Chapter 46: | 046 | Maritime Security Mission Reward
In the medical quarters of the UNS Guardian of the High Seas, Abraham watched several digital windows materialize before his eyes and end with the long-awaited reward panel of the maritime security mission.
You have obtained 1,000 Naval Points(Maritime Security Mission Rewards), 1,000 Naval Points(Escape Rewards), and 1x Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship(Secret Achievement Reward).
Total Current Accumulated Naval Points: 2,000 Naval Points!
"Hmm… As expected, 2,000 Naval Points, huh." Abraham silently muttered under his breath while staring at the reward panel with scrutiny.
But as he read deeper into the digital panel, he realized something important was written in it. It was the emergence of the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship.
'What-' The middle-aged man found himself in disbelief as he couldn't believe what he was seeing before his eyes. It felt like a dream, a little bit too good to be true.
'Am I becoming mad because of the accumulating stress?' Abraham wondered to himself if it was possible that what he was seeing before him was merely a hallucination.
Something that his mind wanted to see.
Before Abraham could ponder about the state of his sanity, the familiar mechanical bell of his precious partner rang inside his mind. What followed it was her monotone voice.
*Ding!*
You aren't falling into madness, Fleet Admiral. What you see before you is the truth presented by the Naval Gacha System. It is the reward for achieving the unforeseeable.
The monotone words of Systema awoke the middle-aged man from his trance state. It seems that the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship was real.
'So, it's real. But what does it mean, Systema? Can you explain more about it?' Abraham inquired, wanting to know more about his unique reward.
It has been deemed that the Fleet Admiral would be given a personalized ship as a reward for his secret achievement. The Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship was chosen.
As the Fleet Admiral is the curious type, he must be wondering what a personalized ship means.
'You're correct, I was curious about it when you spoke of it.' Abraham nodded in agreement since Systema wasn't wrong about his curiosity about the personalized ship concept.
The personalized ship is a crewed ship summoned by the Naval Gacha Systema. Its difference from other summoned warships is the simple fact that it has no captain commanding it.
Practically, a leaderless vessel.
In simpler terms, it can be considered a directly controlled ship of the Fleet Admiral as it has no commanding officers.
'I see what you mean. You're implying that I am practically the commanding officer of the ship. That's the reason why it's considered a personalized ship.'
Abraham nodded in understanding as he grasped the concept of what Systema was trying to inform him.
Correct, the Fleet Admiral has complete control over its crew and they have a higher than usual degree of loyalty compared to the ordinary naval personnel.
These kinds of summoned warships are rather rare, especially with the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship dangling between the actual and concept warships.
'Wait, I'm a bit confused. What do you mean by concept? Doesn't the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship already exist? It isn't a concept in my knowledge.'
Abraham was a bit baffled by what Systema had said about the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship being a concept of some sort.
You are half correct and half wrong, Fleet Admiral. The Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship was a naval project that was never entirely completed by the USN.
What can be summoned by the Fleet Admiral is the completed version of the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship. Far from its real counterpart, and closer to the concept version.
With the explanation of Systema about the Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship, Abraham understood the difference between what he expected and what was to come.
'It might be a lot more powerful than expected. But I guess this works well for me.' The edges of his lips rose as he imagined himself commanding the vessel.
The Modernized Iowa-Class Battleship might not have the ranges of a destroyer. But it sure does pack a lot of punch in its 16-inch guns.
Any direction pointed by them freedom guns would probably be blown apart into damnation.
"Abraham, you sure are grinning like a child. It seems that I'm not the only one that got something from the Elder Leviathan." Laplace noticed the obvious changes in Abraham's expressions.
Abraham got out of his thoughtful conversation with Systema and noticed the dragoness smirking at him. Perhaps, his expressions were too obvious.
"Well, I just got a gift from a certain someone." He uttered while maintaining the stupid smile on his face. It was hard not to get excited, especially when he was about to summon a battleship.
It might look older than other warships, but it was the beast of the sea. It might as well be every man's wet dream. Being able to command such a warship was nothing short of an honor.
Speaking of the battleship, Abraham turned his gaze towards Captain Howard. He immediately ordered the captain to notify the surrounding friendlies of a warship's emergence.
"Captain Howard, send out a notification to the data link about the arrival of a battleship in our armada. Make sure to not engage our reinforcements."
Hearing the stern words of the Fleet Admiral, Captain Howard calmly nodded and followed the orders. He stepped out of the medical quarters, leaving the dragoness and the middle-aged man alone.
"From what I can see, it must be massive and cool-looking." Laplace calmly commented as if guessing the flooding thoughts inside Abraham's head.
"After all, you do like cool-looking giant dragons, right?" The white-haired lady's teasing tone was penetrating through the aloof defenses of the Fleet Admiral.
"But, it does make me wonder, Abraham. Where might this gift be coming from?" She squinted her eyes and stepped closer to Abraham.
Her scent could be smelt clearly, and it was akin to a flowery scent. It makes one wonder if this kind of scent naturally emanated from her body.
"What matters is not the origin of my gift." Abraham dodged her questioning with a smile and walked towards the door of the medical quarters.
Arriving in front of it, he looked back at the curious dragoness and uttered.
"Follow me, Laplace. You'll see the gift I got."
Without any hesitation or delay, Laplace followed Abraham as he walked through the hallway and entered the flight deck of the UNS Guardian of the High Seas once again.
Several reverberating sounds of propellers clapping the air echoed into her ears as the sea breeze ruffled strands of her silver-white hair.
The piercing sunlight gleamed over her body while the splashing waves resounded throughout the flight deck.
Laplace saw Abraham standing beside the railings and headed towards him with brimming interest. As she got nearer to him, she noticed the Fleet Admiral staring into the distance.
When she followed his gaze, she saw a behemoth of a warship bigger than anything she had seen before. It was long and bulky, clad with thick armor and massive turrets.
The dragoness finally understood where the excitement of the Fleet Admiral was coming from. As expected, men were as simple as she thought.
Nonetheless, she was amazed by the size and the overpowering aura emanated from the ship. But what surprised her the most was Abraham's following words.
"That's my ship, Laplace."
