Chapter 96: Perilous situation
Chapter 96: Perilous situation
Falling into the ground was something that Yun Jhin had experienced quite a lot of time previously but this time it was a situation that made even him furrow his brows in worry.
Yun Jhin could feel himself being absorbed by the ground as if it was quicksand and he could also feel that his connection to the surrounding ki was swiftly being cut off by a formation!
Luo Shang was saying some muffled curses as they both fell to the underground and became paralyzed.
Yun Jhin could feel his lungs contracting as his oxygen supply was cut off by something, he wasn't sure what maybe it was the formation as well?
Fortunately, his body was refined to a high degree so he didn't need much oxygen, Luo Shang's body was also created from a puppet dragon that didn't need oxygen as well, even though the puppet gained some organs after Luo Shang inhibited it, he could discard them if he wished to and continue living.
Yun Jhin gritted his teeth as he could feel the surrounding gravity pushing down on him, he didn't know where they were supposed to be but Luo Shang shouted something about his brother leaving something behind.
Yun Jhin crawled slowly towards him and slapped his chest, Luo Shang glared at Yun Jhin and sent him an explanation via his soul willpower:
"I'm not sure where we are but I can feel the surroundings being infested by that fool's aura, all I can tell you is that we are in his territory!"
Luo Shang wasn't sure if his brother took the same actions as he did to keep a piece of his soul to resurrect but it was most unlikely considering the changes he went through after he was poisoned by that human expert.
Yun Jhin's body finally acclimated to the surrounding environment and slowly got up from the ground, he and Luo Shang were now both running on their inner ki and they couldn't recover it from their surroundings anymore.
However, Yun Jhin had a huge surplus of energy after he ate those 50 to 70 thousand King Realm experts along with the Emperor realm woman and he could use it to recover, however, he didn't know what kind of dangers were inside this underground place so he decided to break through first.
He did a few hand seals and Luo Shang became limp as a noodle as he fell to the ground paralyzed, he just acclimated himself to the environment as well and he got up from the ground only to fall again due to Yun Jhin.
Yun Jhin sat cross-legged on the ground as he put his attention on his soul's crown.
Muffled screams could be heard from Luo Shang as he cursed all Yun Jhin's ancestors.
Yun Jhin started to use the surplus of energy inside of him to create his next jewel, the law of death that was memorized in his soul left it and transformed into the character for death, it was brown and it flowed smoothly through Yun Jhin's inner soul space.
Yun Jhin took the death character and started hammering it with his soul willpower to the point that it liquified then he used his inner soul flame to harden it, after that he slowly but surely transformed it into a shining jewel after the jewel was finished he inscribed the character for death on it.
The jewel was bedazzling to the eye but it was so cold that you would think it came from an iceberg, if anyone else besides Yun Jhin would hold it, they would surely become ice statues.
Yun Jhin's soul willpower easily picked the death jewel and slowly pushed it into the 5th empty slot on his soul crown.
A dark light engulfed his soul crown as the jewel easily inserted itself in the slot after Yun Jhin pushed it near.
Yun Jhin's physical eyes suddenly opened as they glowed with a dark light, his whole body was going through transformations along with his ki, his ki was gaining a cold dark attribute that would freeze both the souls and bodies of his enemies.
His body was also hardening akin to undead but his life force remained the same, he wasn't transforming into an undead nor into a living undead but he was gaining the qualities of one, at least his outer body did.
Yun Jhin decided against refining his new jewel as he needed the remaining surplus of energy to continue running through his body and replace any ki he lost.
Yun Jhin got up from the ground and looked at Luo Shang who was also finishing cultivating, even though he was angry that Yun Jhin tied him up like this he also understood that Yun Jhin didn't trust him at all, so he decided to finish his breakthroughs so they wouldn't give him any hidden sequelae.
Yun Jhin did a few more hand seals and Luo Shang could finally move again. Luo Shang didn't comment again as he followed Yun Jhin, their surroundings were cold, damp, and dark, Yun Jhin tried to illuminate them but the formation that surrounded them immediately stopped the outside ki, Yun Jhin realized that he could only use his ki to strengthen his body in a fight and wouldn't be able to shoot it outside of his body, however it was enough for him.
Luo Shang cursed his brother viciously under his breath as he looked around, he wasn't familiar with his brother's formations anymore as they all changed their forms after he was poisoned.
Yun Jhin also didn't understand the intricacy of the formation, even though he was a connoisseur of the art that didn't mean he knew every formation in existence, after all, the righteous sects out there wouldn't let him get his hands on their formations and from what it seemed Bumi Ming's formation was an orthodox sect formation that Yun Jhin wasn't familiar with at all!
Yun Jhin sighed as he walked in the front and Luo Shang in the back, after a certain while of walking they finally reached a wall that they couldn't move, they were blocked and Yun Jhin could feel that his surroundings were getting smaller and smaller!
They walked into a trap!
Yun Jhin's eye started glowing as he infused them with his ki and he looked around to see if there was any weak spot in the formation so they could escape from their predicament.
Luo Shang didn't know much about formations so he would only attack the spot Yun Jhin would attack to help him.
Yun Jhin narrowed his eyes as he looked around and then shook his head while saying:
"I can't believe I say this but this is a flawless formation, I'm not sure if we can escape from here."
Luo Shang gritted his teeth, he just revived and he was going to die again? This wasn't what he wanted!
At least he would be able to reincarnate now.
Luo Shang sighed as he accepted his fate but Yun Jhin couldn't, if he died now he would die forever!
Yun Jhin looked at Luo Shang and an idea came to mind, maybe the formation would react to Luo Shang's blood?
Yun Jhin easily got in front of him as he slashed his arm open making blood to drop freely from it, Luo Shang glared at Yun Jhin but then his eyes widened in surprise as he could feel that their surroundings weren't closing in anymore, actually he could see light coming from the ceiling!
Yun Jhin looked around and saw that they were in a similar place to the tomb of Luo Shang, however, there were no inscriptions to the walls nor any treasures around, it was eerily empty.
Suddenly they were teleported away from the corridor that they were in into an open room, there wasn't anything in the room beside a light wisp that sat on a small throne, the wisp stood there as an aged voice could be heard coming from it:
"Brother, it seems your plan has gone well..."
Luo Shang's eyes widened both in anger and surprise as he shouted:
"YOU, YOU, HOW DID YOU SURVIVE!"
The voice could be heard chuckling as it said sadly:
"I only survived to this day so I could stop you from reviving, after all, you are pure evil!"
Then the voice changed, it didn't have hatred in it, nor any other emotion besides being cold, hard, and judging.
Yun Jhin could understand something from their conversation and chuckle inside, it seemed that Luo Shang was right, the poison didn't affect him much but it affected Bumi Ming a lot, such type of judging attitude couldn't be born in a dragon, dragon's were pure and emotional creatures, there was no way a dragon could lose his emotions by normal means, even in their death beds they would sigh with emotions and think about their past.
Luo Shang shouted to him:
"YOU DON'T SEE THAT YOU WERE THE ONE MOST AFFECTED BY THE POISON, WAKE UP BROTHER!"
Yun Jhin clobbered him on the head making him shut up, the light wisp moved a bit as the aged voice stated, still emotionless:
"And who is this, Luo Shang?"
Luo Shang hated Yun Jhin but he hated Bumi Ming even more so he kept his mouth shut and didn't say anything.
Yun Jhin looked at the light wisp and a small smile appeared on his face as he said:
"My name is Yun Jhin, your highness might have heard of my exploits, even though I would have been dead by the time you heard of me."
The light wisp started to turn a blue color as it said:
"You are... you are even worse than the devils and demons! So many lives lost, so much hatred, Yun Jhin!"
Yun Jhin's reputation preceded him again, in this situation it put him tightly on the spot, he could feel his surroundings tightening again as his body was crushed under the invisible pressure, the voice stated in an emotionless voice:
"Your crimes are way worse than my little brother's, I shall execute you first!"
Yun Jhin's eyes widened in fear as he took two steps backward but his back hit an invisible barrier to separated him from Luo Shang, Luo Shang tried to break the barrier but his fist remained bloodied as he hit it a few times.
Yun Jhin clutched his throat as he could feel someone grabbing it, an image of an old man appeared, he was like a twig, his complexion was dry as the dessert and his beard hit the ground, he wore nothing but white robes that had the character for judgment on them inscribed countless times over, seemingly as if someone possessed him to write these characters on the robes.
Yun Jhin clawed at the hand that was grabbing his throat but he could feel his consciousness slipping away, he could see the man's other hand making a chopping motion as he was ready to decapitate Yun Jhin!
Yun Jhin's eyes glowed for a brief moment before his head flew into the air and a pool of blood started to gather onto the ground.
Luo Shang fell onto the ground as he looked at the grisly sight in front of him, he wasn't scared because of what happened to Yun Jhin, but what will happen to him!
Luo Shang back was full of sweat as he said:
"Brother let's not be hasty, after all, we are brothers, I didn't even do that many evil things, could you please pardon me?"
The old man shook his head slowly as he took a few more steps forward, however, something changed, his transparent face scrunched up as he looked down at the ground.
Yun Jhin's blood pool dropped through the formation that surrounded him and transformed into a hexagonal formation on the ground which trapped him inside just like he did to the two of them!
A voice could be heard into Luo Shang's head that forced him to move:
"Throw your heart blood into the formation!"
As if he was possessed Luo Shang split his chest open and made a small opening on his heart, then he threw the blood through the formation that was surrounding him and it went unobstructed!
The drops of blood flew down onto the hexagonal formation and it started to glow with an ominous light.
Bumi Ming's face started to morph from terror as he looked down at the formation and finally deciphered its use!
Bumi Ming tried his best to struggle out of the formation but the heart blood from Luo Shang activated itself as it entered his body, weakening him making him unable to escape for a few seconds.
And that was all Yun Jhin needed.
