Chapter 85 She Is Hungry
As soon as Mr. Fang helped her up and wanted to let her arms go, she fell on him, and instinctively, he caught her arms.
His brows furrowed in a tight frown. His countenance cold.
"What do you think you are doing?" He questioned in a cold tone as his breath teased her neck.
This was not the right moment to enjoy his touch and being in a close proximity as him, for she could also feel his irritation and anger, even in her weakness.
"Mr. Fang, I haven't eaten..." Zhang Liling said in ragged weak breathing.
'She is weak because she hasn't eating anything since today?' Mr. Fang couldn't believe his ears. He wanted to scold her and ask why she hasn't eating anything since she opened her eyes in the morning, but he refrained from doing that.
There was no need getting angry at a weak young woman like her, it would be a waste of time and a waste of his emotions.
"You haven't eaten since today, are you a child?" He asked in gritted teeth as he led her out of his study, but Zhang Liling did not reply him.
At this point, she was far too weak to open her mouth. She wouldn't even mind if he thought her to be rude or brainless.
She just wished that he could take her down the stairs and ask for food to be brought before her, that way she wouldn't drop dead the next minute.
Seeing that she wasn't even making any attempt to speak, he guessed that she must be very weak, and refrained from saying anything to her, despite his anger.
At first when she said that she was weak because she hasn't eating the whole day, he wanted to call the butler to come and take her away, but if he left her side, she might fall, so he just optioned to take her down the stairs by himself.
Chuanli and Bolin were chatting in the sitting room when they heard the weird distorted sound of someone's footsteps coming down the stairs.
Both men exchanged glances and decided to go and check if Mr. Fang had decided to come down for the long awaited lunch.
Before they could get there, they heard the butler's surprised outburst, then they quickly rushed over, only to see Zhang Liling looking all weak, and being supported by the man whose cold gaze was capable of freezing a human being.
Chuanli and Bolin exchanged shocked glances while thinking, 'Did he hit her?'
The next moment, the two of them rushed to Mr. Fang's side to assist him with holding Zhang on each arm.
"Take her to the dining room!" Mr. Fang instructed as he allowed them to take Zhang Liling from him.
"Bingwen, what happened to her? Why is she not saying anything, why is she so weak?" Chuanli asked while supporting Zhang Liling.
"Are you not supposed to figure that out given that you are a renowned professional in the medical field? Or are you a quack?!" Mr. Fang said in annoyance before shifting his gaze to the shocked butler.
"Has the food been served?" He asked.
Butler Gu hurriedly replied, "Not yet, Sir."
"What are you waiting for?!" Mr. Fang asked in a raised tone. His anger was clearly visible in his tone.
Butler Gu didn't need a soothsayer to tell him that he was angry. Quickly, he bowed slightly in apology before leaving his presence.
Mr. Fang huffed before walking towards the direction of the dining room.
After helping Zhang Liling to sit on the chair and lean her weight on the table, Chuanli quickly took her hand, and placed his thumb on her wrist, a little distance below her thumb finger.
He was trying to press on her artery there, and examine her through it. He wanted to feel her pulse to find out what was wrong with her.
Bolin noticed his actions, and stood at a place to watch him, while trying not to make any distracting gesture.
Zhang Liling sighed to herself as she watched Chuanli try to examine her. She wished she could just tell him to bring food for her instead of wasting both of their time, but unfortunately, she was too weak to make any audible sound.
Now, she was wondering while Mr. Fang didn't explain her situation to him, when he asked about it. She wondered if he was trying to teach her a lesson even in this state she was in.
Ten seconds later, Chuanli slowly dropped her arm before going further to check her pupils.
"What is wrong with her?" Bolin asked curiously. He has been in suspense for a while now to not ask about how things were going.
"She is weak. Her pulse is faint."
"Why is she weak? Did she overwork herself or?" Just as Bolin asked that question, Mr. Fang replied as he stepped in.
"She is hungry."
'Huh?'
"She hasn't eating anything since today after getting drunk last night. She did a load of work on an empty stomach, so she is bound to faint." Mr. Fang finished his statement and came to stand in front of Zhang Liling.
"What? She is hungry? Why would she starve herself?" Chuanli asked in disbelief. "And what's that about her getting drunk? Did she do that in your house?"
"Is this the trouble she caused?" Bolin muttered under his breath.
Mr. Fang didn't answer them. He gave Zhang Liling one last look before going to sit at the head of the table.
In less than a minute later, Butler Gu and the chef, brought in several dishes and laid them on the dining table.
As soon as the aroma of the food wafted into Zhang Liling's nostrils, a growling sound was heard from her stomach.
Chuanli and Bolin exchanged glances and broke out in a chuckle. Bolin was trying hard to act appropriately, while Chuanli chuckled hysterically.
'She is truly hungry!'
Zhang Liling was so embarrassed that she wished she had passed out.
Mr. Fang scoffed and looked away. Then he glanced at Chuanli and Bolin to ask with furrowed brows, "What is funny? If you don't want to eat quietly, leave my house!"
Immediately, they stopped laughing and found seats for themselves, before going to serve food for themselves.
Chuanli was kind enough to serve food to Zhang Liling. He put the plate of food in front of her before saying with a kind smile, "Miss Zhang, here is your food, but you need to drink a good quantity of water before you start eating."
As he was finishing his last sentence, he was uncapping a bottle of water and pouring the content into a glass cup, for her.
