Quests: Making A Team (part 5)
War between teams:
If you wanted to survive in the Guild, fight for a slot;
Linwin did not stop hacking, even when the monster turned to face him.
He was not thinking about anything else as he knew that he wasn't in any immediate danger. He hacked one more time when the monster roared at him and then shook its giant body. The mere shock from that sent off Linwin flying.
Fortunately, he somehow managed to bring his sword in between the hit and fended off the shockwave. He did not get a direct hit and was only thrown some distance away. For a second, he felt light headed, but due to his advancement to level one, he recovered quick. He did not lose any points either as it was not a grave injury.
Watching the scene unfold, Qiao grasped the opportunity and fell from above with the shapeless weapon in his hand. The pointed side was positioned away and the sharp edge was aimed at the body of the monster. His intention was to slow down the movements of the monster first.
As the monster sent Linwin flying suddenly a weapon pierced through its body. In pain and anger, it shook its body to shake away the chaser and make it fall down. From this attack, the monster felt a danger for its life and wanted to trample this human first.
"Quipu, change your position and double attack with your spear from the most feasible point. Make sure not to receive any direct hits and take its attention for a few moments," Qiao was falling down and he could not immediately make a move until he had a better footing.
Linwin was at some distance and also needed a few moments to reach back. If monster caught this opportunity in their broken formation they might end up losing badly.
The two attacks that Qiao landed did not put any fatal damage on the monster, but it helped Qiao to reach level two. A sudden surge of strength passes through his body and he smoothly landed on the ground without hitting it.
He sighed deeply as he felt he was now a level two chaser.
How much of a long distance was left for him to meet his younger brother again and face the hunter? He cannot predict despite his excellent observation and sharp intellect.
He did not have the time to see the change of the light which was emitting through the token. He had to quickly end the situation.
Quipu followed his order and leapt wielding his spear. Taking a position that was not in its direct line of sight and making sure of his terrain he attacked the monster. The beast was yet to trample any chaser under its feet when a spear almost reached to its heart.
This helped Qiao to find some time to make a distance first. Linwin also came running, now that they had it surrounded, they could surround the monster and attack while keeping a safe distance. Qiao's attack had reduced the monster's swiftness and it could not respond to attacks from three different directions. They also followed the way Qiao jumped around and made sudden moves to avoid the reckless attempts of the monster.
They were equally given chance to collect experience and it was the first ever chance for Quipu to witness such a hunt. The higher ranked weapon of Qiao dealt heavy damage to the monster allowing the other two to also land hits.
They were not here just to praise the leader, did they?
Quipu was satisfied about his choice to abandon the previous Guild, though to follow this young chaser was not an easy task. The risk-taking nature would always force him to remain alert and learn with him at an equal pace. A sliver of mistake in his judgment and he might bring crisis for the small team and it was what he wished the least.
Now all his previous doubts vanished as his mind was clear and he was willing to follow Qiao wholeheartedly.
They took more than usual time but none among the three was injured gravel. A level three monster was rendered helpless by the team of three chasers with well coordination, a will to follow the order and of course their good weapons.
"What is the name of this monster?" Qiao asked when he was piercing the skin for the spoils.
There were three crystals emitting a blinding light that they acquired after the hunt was finished. He has seen many spoils, dull, transparent, and creepy but this differed in terms of look, "This White Mull is one of the rarest monsters in the lower forest and it has less experience facing the chasers. This is why despite being a level three, it was unable to stand for long which was beneficial for us," Quipu spoke.
He was not pointing that their hunt was not very well coordinated but the fact that the White Mull had less exposure and typically remained in their habitat.
If they had not had this advantage, the hunt would have been impossible and making retreat would have been very tough.
"Then we should thank our luck today," Qiao chuckled, he was examining the crystals, there were only three so it was simple to divide.
"But keep in mind that luck is not always available in the times of trouble," he handed the share and reminded them to be prudent and alert. Then they started their journey back to the new Guild.
Though it was a lot harder than hunting in a bigger team, they cannot deny that they earned more. In regards to the shares and experience, it was risky but the perks were abundant. Quipu was more amazed at it.
Now he was seriously thinking to suggest the leader for taking quests rather than missions and they don't had the need for two or more team members.
"Quipu, you are thinking something which is almost impossible. As I told before, luck is not always available and we cannot solely rely on it. The 'probably or perhaps' circumstances could be dangerous and life is precious. You cannot waste it for one-time benefit, can you?" Qiao reminded him that greed should not be given a chance else they might not be able to rejoice life more.
"I am sorry, I was indeed thinking greedily," Quipu shook his head, and nodded his head in understanding. He was feeling remorseful for what he was thinking.
They were walking and then met a team of the chasers which belonged to the previous Guild,
"You are fortunate that the chasers in the Guild are not willing to open their mouths if they do, you will be in trouble," the leader pointed his sword toward Qiao and spoke.
"Let them open their mouth and hear what they have to say, I am also curious," Qiao pointed his shapeless weapon and spoke with the same attitude.
He was indeed curious as to what made those chasers run away as he was not sure what the wicked hunter had done. But there was no news from the Guild though it was good that no one was bothering them for it.
What was this silence for? He wanted to know.
The Guild might not take any action since it has its own concerns but the teams which were apprehensive about this youth thoughts they must take some steps to stop his advancement which was faster than usual.
The team then saw the weapon and stepped back in horror as they could tell from its aura. When did he buy this weapon, moreover a level four weapon? how many spoils did he earn in the few hunts during his stay in the previous Guild?
