Chapter 243: Negotiating
Chapter 243: Negotiating
"I refuse!" Lucien said with furrowed eyebrows.
No matter what Derik said, he was completely against wiping out an entire race of dragons without trying to talk it out in the first place.
"This is not how we do things!" Lucien added and Derik only laughed lightly.
He took a step forward and tapped Lucien's forehead with his index finger, making a series of images surge in! Lucien saw Derik and a golden-haired youth dressed in a golden sleeveless mage robe, rise to the air and battle more mages like them! The fight was short and Derik quickly gained an advantage over them, killing them all.
He didn't stop there! Lucien watched as Derik made strange movements, pulling out the souls of every living thing alive on that planet, using it to fuel his power and that of the golden-haired youth. A Series of images of Derik mercilessly wiping out extremely large numbers of people flashed through his eyes in just a second.
"Shit!" Lucien screamed while jumping back. His face was covered in sweat and his body trembled. Seeing everything Derik had done sent cold chills down his spine, making him wonder if he was actually with the right person here.
Was Derik the good guy in his world or the bad guy?
Lucien couldn't help but ask that question since, in all the visions he saw, every enemy that dared to face Derik was trembling in fear!
"Many call it evil! Many call it different names... All I see is a necessary sacrifice! I do what is necessary to achieve victory! No sentiments, no hate or love attached to it and that's why I grew faster and farther than everyone!" Derik said coldly while moving in circles around Lucien.
He didn't blame the kid for his reaction, since he was still too young to engage in things like this. Unlike him, Lucien didn't grow alone. He still hard a few people that loved him dearly. Like the Phoenix emperor, Instructor Han, Alice, and a few others but during his own time, he was forced to fight against the forces of his kingdom and the people he called friend.
Gravely injured in the battle, Derik had no other choice but to flee and hide for over a decade before returning! A decade of hiding from the people he swore to love and protect! How could Lucien understand his pain?
"I hate the thought of this" Lucien complained but Derik only chuckled at this.
"But you had no issues wiping out the ant colony?" Derik asked with a raised eyebrow, making Lucien freeze.
He leaned forward and tapped Lucien's shoulder slightly with a sinister smile on his face.
"That's different! They are insects!" Lucien said making Derik laugh.
"What's the difference?" Derik chuckled.
"Dragons are higher life forms! They are comparable to humans if not smarter!" Lucien argued and Derik's eyes turned cold.
"You do not bother when you step on ants just because the difference between you and it is too vast... You don't bother when animals are slaughtered just for you to feed but a human dies and you all cry! Fucking hypocrites! They are all the same... We die today it tomorrow, it is no more important than the ant the died a day ago! All that matters is what we achieve and we can't achieve much without doing what's necessary" Derik's grip on Lucien's shoulder tightened but Lucien's body was strong enough for him to ignore the grip.
He soon left Lucien and walked towards the stone gate with blazing black eyes.
"I was going to have you open it, let me in and I will wipe them out... Or I can destroy this gate and remove the seal... Let them out and see what happens next... Dragons are beings of pure destruction! You are a fool to think that keeping such beasts alive will do humanity any good" Derik said as he placed his hand on one edge of the stone gate and let his death aura surge violently.
Peng!
Derik's arm was blown back by a bright blue barrier but that didn't stop him from trying again! His death aura spread extremely wide, trying to consume the gate from all sides, all at once!
Seeing this, Lucien was lost! He didn't know how to react to tho. He didn't feel this way when fighting against the troublesome ants but now he was biased because he felt dragons are much smarter!
[True dragons bring about only chaos and destruction... That's why they were sealed away in the first place... If the person who sealed them away had the power to kill them all, he would have done it in the first place] Rakuzen finally spoke.
[I didn't inherit the inheritance of the dragon god beast simply because I refused to live like them... An inheritance that grants you power through rage... Imagine if I were like that from the start when you acquired the system... Do you think you would have been able to progress this far?] Rakuzen added and Lucien shook his head.
He understood the point Rakuzen was trying to make. He had only progressed this far because Rakuzen was not a real dragon. He was a human spirit beast cultivator who fused with his dragon spirit beast to become this. If Lucien was dealing with a real dragon from the start, he probably would have been dead by now or he probably would have lost control over his body to it.
"I will open the gate only on one condition!" Lucien yelled and only then do Derik stop trying to destroy the gate.
"What?" Derik answered in a slightly annoyed tone as he stopped trying to consume the entire stone gate with his death aura.
"The eggs will be allowed to live! The baby dragons will not be murdered... Also, we will give you the chance to talk first! If they do not listen to reason... I will help you kill them all" Lucien said and Derik frowned
"Do you think I do not have the strength to wipe out a bunch of dragons? I have my methods!" Derik said calmly, instantly refusing her request!
