Chapter 223: Retreat

Terrance and others, who initially intended to continue their attack, paused and looked over at Arvin.

Arvin nodded vigorously and said, “Retreat?”

Albert, Murasakibara, and Terrance hesitated, reluctant to stop fighting at this point.

Although they inwardly complained about Regirock’s recovery ability, it was a genuine ability of Regirock. In contrast, their group attack led to this outcome, denting their confidence and causing them to feel embarrassed.

“We have no choice. Our original goal was to record the battle video, not to defeat a Legendary Pokémon…” Arvin said with a wry smile.

During the battle, they had become increasingly invested, displaying a strong sense of competitiveness.

“Forget it, let’s go. Even if we defeat Regirock, it’s not a fair victory with so many of us,” Terrance shook his head.

Albert and Murasakibara sighed and glanced at Regirock, who was starting to devour rocks to recover from its injuries. “Then let’s retreat.”

“Hurry—”

In the distance, Maki and Ishi had started the helicopter and came to pick up Terrance and the others. With a means of transport, their retreat was swift, and Regirock, busy recovering, did not pursue.

As the ruins became a distant black dot, Arvin swallowed nervously and said, “We’re just leaving like this? What if this Regirock goes berserk again?”

This Regirock had been sealed, and now they had unsealed it. Would it cause a chain reaction…

“Just thinking of that now?” Maki glanced at him. “I thought you had considered that when awakening Regirock.”

“How could I…” Arvin smiled awkwardly.

However, Arvin’s words did make Murasakibara and Albert pause; they hadn’t considered this issue.

The only ones not worried were Terrance, Ishi, and Maki.

“Don’t worry, Regirock won’t cause much trouble,” Ishi said with a smile.

Terrance wasn’t concerned either. He had learned about humanity’s development history from books at Crown Academy. That period was marked by extreme hostility between humans and Pokémon. To create a comfortable living environment, humans opened up various lost areas, cultivated wild mountains and wastelands, and built roads, towns, and cities. During this period, there were countless direct confrontations with Pokémon.

This wasn’t about right or wrong, just about standpoints. Both humans and Pokémon needed places to live, so there would always be conflicts over territory.

Humans had the upper hand, establishing major cities and towns and driving out most Pokémon from these areas. Only then did human habitats were really considered to have a “civilized atmosphere.”

In the past, human cities faced numerous attacks from Pokémon. Without strong reconnaissance and defense capabilities, how could the safety of the residents be ensured?

The desert was close to Mauville City, one of the top three cities in Hoenn, and potentially the largest city. Even a few Regirock wouldn’t affect the city.

“There are still countless Pokémon hostile to humans. If they really could threaten us, we wouldn’t have our current stable lives,” Maki added.

“By the way, are you going to release the video?” Terrance hesitated before asking.

“The video of the Trainer battling Zapdos caused a huge stir. You all want to ride the wave of its popularity?”

“Yes! ! ” Maki said excitedly.

“If you release it… the location might be recognized. Many trainers will likely come here to try to catch the Legendary Pokémon,” Ishi shook his head. “It might even attract the Elite Four or Champions.”

“Yes, after all, it’s a Legendary Pokémon…” Albert said longingly.

“However…” Ishi smiled, “Before we acted, I sent a scheduled email to my uncle in the police department. This place should be sealed soon. Ordinary Trainers won’t be allowed in. Only we know Regirock’s true strength. As long as it stays in the ruins, it’s nearly invincible.”

“But if it leaves the ruins and faces several strong Trainers, it would only have the option to flee.”

“Or an adventurer like Mr. Brandon might be able to fight Regirock alone, maybe even capture it,” Albert added.

They all sighed. The battle with Regirock had given them a thrill, but capturing Regirock, that hot potato was beyond their reach.

After returning to Mauville City, Ishi used his skillful “editing” techniques to drastically rework the footage of Regirock’s appearance to its escape. Then, he showed it to Terrance and the others for their review.

Albert was stunned.

Murasakibara’s jaw dropped.

Terrance was shocked…

Is….is this really the struggle they had gone through?

Ishi’s editing and filming skills were truly top-notch. The video looked like an epic action movie, with a bgm that created a highly intense atmosphere.

Moreover, through editing, the video didn’t show their struggle against Regirock but depicted an evenly matched, intense battle.

Terrance and the other Trainers’ Pokémon even had close-ups, looking mighty as they clashed with Regirock.

Most importantly..the video ended with Regirock fleeing in defeat, making them feel embarrassed.

“Is this….okay?” Terrance, being an honest person, asked hesitantly.

Albert and Murasakibara were silent, clearly impressed by the extraordinary video. If they hadn’t been there themselves, even they might have believed it.

“Oh, come on~~ Nowadays, which news doesn’t exaggerate a bit? Without something eye-catching, how can you get clicks…” Maki said. “Besides, it’s a real battle; we just edited a bit. It’s not like we faked anything.”

“Anyone with a bit of experience can tell it’s edited. The key is to capture the audience’s attention,” Ishi added.

Arvin, familiar with their style, shrugged, having seen this many times.

“Yeah.” Albert and Murasakibara felt less burdened, accepting this “achievement” with clear conscience.

As for Terrance, he didn’t mind. They trainers were just showing their faces; the main focus was on the Pokémon battle.

“If that’s the case, let’s upload it…” Ishi said excitedly, anticipating the sensation it would cause.
