Chapter 509 A punishment that ended earlier than stipulated
Among the sayings of the common people, there is a very well-known one: Time is something you cannot control, and that is why you must value it.
No one can stop it or control it; the only thing you can do with it is move quickly to achieve your dreams and goals.
Even among powerful people, this is a well-known saying because no one can stop time for an indefinite period. That is why most of the powerful people work most of the time, because when the world is big, dreams and goals are more challenging to achieve.
For those powerful people, time is more pressing than for the weak. Their goals are bigger, so they have to work twice as hard or harder to achieve them. Even more so because there are more people fighting against them to achieve that same goal.
Therefore, wasting time is the greatest sin in this world.
Those who commit such a sin must know how to lower their heads in order to obtain forgiveness from those who will be affected by that decision or simply succumb to the pressure and die in arrogance.
A tall, human man who looked to be in his 40s or 50s was thinking about this as he walked through a long, icy garden on a mountain that was completely covered in ice.
His glamorous manner of dress was splendid, and his clothes possibly cost as much as the fortunes of many successful businessmen in the world. Yet he seemed to attach no importance to this.
His status was so high that it would allow him to walk with his head held high anywhere in the world, and the vast majority of his own kind had to bow to him. But today, his eyes were looking at the ground.
He looked regretful.
Perhaps he had made a mistake and came here to acknowledge it.
After crossing the frozen garden, he came to a small, unadorned house with no people in it. Still, he knew someone was there, so he walked through the small hallways of the house and came to the back.
A familiar sight he had seen many times before entered him. The woman he was looking for was sitting there, playing a strange game of solitary chess.
When the man saw her, he stopped. He was many meters away from her, but getting closer was not an option. Even when he was this woman's Master, she would never allow him to get close.
Charlotte moved a chess piece when he arrived.
"I don't think I have anything to do with you right now." She said suddenly.
The man behind her sighed. Read new chapters at empire
"Your punishment is over, Charlotte."
After hearing this, Charlotte looked at him. "It seems to me that your own inventions have damaged your brain, so I'll refresh your memory." She threw a piece of paper on the floor, which landed at the man's feet there.
He frowned. That paper was the order he had issued, along with the Empire's Hall of Elders, for a closed-door punishment against Charlotte for 5 years for making a grave mistake.
But it had barely been 1 year since it was issued; what was he doing here?
Seeing it, he bent down, grabbed it, and tore it to pieces. At the same time, he bowed to Charlotte.
Perhaps the most powerful man in the current human race was bowing deeply.
"I'm sorry, we made a mistake." His voice sounded soft but firm. "We have decided to lift the punishment since, after investigating, we realized that the mistake was not yours, but that irresponsible guy who didn't even know that the barrier had a defense mechanism."
After saying this and waiting a few minutes, he received no answers, so he bit his teeth and spoke again.
"We will not deny it. The mistake could cost us a great price, and we need your help. Without a proper leader, people won't believe us."Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Saying this, Charlotte finally showed interest as she realized something.
"Oh. Vampire race problems, huh? What happened for you to even come here to apologize?"
Charlotte knew perfectly well that they didn't actually find out recently about what happened at the borders. The punishment was nothing more than to bring down the 'arrogance' they claimed she had and show her that she was still beneath them.
That is why she did not believe their words; if they did not give her a convincing answer, she would not leave the confinement. Because, to begin with, everything goes according to plan.
The man who was bent over did not move an inch.
"Matthew Dietrich is a real Dietrich. The Vampire World is in a brutal frenzy because, in 1 single night, he seized control of the City of Clans, and now the entire Dark Kingdom is under his command. He has the backing of the Allens and the Murphys. We cannot contain him."
Charlotte's eyes sparkled when she heard this, but she hid it perfectly before replying. "So what? I don't think that's all."
"Our allies have already started to move. We are powerful, but we don't have the ability to grow that faster for now. Gray Allen is now a bit of a problem, as we are more concerned about Matthew Dietrich's absurdly high growth capacity. It is superior to yours." He replied, but he didn't want to stop with just that. He knew that convincing the woman before him was difficult; he needed something more.
"Besides, the Missing Link showed up again, and I don't think it's a coincidence this time. We thought we killed her before, but she's alive. Although we have no information on where she is, we already know that she is still alive. If Matthew Dietrich and her team up, they may destroy all our plans."
Charlotte then relaxed a bit and leaned back in the chair, looking up at the sky for a few seconds.
"So the guy who got away from us because of my mistake is now giving us trouble, right? That being the case, I think ideally you should increase my punishment to 10 years. A short time ago, I had in my hands to catch him, but because of my negligence, he got away, and now we're being threatened by his accomplishments."
The man's body felt tense as he heard this.
"No, no. We looked into the situation well and realized it wasn't your fault. That bastard doesn't even know how to use his power. That's why his family has been severely punished. You are not to blame for anything. Besides, I couldn't bear to leave my disciple 10 years in a seclusion that would be burying your talent." His soft reply echoed in the atmosphere.
Charlotte smiled mockingly, though she didn't show it to him. Outwardly, she looked slightly angry but nodded.
"If you want to stand up to a Dietrich, you'd better not move stupidly and stop that allied Organization. When Dietrich decides to show himself to the world, it's because a large part of his plans are already being carried out. So don't act rashly against him, and don't believe the lie that vampires are not good at strategies when confronted with a Dietrich; they are always the exception." She replied.
Her response indicated that she agreed to show, so her Master looked up. "Will you come out?"
Charlotte shrugged her shoulders. "What else can I do? You don't need to tell me nonsense to soften me up. I know perfectly well why you come to me. But I'll use this to grow into the whole race, so you can rest easy."
With those words, Charlotte stood up and walked further into her mountain, quickly moving away from where she was.
Her master sighed, turned, and walked out.
As he did, somehow, one of the pieces on the chessboard fell off. It was the King's piece.
And the place fell resoundingly silent again.
