Chapter 94.2
Chapter 94.2
Su Ling was no longer silent and said: “Through formal channels, we will never be able to make him pay the price he deserves.”
Under her statement, the atmosphere once again fell into a long silence, a while later the director replied calmly: “What I stand for is not justice, and what the Anti-Magic Bureau protects is not justice either.”
I understand… Su Ling suddenly felt a little sad when she thought about it.
Su Ling in her childhood days admired two things, one was her father, and the other was the Anti-Magic Bureau, but as she grew up, she realized that neither of them was the embodiment of justice.
The Director skipped over this topic and said in a calm tone: “Earl Bute is not a key figure in his faction, but his faction has secretly put pressure on the Anti-Magic Bureau.”
Su Ling understood that the Earl was a councilor, and the faction behind him had to express an attitude, “I take it seriously” and “I want to avenge the murderer.” Otherwise, the entire faction would no longer be united or even fall apart.
The director continued: “I don’t plan to hand you over, because you are not stupid enough to leave key evidence, and no one witnessed you carrying out the assassination.”
His tone grew harsher, almost to the point of scolding.
“But according to the rules, the Anti-Magic Bureau must pay a certain price to calm things down.”
“Because of you, the Anti-Magic Bureau has been implicated… When doing things in the future, you must first remember that you are already a member of the Anti-Magic Bureau.”“From now on, you are suspended!”
Su Ling was calm and collected through out the process. The suspension was not unexpected. She was even prepared to be kicked out of the Anti-Magic Bureau or even arrested on the spot.
“Yes.”
Su Ling with a nod turned around, intending to leave.
“Do you know what I’m most dissatisfied with you about?” The director voice once again sounded from behind, halting Su Ling in her first step.
He didn’t wait for her response, directly said what wanted to say.
“You are too young, too reckless, and simply too stupid… If George were still alive, he would never be like you.”
George.
Why did he suddenly say George? Su Ling’s pupils shrank slightly, feeling that he knew something.
But the next words of the director made Su Ling very surprised.
“He will strategically refrain from immediate action following the conflict to avoid becoming the primary suspect. Instead, he will find a bastard as a scapegoat, and won’t make the scene bloody and messy and be confirmed as a murder. His calculated approach involves orchestrating an accident that appears accidental, thus facilitating a smoother cover-up operation. By meticulously crafting the events to suggest a different narrative to evade detection and successfully shift the focus away from himself as the true perpetrator of the crime.”
“You are too inexperienced.” He shook his head.
Su Ling froze on the spot, suddenly feeling as if the Director knew a lot about this kind of thing, and was far more experienced than herself.
Suddenly a bold guess emerged on her mind, Su Ling felt that there may be more to her organization than meets the eye.
The director after a long silence said, “You may leave now.”
Su Ling nodded slightly, opened the door and left the office.
As she did, she planned to go to the cafe first thing in the morning to explain something to Shen Yi.
The Director, perhaps, knew about George not really being dead.
——
At night.
As Shen Yi was making the coffee, he noticed the rain outside had stopped.
“It’s a good thing that the rain has stopped. Every time it rains, something bad happens to me.”
Over this period of time, Shen Yi was on the verge of having rain stress disorder.
I hope tomorrow is not a foggy day, Shen Yi put his hands together and prayed, but did not have much hope …… Beland’s weather was known all over the world to a great extent.
Tina was having evening classes today, so she didn’t come. After all the guests left, Shen Yi packed up the cafe and got ready to go to bed.
He walked to the wall and switched off the lights.
— —
In the alley not far from the coffee shop.
Ennius took off his gold-rimmed glasses and looked calmly at the cafe.
“The lights are out, huh.”
This dark-vintage themed cafe was called “Morning Star” with the shape of 7. The cafe was mostly used glasses walls instead of brick walls, so from the window seat one could have the best view of the scenery outside.
That’s where the “chess player” apparently lives, haha… Ennius shook his head, knowing this very well.
On the surface, it was just a small well decorated coffee shop. In fact, it may have a huge mysterious space inside, or it may be linked to a secret base as a mysterious stronghold.
Only amateurs with no standards would really think that this was an ordinary cafe.
Ennius shook his head. His purpose to coming here was not to fight against the mysterious figures here, but just a greeting to release the goodwill of the Salian family, that’s all.
According to the intelligence collected so far, the owner of the coffee shop was a friendly person to the mankind. As long as he would not actively expose his hostility, there would be no danger.
Ennius put on his glasses again and raised the corners of his mouth slightly.
The patriarch of the family favors him most among all the heirs. After all, only he and the patriarch have the closest bloodline.
Therefore, the tasks he assigned to himself were never very difficult.
Ennius seemed to have seen his great future, and the curve of the corners of his mouth became wider and wider.
In his gloating sense, what he failed to notice was.
A pair of sparkling cat eyes was staring straight at him from the darkness in the cafe.
