Chapter 84 I Feel Faint
"Zhang Liling, don't you remember kissing me last night?"
That...that question, just came out of the blue without warning, shocking Zhang Liling's senses and chilling her bones at the same time.
'I kissed Mr. Fang last night? Why would I do that? Has my emotions gotten the better of me?'
Zhang Liling looked frightened while staring at Mr. Fang's face, as the man wasn't smiling. His tone sounded sluggish as if he wasn't bothered, but there was a gaze of impatience in his eyes.
Seeing how lost she was, Mr. Fang pounded his desk with his fist to bring her back to the present. "Are you ignoring me?"
Zhang Liling sensed the danger in his tone before quickly dropping to her knees with a small 'thud' sound. "Mr. Fang, I know you might not believe me, but I can't remember any of my actions last night. I can't remember getting into your bedroom."
Zhang Liling was almost on the verge of tears when she confessed. She was afraid that she would really get kicked out this time around, and had to employ self-pity upon herself.
Mr. Fang wasn't going to buy that! Whether she remembered and regretted her actions her last night, he didn't care.
"I don't care if you have a memory loss or not, I only want answers to my questions. I have never been treated like this by anyone from the opposite gender, you are the first one to do this. Did you draw your strength and courage after getting drunk? Was that a camouflage?"
Mr. Fang was wondering if she had been wanting to kiss him but didn't get the courage to do so since, and then had to cover up by getting drunk.
Zhang Liling was truly getting scared now by how far he was going with his hypothesis. Waving her hands about frantically, she said urgently, "Mr. Fang you are wrong! I mean, it was not my intentions to get drunk so I can get out of hand. I went to see my only closest friend in this City, Tungmei. We drank a bit, but I got carried away because I wanted to relief my stress."
"You drank too much because you wanted a relief for your stress? Who taught you that? Forget about that one!" Mr. Fang quickly dismissed the questions as quickly as it came.
Zhang Liling continued to kneel there, and was now feeling weaker for moving her hands about earlier. She didn't even have any strength left to continue arguing.
"Zhang Liling, think carefully before you answer my question. I want to know what prompted your action last night, because surely you wouldn't be kissing random people each time you get drunk. Why did you kiss me, do you like me?" Mr. Fang asked with an inquisitive gaze.
His gaze still looked so serious while staring at her.
'Huh!' Zhang Liling had a look of shock on her face because she wasn't expecting that he would go as far as questioning her feelings for him.
I mean, why did he have to concern himself about the feelings he shouldn't know at this time? Was he going to send her away if she says the truth?
What if she doesn't say the truth, would she not get another chance to confess her feelings to him? Would he no longer regard her for lying?
Zhang Liling's thoughts were is disarray. As much as she was shocked by that question, she still needed to think carefully before giving her response.
Mr. Fang continued to watch her while tapping his fingers on his desk. When he felt that she wasn't going to respond after 20 seconds more of waiting patiently, he withdrew his fingers from his desk, but then he heard her speak softly.
"Mr. Fang, I really like you, and that must have been what prompted my actions when I was drunk. I apologize for acting inappropriately, but I promise not to do anything absurd again." Zhang Liling confessed with her head lowered.
She was afraid to see his judging eyes, but she was not afraid to have confessed her feelings for him so openly without reservation.
Unlike the shameless thoughts that filled her head, she made sure to keep her confession clean, in order not to irritate him.
'What a bold one!' Mr. Fang thought and then released a deep sigh.
No anger or disgust could be seen on his face, but the next minute after being quiet with a neutral gaze, he turned serious.
"Miss Zhang, because you are a bold one who did not deny her feelings, I won't scold you or chase you out of my house, but I want what I'm about to say next to sink into your thick skill, because you are one trouble-looking woman I know!"
Mr. Fang said that and paused. Zhang Liling slowly raised her gaze to meet his eyes. There was a relief on her face.
She thought, 'If he doesn't scold me or chase me out of his house, then I can endure anything he wants to say next.'
After getting her attention, he continued, "I can never have anything to do with my student outside academics, so continue to hide your feelings while still working here. Also, I don't want anymore troubles from you. I can't remember ever tolerating someone for this long, you have to behave yourself and abide by the rules if you really want to have a good image."
Zhang Liling was so happy that she smiled happily. She couldn't believe that he was letting her off just like that for telling the truth.
"Thank you, Mr. Fang!" She said slowly, while trying to make her tone audible enough. She was so tired and weak that all she just needed was to eat and sleep.
"You can leave!" Mr. Fang said to her before going back to his work. He didn't want to see her face for the time being.
Zhang Liling was asked to leave, but she was sitting on her legs for almost a minute, making Mr. Fang to be irritated.
He glanced at her with furrowed brows and asked, "Are you not leaving?"
"Mr. Fang, is not that I don't want to leave... I can't stand up, and I feel faint." Zhang Liling said with a bitter expression on her face.
Just as she said that, a veil seemed to fall off Mr. Fang's eyes. He gazed at her face properly and saw how ashen it looked. Even her tone just now, sounded weak.
Mr. Fang thought back to the fact that she must be feeling unwell because of drinking too much last night, and had not taking any meds before starting with her punishment. He remembered Chuanli asking her to rest just before he left.
He glanced at her again to ask, "Are you unwell?" Zhang Liling shook her head.
"You are so troublesome!" Mr. Fang said in an annoyed tone before getting up from his seat, and then taking large strides towards her.
Mr. Fang actually helped Zhang Liling to stand up from the floor effortlessly, despite her entire weight, leaning on him.
