Chapter 18
C18 – Lightning Battle Spirit
The shrill sound of electricity and the dazzling burst of light drew the eyes of every examinee in the “Awakening Hall” to the spectacle unfolding before them. They were all eager to witness what kind of battle spirit would be awakened by such a formidable candidate.
It wasn’t just the examinees who were captivated; the teachers leading the exam were equally engrossed, sparking discussions among themselves:
“As long as it’s not an Infant, we’re definitely looking at a senior class battle spirit!”
“Lightning is arguably one of the strongest elements. A battle spirit with such an attribute is bound to be formidable!”
“Take note of the lightning’s intensity. This candidate’s Battle Spirit Bloodline must be incredibly potent!”
“Absolutely! If it’s not an Infant, this candidate is on track to be recognized as a genius!”
……
Nearly all the teachers supervising the exam converged, eager to bear witness to the emergence of a genius.
After a brief period, the intense electric glow began to subside, and the Grimoire of Demon Spirits above Qin Hongyu’s head slowly took on a tangible form. The grimoire was entirely white, its material reminiscent of flawless white jade, resembling an exquisitely crafted work of art.
“Qin Hongyu, you may now summon your battle spirit,” the teacher overseeing the awakening finally regained his composure and said with an expectant tone.
The Grimoire of Demon Spirits began to stir as if caught in an unseen breeze, aligning with Qin Hongyu’s intent and drifting into his hands. Qin Hongyu inhaled deeply, steadied his breath, and opened the chilling Grimoire of Demon Spirits.
Greeting him was a snow-white Serpent Spirit, which seemed to thrill at the sight of its master, flicking its tongue in excitement. Its tongue was as white as the rest of it.
With a mere thought from Qin Hongyu, a small summoning circle materialized in his other palm. Instantly, the white serpent from the grimoire swiftly entwined itself around Qin Hongyu’s arm.
“Hiss, hiss, hiss…”
The white serpent, roughly the length of Qin Hongyu’s arm, affectionately nuzzled against his arm, occasionally extending its frosty tongue to gently lick Qin Hongyu’s cheek.
“Serpent Spirit?!” The teacher overseeing the awakening process couldn’t hide his disappointment, giving Qin Hongyu a look of sympathy before murmuring softly, “What a shame.”
The other instructors who had been eagerly watching the Awakening Formation surrounding Qin Hongyu couldn’t help but express their dismay.
“We thought Sacred Heart Academy was about to unveil an unparalleled prodigy! Turns out it’s just a crippled Battle Spirit—such a letdown!”
“With hundreds of Infant Spirits to awaken, why did it have to be a Serpent Spirit? What a waste!”
The onlooking teachers all wore expressions of regret, akin to the gut-wrenching feeling of having all but the last number on a million-dollar lottery ticket—more bitter than swallowing a fly.
Qin Hongyu, however, paid no mind to the surrounding commentary. He immediately checked the attributes of his Battle Spirit in his mind:

[Battle Spirit Skills]: Death Bind, Electric Arc Flash
