Chapter 243
243 The Lonely Devil (4)
(Jane’s PoV)
The wind rumbled as my punch met the wood hard skin of the red creature. The shock of the punch even spread to the surrounding vicinity and the shadows were exterminated in a flash as the ghosts fled for themselves. The creature let out a deafening howl as it was forced to get into the portal again.
My punch might hurt it. From the way it reacted, it must be furious of me. Its eyes glared at me with a shock and madness reflected in them. With a loud roar, it forced its way out again.
My eyes squinted. Still didn’t want to give up, huh? Fine.
My feet didn’t land on the ground for too long as I leaped again and covered my hands in blue flame. I didn’t miss the fear and shock in its eyes as soon as it saw the flame in my hands.
I smirked. So, you’re afraid of this flame, right? How about a taste of it, then?
Just when I was about to deliver another punch to it, it roared loudly and a layer of thick red mist covered its body and met my punch. I met a bit of resistant as my hand made a contact with the red mist but it was only for some milliseconds before my fist went through it.
However, those milliseconds were what it was aiming. In those milliseconds, it could retract itself from the portal and returned to its world, successfully avoiding my punch.
My eyes darkened. Planning to run away? Now that I knew your weakness, how could I let you go easily?
.....
Without much thought, I jumped into the portal, only to find a much stronger resistance from the red mist. I burned my way in but countless creatures suddenly appeared and attacked me.
Even though my blue flame was formidable, I couldn’t use it to burn them all carelessly. What if those creatures ran away and accidentally burned the good creatures living in this mountain?
I sighed. If only Sanji could use his power. It would be a piece of cake for him to trap them all in a place and I could burn them all with ease.
Even though the red devil had gone, its lingering aura still existed. The pressure and the thick bloodlust had not immediately gone. Taking care of it would be troublesome and require much energy and time to control my power. And I honestly didn’t have that much time since I had a ‘fugitive’ to chase.
If I could catch that red thing, I thought I could force it to retract its aura -whether it would harm him or not, I didn’t care.
Since it was decided like that, I moved even quickly to eradicate everything in my path that dared to block me from chasing that evil red.
But, still... it was easier said than done.
“Damn it! Get away from me!” I yelled in frustration as I made a hole in the barricade of strange creatures again.
Strangely, the hole would be patched up immediately with new creatures even before I could penetrate it. It was frustrating, indeed. If only I had a back up.
Siji was off with Tom. I could summon him but I didn’t think this kind of thing needed him.
Tom was even more out of question since he was off to train himself.
Summoning the army? Nah. It would be troublesome -even though it might look badass if I did that.
Who should I call?
In the midst of all the troublesome thinking and knocking off the strange creatures, I felt a familiar burst of energy coming closer.
Peeking over my shoulders, I saw hundreds of tiny greyish string of ropes rushed towards the me. It emitted faint silver light and the aura in each of the ropes was... strong.
They went passed by me, didn’t touch me even just a bit, and directly tied themselves to any of the creatures around me. It looked like a huge octopus with countless tentacles attacking them, lifting them in the air and opening up a path for me to move forward.
“Go! Sorry for making you wait!” I looked at him with surprise.
It was a pleasant surprise for me, of course. Standing in the open space not too far away from where I left him, Sanji was emitting the same faint silver and grey light covering his whole body. His right hand was extended with his palm wide open, controlling those ropes. He looked a bit out of breath, probably because he was forced to manipulate his power to this extent.
Not only that, the protectve barrier around him was still there. It meants he could do both offense and defense with his type of power.
He must be a genius!
I hadn’t heard about string type of power owner could attack and defend at the same time. Sanji might be the first. Maybe I needed to ask my walking encyclopedia about it.
Too bad he was still busy with training Tom.
But, seriously, he was awesome!
I wished I had time to praise him, but the red devil was getting further and further away. Therefore, I could only raise my thumb to praise him for being awesome.
After doing that, I hastily jumped into the portal and rushed towards the devil creature. The red devil must not have thought that I could chase it all the way into its teritory.
Heh, it really underestimated me. It thought that I wouldn’t dare to chase it into the astral world.
No, it was a different layer than the one I usually visited. The one I usually visited and where my other house was had the color of human world even though it was in a dimmer light. The activities inside even looked like a normal village with transparent bodies here and there.
However, this place was dark. The only source of light came from the red lava running in several places. The place only had three colors; grey, red, and black. The red one looked so contrast with the others that it was the only source of light in this evil world.
Lava, flowers, or... blood.
I guessed I had entered the dimension to the evil creatures. I unleashed all my power and put all of my attention to my surrounding, just in case something planned to drag me to the abyss.
Since I didn’t bother to conceal my power, my speed automatically enhanced as well. In no time, I had run side by side with the red devil.
“Hey...” I waved at it, smiled at its shock expression. “Do you miss me?”
