Chapter 45: | 045 | Draconic Evolution
"Systema, I trusted your words and this is the result of it?" Abraham silently muttered in anger as his thoughts were right about the marble being too dangerous for consumption. After all, if it was comparable to a nuclear demon core, why should anyone eat it?
A familiar mechanical bell chimed inside his mind and the monotone response of Systema followed.
*Ding!*
| I only confirmed that Laplace wouldn't die from consumption, Fleet Admiral. I didn't say that the Elder Heart had no effects on the one that consumed it. |
| Even if Laplace has the physique of the eastern dragon, the centuries worth of mana essence contained in that little marble would have been too much for her body to safely consume. |
| But, as said before, she wouldn't die from it. |
Systema's response was annoyingly concise. Abraham could only sigh since he couldn't conjure a hard counter against his precious partner.
He defeatedly sat back to his chair in the medical quarters, a room he hadn't left too long ago before returning back with the same patient.
Abraham watched Laplace in deep slumber, wondering how she might evolve after eating that marble of implosive death. After all, Systema did say that the dragoness might possibly advance leap and bounds from her biological constraints.
Or in short, evolution.
'Will her eastern dragon form become bigger? Perhaps, she can now breathe fire.' Abraham had various thoughts inside his head regarding the evolution of Laplace.
Before he could continue thinking about how she might end up, he felt something strange in the air. His skin seemed to tingle as static seemed to shroud his nearby surroundings.
It was then, that Abraham realized that the electrostatic was coming from the dragoness herself. With seconds passing by, it was becoming stronger in voltage.
Naturally, the middle-aged man backed away for safety and observed the transforming electrostatic field with scrutiny.
Such a scene was something he would usually see on television, so it was hard to not get enamored by it.
*BBZZzzzzz!* Bbbbzzzzzzttt!* *BBBBZzzzz!*
The crackling echoes of the electrostatic snapping across the medical quarters reverberated in Abraham's ears. It was at this moment that he understood that it was time to back off.
Otherwise, he would get electrocuted by the growing electrostatic field of the dragoness.
'This dragoness is a troublemaker.' Abraham clicked his tongue in annoyance and closed the door to the medical quarters.
In the fringes of the medical quarter's door, he could see the electrostatics' radiance flickering in and out of existence. Along with it was a strange humming of the rumbling electric.
Abraham calmly waited for what was happening in the medical quarters to calm down. Some naval personnel wondered what he was doing outside of it, but they quickly moved one after he explained the troublesome dragoness inside it.
After a minute, the situation inside had returned to its tranquil state. The rumble of electrostatics had long disappeared, and danger didn't seem to tirelessly flutter.
Upon the obvious signs of calming, Abraham opened the door of the medical quarters and saw the scorch marks left by high-voltage electrostatics scattered throughout the ivory walls.
The price of repair resounded in his mind, and he promised in his heart that the dragoness would go through the most torturous grinding session she'd ever go through.
Though… Speaking of the dragoness, Laplace was now awake from her deep slumber. She stood silently in the interiors, gazing at her pale hand that was emitting electric flashes.
"Abraham, look." She uttered with amazement while controlling electricity like a conductor in a beautiful orchestra.
Abraham merely watched in astonishment as the eastern dragon became capable of controlling electricity. He was a bit proud, to be honest.
'When will I get my buff?' The middle-aged man thought to himself and entered the medical quarters casually.
"You're an electric dragon, now," Abraham commented while looking at electricity shrouding her as though she was a storm cloud of some sort.
The edges of Laplace's lips rose as she smugly remarked.
"More like a thunder dragon, hehehe~" Even a dragon wants to be a cooler dragon. Laplace felt the growth of strength and became a bit more confident than before.
"Yeah, yeah… Oh, great thunder dragon, what is your guidance." Abraham sarcastically expressed with a tinge of mock amazement.
"There's no need to be a killjoy, Abraham. I'll let you ride me if we have time." Laplace pouted and confidently said while pointing her thumb at herself.
The middle-aged man raised an eyebrow after hearing the words of the dragoness. Hearing someone say that they were willing to let you ride them was strange.
"Where can I even ride you? I doubt I'll be able to stick to your body without slipping." Abraham shook his head as he didn't want to die.
Though… Honestly, riding a dragon did sound cool. But he would only do so with ample protection. He wasn't stupid to ride it without anything that could save him if he ever fell from it.
"There's no need to worry, I'll make sure you won't slip off my body," Laplace smirked, appearing more smug than ever before.
Abraham remembered that he planned to grind this dragon's head to damnation and he was planning to do so at this very moment.
However, before he could act to his desires, Captain Howard coughed while watching them from the door of the medical quarters.
Abraham looked at him with raised eyebrows and questioned.
"Captain Howard, how long have you been staying there?"
His questioning words resounded in Captain Howard's ears. Despite being more aloof than the other captains, Howard felt that he must tread this situation carefully.
"I just recently got here, Fleet Admiral."
Captain Howard responded with some determination. Abraham didn't look away from the captain and merely squinted his eyes.
"You haven't heard much from our conversation, correct?" The Fleet Admiral calmly inquired and the captain rapidly nodded in agreement.
"Yes, sir! I haven't heard or understood anything from the medical quarters."
"Good," Abraham nodded in satisfaction and continued. "Anyhow, what brings you here, Captain Howard? Is there something that you need to report?"
Captain Howard remembered the report he was about to give to the Fleet Admiral and immediately straightened his back with the following salute.
"Fleet Admiral, the cleansing operation has been completed. The armada will be routed to the Port of Dawn." With Howard's report, Abraham sighed in relief.
Things were finally returning back to their calm. Through his relief, the mechanical bell rang inside his mind and the monotone report of Systema came after.

He was bombarded with various notification reports from Systema, but he wasn't bothered by it. Especially when most of them were good news and primarily speaking about his rewards.
Abraham couldn't help but get a bit excited about it. After all, there was no way he would go through all that for nothing.
