Chapter 433 About To Get Interesting
433 About To Get Interesting
Back in the locker room, Norman didn't have much to tell the players apart from the fact that they had to be more aggressive in the second half.
They were doing pretty well in the first few minutes of the first half until Villarreal began to get more aggressive, if it wasn't for their defense, their opponents would have gotten an equalizer by now.
Norman had some things to correct but unlike the other matches where they had a lot on the line, he wasn't raising his voice or trying to call out anyone specifically.
All he was telling them was to either go hard and get a second or third goal or put everything they had into their defense and make sure the scoreline stayed the same.
After talking to the players for a while, Norman finally left the room to give them some alone time before they would have to head back to the pitch for the second half.
The players stayed in the locker room for a while before they were finally told to start making their way to the pitch to kick off the second half.
"Welcome back everyone, the players are making their way back to the pitch now as the second half is just about to kick off," Jim announced.
"Villarreal really have to step up their game in this half, they have everything on the line whilst for Unique this feels just like a friendly match but they're still not slacking off because of that." Steve articulated.
Villarreal were the ones to start the match from the kick-off spot in the first half which meant that Unique FC were going to be the ones to do it in this half.
Fredinho was standing over the ball now waiting for the referee's whistle and as soon as he heard it, he quickly sent the ball rolling to Minino.
"There's the whistle and we are back into the game."
"I don't even know what to say at this point, in the other matches, I expected the teams to put up some sort of effort against Unique FC but in the end, the Bilbeth Premier League side ended up outclassing them. Although this situation is a bit different, Villarreal should be hungrier for the win but I have a feeling the home team are just as hungry for the win as they are." Steve articulated.
Unique FC passed the ball around on their side for a while before straight up going for an attack.
It all started as soon as Martinez received the ball from Minino and sent it flying over to Carlos down the right wing.
The winger had players coming toward him from the front and back so after bringing the ball down, he quickly sent it rolling to Harry.
"Harry."
Harry feigned firing the ball toward the goalpost before he quickly pushed the ball back to Martinez with a backheel pass.
As soon as Martinez got his foot on the ball, he quickly sent it rolling to Roland on the left side.
Roland quickly pushed down a little with the ball before pushing it forward to Harry who had Mateo quickly heading toward him at that time.
"They're going all out here."
All Harry did was give the ball a little push for Mateo to take it.
The winger quickly dragged down the edge of the box with the ball, and just before he could attempt to cut into the box with the ball, he was brought down under a terrible challenge before another player came and landed on top of him.
"Oh, dear, that doesn't look good," Jim commented.
The referee blew his whistle as he slowly made his way to the area.
It didn't look like the defender was going to be let off lightly as the referee seemed to be reaching deep into his pocket, and just like everyone guessed, he brought out a yellow card to show the defender.
"Looks like we just got the first booking of the game."
"Yeah, and now Unique FC now have a free kick in a pretty good spot, this could be their chance to double it," Steve commented.
It was obvious that Mateo was going to be the one taking the free kick as he was standing over the ball now while Villarreal set up their four-man wall inside the box.
"Mateo's stepping up to take the free kick, can he give his team that second goal?"
The referee made sure that there was nothing out of place before he blew his whistle, and now it was time to see what the winger could do with this one.
their advances.
17:00
It seemed like Norman was quite comfortable with his team and believed that he had the match in the As soon as he heard the whistle, he slowly took three steps backward and paused for a while before he quickly closed up on the ball and fired it toward the goalpost.
"Mateo!"
The ball was sent flying toward the top left-hand side of the goalpost as Jeremy quickly took off toward it.
He managed to get the tip of his glove on it, but that wasn't enough to stop it as the ball ended up hitting the post before smashing right into the net.
"And he puts it in!"
As soon as the winger saw the ball fall into the net, he raised his hands as his teammates quickly rushed toward him.
"That was mesmerizing! The wonder kid striking from a spot kick once again!"
The fans were left aghast after witnessing that spectacular free kick from the winger, even some of the opposing fans couldn't help but applaud him.
Villarreal players on the other hand were in shambles at this point.
They came to this match with the hope of winning with at least a goal but right now it felt like everything was crumbling right in front of them, it was devastating.
"That goal takes them two goals up and leaves Villarreal in a devastated state, it's going to be pretty hard for them to come back from this one."
"Let's go!" Dave yelled from his goalpost before raising both of his hands.
"Unique FC are quite determined to come out of this group with just victories and with that goal I can see that happening more clearly now."
After that goal, Villarreal became quite aggressive especially when chasing the ball but still things weren't working out quite well for them because the home team were doing quite well in blocking their advances.
It seemed like Norman was quite comfortable with his team and believed that he had the match in the bag because that was the only explanation that could be given for the kind of substitutions he made in the sixty-second minute.
He made four substitutions at that time and some of them were pretty questionable.
The first one was pulling out Mateo and replacing him with Henry, then he replaced Minino with Edward.
Roland was replaced by Jonas and then finally Fredinho was replaced by Gregory.
"Looks like Norman is pulling out the players he wants to rest for the next part of the tournament or maybe he's being cautious and trying to avoid injuries."
<I have a feeling things are about to get interesting>
'Yeah, I'm getting that feeling too, and it's not in a good way.'
