden all her belongings in her secret space earlier including the few clothes she had bought with the money that she earned. The rest of her clothes were Qiao Hongye’s old clothes and there was no way that she would continue to wear them.
She would stay in the school accommodation during weekdays, and maybe spend the night in her secret space during weekends. It was a big space after all and it would be big enough to accommodate her.
