Chapter 110 When Am I Expecting?
"Perhaps I am, perhaps I’m not." She shrugged as her lips tilted upwards.
Zhao Lifei’s sweet smile immediately mesmerized him. He looked at her like a lovestruck fool, completely caught up by her smile.
He was originally green with envy that someone else had taken her on a date before he ever got the chance. How could Ruqin betray him like this? She clearly knew they had a history together, but not only did she pair her up with multiple men, he was not even considered to be one of her blind dates!
"Now go back to your company and make more money." She gave his chest a light push in hopes of encouraging him to walk out the door.
He had a foolish smile on his face, and at that moment he looked just like an overly pampering husband. He grabbed her dainty fingers and gently kissed it. The more he looked at her bright smile, the more his frustration washed away. She was rarely this nice to him and he wanted the moment to last.
"Alright, I will go and make more money for us." He teased before cupping her cheeks and pressing a soft kiss upon her forehead. He made sure to shift his angle so that everyone in the room had a full view of his intimate action, making a possessive claim. She was his and no one else’s.
"Be good, alright?" He thought about kissing her until they were both breathless, but there were too many people in here. She wouldn’t like that one bit.
"I already planned to behave." She rolled her eyes at his constant insistence for her to stay.
With a nod, he strolled towards the door, accompanied by the bodyguards surrounding Yang Ruqin. Walking behind him, the bodyguards looked like thugs instead of simple men. Yang Yulong and Chen Gaonan went to exit the room as well.
Yang Feng paused at the door, turning back to give his sister a warning glare. "Behave. Don’t stress her out. If you do, even she wouldn’t be able to stop me from bringing you back home." He threatened her. Not caring for her reply, he walked out of the door.
Yang Ruqin watched her brother’s silhouette disappear down the hall and stuck her tongue out at him. "Bully!" She cursed at him in an extremely quiet voice, in fear that he would hear her and consequently change his mind.
She stomped to Lifei’s bedside with a soft pout on her face. "Feifei, I don’t understand what you see in such a stubborn man!"
Zhao Lifei laughed at her best friend. "That’s your brother. I’m glad you know stubbornness runs in your veins." She was happy to see Yang Ruqin’s bubbly personality after such a long time. It felt as if she hadn’t seen her in forever.
Yang Ruqin gasped, her mouth opening and closing. She was at a loss for words and could only deepen her pout. "Feifei! I’m not stubborn!" Her fingers itched to loop itself around Lifei’s arm to shake it like she always does. But her Feifei is currently injured so she restrained herself.
Zhao Lifei rolled her eyes. "Yeah, right."
"If you keep on rolling your eyes, it will permanently stay that way..." Yang Ruqin huffed, then stomped her foot on the ground and glowered at Lifei.
"Stubborn and childish, you know guys really like that trait." Zhao Lifei teased her. Deciding to save the argument for later, she turned towards the waiting doctors to indicate she was ready for them.
Han Wuting stepped forward along with his team of doctors. After probing her, asking thorough questions, and performing a full check-up, they didn’t take note of anything of concern aside from her malnourished body.
Zhao Lifei noticed how professional Han Wuting was despite the intimidation he had gotten from Yang Feng. She had an inkling suspicion he wouldn’t be her primary doctor very soon...Her intuition was proven correct when Han Wuting was ushered out of the room after finishing the check-up.
Right when he left, a bodyguard came in carrying at least four bags of food. Before she could even register what had happened, a table was propped on her bed and a feast was laid out for her.
"Enjoy your meal, Madam." The bodyguard said, bowing and leaving as fast as he had come.
Zhao Lifei was surprised to see so many dishes in front of her. All of the dishes are the ones that are cooked to feed people who are recovering their health.
"Qinqin, did you order this?" She noticed that the meticulously packaged food boxes had the restaurant name, "Golden Inn." She was confused to see this luxury restaurant allow a takeout order. They were known to be extremely strict about only having their food eaten at the restaurant to keep it fresh and would only serve five guests a day.
"No...But I’m sure my stubborn brother has something to do with this." Yang Ruqin pulled up a chair and began to eat with Zhao Lifei.
"Golden Inn doesn’t do take outs. I can’t even make a reservation there as a supermodel!" Yang Ruqin and Zhao Lifei were equally confused on how Yang Feng was able to pull this off.
"That poor manager..." Zhao Lifei muttered, already guessing Yang Feng used his brute influence to have the chefs prepare something like this. Vegetable and chicken porridge, stir-fried spinach and eggs, ginseng chicken soup. Almost everything here was nutritious and meant to keep someone healthy.
After stuffing her stomach to the brim, Zhao Lifei laid back on her bed, drowsy from her food-coma. When she was about to doze off, Yang Ruqin shook her shoulders to wake her up.
She groaned in annoyance as she turned her head to look at her obnoxious friend.
"What is it?" She asked, staring incredulously at Ruqin’s expectant expression.
"You haven’t told me anything about you and Feng-ge! I want to know everything! Like did you guys have your first kiss yet — wait, you guys probably did since he can barely keep his hands off of you!" Yang Ruqin babbled on and on, not leaving Zhao Lifei any room to answer the questions.
"Ooo, tell me about when you knew you liked him! Has he confessed to you yet? Was it romantic? Also, did you guys have s*x yet? When am I expecting an adorable niece or nephew?! Oh my god, my parents would be so happy to hear this news! What names do you have in mind?" She paused to breath.
"Wait, you need to get married first. When’s the wedding? Where’s the wedding? Who do you plan on inviting and will I be your maid-of-honor? I better be! Oh my god, we’re finally going to be real sisters—"
"Alright, alright. One question at a time." Zhao Lifei sighed, pinching the spot between her brows. She was beginning to get a headache at how fast Ruqin was speaking.
"Sorry, sorry. I’m just really excited! It’s the first time you’ve got yourself such a good man! Not just good, but really great marriage material! I know my brother is really obnoxious, stubborn, mean, and selfish, sometimes even ugly too in the morning. He’s really dense too and—"
"Qinqin do you want to speak or do you want me to answer questions?" Zhao Lifei chuckled at Yang Ruqin’s childlike wonder. Her eyes were wide and it sparkled with curiosity as she thought about the questions to ask and things to say.
"Okay okay, sorry again. I’ll let you speak. Answer all of my questions!" Yang Ruqin excitedly said, awaiting all the juicy gossip.
"I won’t answer all of them but I will tell you everything from the beginning." Zhao Lifei sighed, summarizing everything from the day he sent over the purse, to the gift war, to the day he showed up as her date to the banquet, and all the nights they had spent together. She only briefly mentioned that he agreed to wait for her, but the prelude to that conversation was totally omitted.
By the time she finished, Yang Ruqin’s jaw had long dropped to the floor. She couldn’t believe her brooding brother could be so...so...so loving!
She never imagined he had any romantic bone in his body. But then she remembered that even as kids, his attitude had always been better with Feifei around.
He doesn’t even pamper his little sister, yet here he was, acting like a henpecked husband! She thought it was strange seeing him act so adoringly towards Feifei in her apartment, but it was like that from the very beginning!
Yang Ruqin threw herself on top of Zhao Lifei. "Oh Feifei, I truly admire how fearless you are!" She said, her voice light and airy, like a dramatic damsel who couldn’t believe the situation she was in.
"What do you mean?" Zhao Lifei shifted her body to support Yang Ruqin so that she didn’t collapse right into the mattress with her.
"Don’t think I’ve forgotten you throwing money on his face! And just now, you even argued with him. You’re so awesome that you can keep him on a tight leash! It’s honestly amazing." Yang Ruqin exclaimed before sitting properly on her seat again.
She giddily clapped her hands, happy that her best friend is being treated very well by her brother. But the best thing about it is that after all these years, there was someone that can finally protect her from her brother’s wrath — it was none other than her best friend!
