Chapter 32: Speech Part 2
Chapter 32: Speech Part 2
Seraphina stood up before her eyes emanated blue mist around them; this is called "Mana Eyes," a spell magicians used to detect any living being with traces of mana in their body.
But as she tried detecting Oz, she couldn't see a single thing; to her "Mana Eyes," nobody was there.
In this world, every living creature has mana, but George, a being from another world, had none.
"So, what spell did he use?" Gideon whispered, leaning towards Seraphina.
Seraphina shook her head, "I am not sure… He can't be using teleportation since I couldn't detect any mana…"
'Huh?' The answer left Gideon stunned.
He was expecting that kind of reply from a novice magician, not a high-level witch like Seraphina, who had spent her whole life studying and practicing magic.
Hearing this kind of answer was the equivalent of a master martial artist being baffled at a martial art move.
Seraphina was a 7-circle witch; only 1 more circle to reach the 8-circle, which until recently had been known as the highest level of magic before the rumor of Oz reaching godhood had spread.
And being this powerful, she must have at least known how Oz could have done something like that.
But she looked as confused as every other magic student from the 1st to the 3rd year students.
George took slow steps toward the podium; the whole stadium could only hear his steps, making them even louder.
"I stand here before you today, looking down upon each and everyone of you, those who have talked good to me, and those who curse me." He said before staring at Donovan, who was standing right beside Mason Wolfe.
Donovan's eyes open wide as he takes a few steps back; his clothes immediately drench with sweat as his worst fears have come true.
The rest of the other Emerald City guards saw this as well and froze, knowing in this situation, there was not much they could do for him.
Mason turned to Donovan, "Look, I will distract him for you for a bit, so while I distract him, you take a run for it."
Donovan turned to 'Oz,' who was still staring at him. "Ok." He replied.
"I'll distract him in three… two… on-"
George smiled before continuing his speech, "But, I don't mind it… I value the opinion of the everyday man, whatever opinions you have about me,l I will gladly take it, and try to improve myself… So feel free to make your voices heard." He continued before giving a friendly nod to Donovan.
Many of the students started whispering amongst themselves, expecting Oz to burn Donovan alive from all of the rumors.
"I guess rumors are just rumors afterall." One of them said,
"And now as I look at every single person in this stadium, I could see the next hope for the city, the kingdoms, and for the empire." He said while glancing at the Empire Prince. "But many of you don't see hope in yourself, many of you see yourself as a Class C student forever, and some of you see yourself as someone who have just got into the academy by luck, but let me tell you, you might not see it, but I see unlimited potential in each and everyone of you."
"All that it takes is effort and time, Emerald City wasn't built in a day and the same goes to everyone of you, if you trust in yourself committing one hundred percent for every single second you live, I promise you, that you can surpass everything and anything that I have ever achieved."
The students look at each other, 'Can we really achieve more than him?'
"I won't take much of your time, but I will let everyone of you ask me questions, if you think that you are worthy enough to ask me any question, feel free to step out, and ask me, if I do not answer your question, leave."
George's 'inspirational' speech is something none of the students or the headmasters in the academy have ever heard of. And although back on earth, it would be considered mediocre at best, public speaking was something not known to many other than to the con man and the politicians.
The level of speech that everyone delivered on this planet was straightforward and to the point, while George mimicked the politicians in the movies, albeit poorly.
It started with Gideon, but Seraphina started clapping, and slowly the whole stadium was filled with claps for the mediocre display of public speaking.
George smiled and nodded before gesturing for everyone to stop, "I am waiting for you to ask your questions."
The students quickly queued up, waiting for their questions to be asked. However, the number of the queue didn't even reach a hundred although the number of people in the stadium was 10 times that.
"How do I get stronger?" That was the first question.
George was mentally scratching his head for answers, but he couldn't think of any practical answers that he could give the student, "Is that it?" George asked, still thinking of an answer.
"Yes, Great Wizard."
"Next." George replied, pretending not to care about his questions.
The student looked around, as he couldn't think of what he had done but walked away; the second student walked up, "Akshar wants to FIGHT!" The barbarian shouted as he jumped on top of the stage.
PENG!
He felt a hard piece of metal smashing through his face once more. George pulled out the wrench that he hid inside of his pocket and continued smashing the barbarian's face till he became unconscious… again.
The Emerald City guards ran and quickly attempted to arrest the barbarian before George raised his hand, "Wait, this kid doesn't need to go to jail, he needs to stay in the academy so he could learn not be this stupid… and pathetic…"
Akshar regained his consciousness nearly immediately, and the first thing he saw was the Great Wizard staring at him, "Right Akshar?"
