Chapter 239
Chapter 239 - The Earth-shaking Roar of a Beast
Jiang Hao quickly spotted a man and a woman on a narrow path through the forest.
Their condition, however, was far from good.
Their clothes were shredded by branches, but that was the least of their worries. In that moment, their sole focus was a desperate escape.
As they ran, they cast terrified glances over their shoulders, as if a horrifying creature was in pursuit.
“Roar ~!”
Suddenly, a beastly roar thundered, rattling Jiang Hao's ears.
With a stern, determined expression, Jiang Hao braced himself as if for battle.
But then, the thunderous sound of something running swiftly faded, and the forest stirred before falling silent once more. The imminent danger had vanished.
With the threat gone, Jiang Hao wasted no time and dashed towards the pair.
Drawing closer, he recognized one of them as Tian Cuicui, the woman who had inquired about ginseng prices just the day before.
The other was her husband, Jiang Guoqing, the carpenter from Jiang Village.
Still reeling from their ordeal, the couple erupted into cries for help upon seeing Jiang Hao.
“Hao Hao, there's a monster behind us, chasing us!”
Tian Cuicui was gasping for air, her eyes wide with panic as she sobbed.
Beside her, Jiang Guoqing was ashen-faced, clutching his other arm, which was wrapped in a thick cloth.
Despite the wrapping, blood had soaked through, staining the fabric.
Jiang Hao's nose picked up the sharp tang of blood.
“Don't worry, Auntie. The monster seems to have run off; it's not following us,” he reassured her.
?”It didn't follow us?”
Tian Cuicui spun around, her eyes searching the forest. Realizing they were indeed safe, she burst into tears of relief and joy.
?”We're alive! We made it!” she exclaimed, dropping to the ground next to her husband, her emotions a mix of laughter and tears.
?Meanwhile, Jiang Guoqing, with a faint smile at their escape, suddenly collapsed as darkness overtook him.
Jiang Hao was taken aback, his quick reflexes kicking in as he swiftly steadied Jiang Guoqing.
Tian Cuicui, who was nearby, woke up with a start. She rushed over to Jiang Hao, her face etched with fear and urgency as she shook Jiang Guoqing vigorously.
“Head of the household, head of the household!”
Upon examining him, Jiang Hao discovered that Jiang Guoqing had simply lost too much blood and was physically drained. His mind had been on edge, and the sudden release of tension had caused him to pass out.
“Auntie, try to stay calm. I have some medical knowledge; let me take a look at uncle,” he reassured her.
With that, Jiang Hao carefully laid Jiang Guoqing flat on the ground and gently unwrapped the blood-soaked cloth from his arm, revealing a large, bite-like wound.
Jiang Hao was filled with questions. What on earth had they encountered? And what was that animal roar about?
?But now wasn't the time for questions; saving a life was the priority.
Tian Cuicui looked at Jiang Hao with tearful, pleading eyes, her voice tinged with sobs.
“Hao Hao, how's your uncle? Shouldn't we rush him to the hospital?”
Hearing her concern, Jiang Hao began to explain as he stood up. He subtly reached into his pocket and, under the guise of rummaging, retrieved the Icy Jade Needle box from the System Space.
“Auntie, there's no need to panic. I've got this—just give me a moment!”
He then crouched down, took Jiang Guoqing's arm, and swiftly used the Icy Jade Needles to stem the bleeding, preventing any further blood loss.
