Chapter 67: Fragmented Memories Resurfaces
*********
LOCATION: CHEVALIER MANOR
HEADMASTER'S OFFICE
'Godd*mn it! Just what the heck those people are doing and there's no progress about Ezekiel's whereabouts for the past few days?!'
Altron became more anxious as days went by without any report or progress about Ezekiel's whereabouts.
The knight who reported back to them about the situation that happened, Altron ordered him to search for the maid named Nariana because of her involvement to Ezekiel way back then, even if that's the only time that both the maid Nariana and Ezekiel had met.
'However, the reports came about that maid from the other servants and butlers stated that Nariana applied for a leave a week ago because she needs to go back at her hometown to deliver some medicines for her sick little brother.'
From the initial investigation about the maid, Altron couldn't find anything suspicion about her, even though the First Young Master's instinct couldn't be wrong.
He knew that there was something odd about that maid Nariana when Ezekiel mentioned something about [loyalty] or something, for as long as he remembered but he somehow managed to decipher the hidden message from that statement before.
'A high possibility that Nariana might be a spy, or she is truly a spy thought since her clean background that I couldn't overlooked with it.'
If she were a spy then, there is a high chance that she's involved with Ezekiel's current situation.
'Just where is he right now? I don't want to think that….'
Altron shook off his head as he didn't want to think that would be Ezekiel's end.
'Also, I don't believe that he would die like that since that's not what I keep on dreaming about him these past few days ago.'
Those scenarios that keeps on appearing within his dreams are still the dreams that played over and over again with the same scenarios and the same dialogues at the same time.
'The more I dreamed about those scenarios, the more I became anxious and not only that, because of Ezekiel's sudden disappearance, I don't know if I would still keep on dreaming the same thing all over again.'
He knew that this won't last long since the dreams that he kept on dreaming are the possible future events that would take place.
< ….. "You have questions. I get it. However, I should warn you that everything you will learned from here, utilize everything you have and make a better judgement for you to learn the whole truth." ... >
Those are the words that Altron couldn't forget about it. This so-called truth and judgement that the mysterious voice was speaking of.
'Ha! Just thinking about it again, I couldn't think of anything as I didn't know how to handle the situation back then but thinking about how Ezekiel's so-called future, I don't know what kind of truth that I need to judge.'
He thought as he held his forehead to ease the incoming headache he felt and after that, his eyes went to look at the unfinished documents that was scattered around in front of him and he refrained from shouting out his frustrations.
'Just where in the nine layers of f*cking hell was the Marquis at?! If he is just going to disappear like this then, why not just hand over the title and the leadership of this manor to me immediately?! There are tons of unfinished documents that needs the Marquis' approval! Argh!'
Altron might be the temporary head of the household however, he doesn't have full control or authority within the important affairs related to the Empire itself. There are tons of important documents that needs the Marquis' approval and not from the temporary head.
He is the heir apparent of the Marquis title and the next Patriarch of this household, but he doesn't want to undermine his father's authority even if the said man was out of nowhere and Altron isn't the type of person who would go against to his father's authority.
'I should be thankful that the Marchioness is under house arrest for an indefinite period of time because if she weren't, I'm sure she would abuse the authority within the household because of the Marquis' absence.'
If others had heard what Altron was thinking about, most of them will accuse him of being an unfilial son to their mother but Altron doesn't care about that.
'She might be my mother and the one who gave birth to me, but I won't be like those pesky noble children who only followed their mother's wishes for them.'
If it wasn't for Harrison's strange behavior back then when they were still young, Altron wouldn't be able to see the whole picture of it.
He might be in denial about those unpleasant rumors about the Marchioness back then, but he just pretended that he didn't know, and he doesn't care about it.
However, because of his nonchalant behavior about that particular rumor, his little brother, Ezekiel, suffers the consequences of his ignorance.
He shook off his head to let go of those thoughts and it's already too late for him to feel guilty about it since his little brother already suffered and got traumatized that he didn't want other people to have in contact with him.
Even the Crown Prince, that b*stard tried to make a contact with Ezekiel a few days ago but Altron personally visited the Crown Prince and almost warned him about contacting his little brother in secret.
He almost committed treason for defying the crown, but Altron isn't someone to be pushed around and he didn't like how the Crown Prince is interested in with his little brother.
'If words got out about Ezekiel's sudden disappearance, there is no doubt that sick b*stard would make a use of this situation on his advantage! Tsk!'
If the Crown Prince dared to make a trouble with the Chevaliers, then, Altron wouldn't hesitate to strongly oppose the man with all his might.
'Chevaliers doesn't bow down to anyone. We are the sword and shield of the Empire. We might be loyal to the Crown, but we were mostly loyal to the citizens that our ancestors swore to protect as long as the Chevaliers lives.'
That's the reason why the Chevaliers remained neutral to the succession throne war for generations. They never participated and never supported any princes that came by, even if those princes would threaten the Chevaliers back then but they never let those people take control of them.
However, if the time comes then, Altron might be the first within the Chevaliers to break that oath just to protect Ezekiel from those people that would dare to harm him.
'I just hope that our ancestors would understand my resolved if that happened.'
...…
...…..
......….
A vast darkness surrounded him the moment he opened his eyes and looked around and sighed because he knew that he had entered his dream once more.
He stayed up all night once more to finish some of the documents that he could approve within the best of his authority as the temporary head of the household.
'This is yet another dream and nothing else. I am tired of seeing the same thing over and over again.'
If someone asked him about how he was feeling right now?
If it was those rotten noble b*stards would ask, Altron would just put a façade of a calm and indifferent composure as he politely said he is fine and nothing else to worry about.
However, if he were to be honest, Altron would reply that… he is tired.
He is a human, after all.
He might be an heir apparent and the next Patriarch of the Chevalier household, who were known as the household of war heroes but, at the end of the day, all of them are still human.
'Just let this get over with and let me awake from this dream.'
As he thought of that, he saw the familiar light that flashed through his eyes and he knew for that moment, a familiar scene from the trial courtroom would appear once more and the same scenario and dialogues would be all over the place.
'Just get over with this one already.'
However, before he could think of anything else, Altron noticed that something is different compared to the last time.
Before he can react, the scene in front of him changed and it wasn't in the trial courtroom of Stellarus Empire this time but it's something he is quite familiar with it.
The scene flashed right in front of Altron and what he saw first is the familiar quarters of Ezekiel back at the Chevalier manor away from the main building, the quarters of the deceased Lady Aryna Asterrix.
≤ …. "I thought [she] would accept me for whoever I am. [She] told me that [she] will be at my side no matter what happens. I trusted [her] since she's like that to everyone else but…. Why did [she] betray me?! [She] betrayed me together with those arrogant b*stards! W-why…. J-just why?! A-all… *sob! *sob! …. I-I…. w-want…. w-was…. for them to accept me…" …. ≥
