Chapter 114: The Retired Doctor Blends In
Chapter 114: The Retired Doctor Blends In
Doctor Lu Yao left the house. Shen promised to brief the village's situation after he got his class, but the guy left. Maybe he took too long inside the house. He checked the time, and he realized he spent an hour inside the house.
While Shen was not around, he saw a girl and a young man doing squats with a stone on their back. The woman lifted a bigger stone on her back than the young man's stone. If it was him, he would stop doing it and log out. It was so embarrassing that a woman could lift a bigger stone.
He did not mean to be sexist, but men were just born naturally stronger than women. 'But again, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Genders mean nothing in this game but stats.'
Lu Yao then remembered that they were in the game where stats matter. 'But what are they doing? Do the squats have a special effect or something? Why would they work out in the game? Work out in real life, so you have a healthy body.'
When he stepped out of the house, someone called him. "Oy, new member." Lu Yao subconsciously looked at the voice. He had just recently arrived in the village. He knew the voice was calling him.
A woman in his late twenties called him out. He assumed the woman was in her late twenties from her appearance. She sat on the table in front of the spawn spot. He came over and greeted the woman. "Hello, I am the new member, Lu Yao."
Lu Yao used his real name in the game. Since he could not alter his appearance in the game. He might as well use his real name, too. It did not matter since he was good-looking, too.
"Hello, I am ZhenZhen. Nice to meet you." ZhenZhen waved her hand in response. "Are you looking for Runner?"
"Nice to meet you." Lu Yao responded formally before a frown formed on his forehead. "Runner? I am not looking for Runner. I am looking for Shen." He did not understand what this woman talked about. Why would he look for a runner?
"Shen?" ZhenZhen was surprised that the new member knew Shen's real name. 'Were they acquaintances in real life? Or a friend? No, this man is too old to be Shen's friend.'
"Yes. I am looking for Shen. He said he would brief me about the village." Lu Yao nodded his head.
"You are too long inside the house, so Shen logged out to play with his little sister while waiting for you," ZhenZhen replied and opened her contact. She received Shen's number just now, as he asked her to call him when the doctor finished. She sent him a message instead.
"He will login in ten minutes." ZhenZhen got the reply fast. "Oh, and Runner is Shen's in-game name. He does not use his real name in the game, though everyone in the village already knows his real name."
"I see" Lu Yao nodded his head and took a seat across from ZhenZhen. "What about this village, anyway? Where are we?"
"I am not sure either, but this is a unique village with access to a hidden class. If we follow the game's rules, we can't get the class until we reach level 20. As for where we are, I don't know either. But Shen recently discovered this place called Vales." ZhenZhen explained. "Don't you remember how you got here?"
"Now you said it, it was actually unlucky I don't think it was unlucky, but more luck. I mean, I fell into a gorge, and I spawned in this village." Lu Yao changed his statement midway. It was lucky because he could get the Poison King Class.
"There's a famous site near my starter city. It is called Garden II because rare herbs grow on the gorge's wall. I came to check the site, but I was too daring and slipped into the gorge instead." He recalled what happened to him. It was an unlucky event if not for the village discovery. However, it was his luck to fall into the gorge.
"I see." ZhenZhen nodded her head. How they fell into the gorge was about the same. She wanted to find a rare ingredient while the man in front of him was sightseeing.
"Anyway, what does Shen want to brief about? Can you tell me instead?" Lu Yao did not know what to do now. The only thing he could do was to wait until tomorrow to meet Master Ori again. He would ask the old man what he should do in his spare time like this.
"I can tell you what it is about." ZhenZhen thought about it, but she would waste Shen's time waiting for the man. "But what about Shen? I mean, he is waiting for you But it will be fine too, I guess."
"He must want to brief you about Vales and the situation in the village." ZhenZhen continued. "First, we are alone. The only human settlement in Vales, for a production class like us, this is bad. We have to search for the ingredients and material by ourselves. We can't buy them."
"That's not that bad, actually. If we are the only human settlement in this territory, then we don't have a competitor to fight over the resources." Lu Yao thought about it, and it was not as bad as ZhenZhen pictured out.
"Yeah, you can say that because you never go outside before. The monster around the village is a high-level monster. You can go alone outside, but not all combat classes can fight too since they are still low level." ZhenZhen smiled wryly. The saying was true, ignorance is bliss.
"How high? No matter what, this village is still the same as a starter city, but this is a village instead of a city. The developer should spawn a monster that a newbie like me could hunt, or else it will be a disaster. Having an Epic Class Player that is stuck at a low level means bad for the game. We are their content, after all." Lu Yao felt ZhenZhen was exaggerating things.
