Chapter 69 69 Incurable Fate
"How did that human survive, did the commander fail" the mage muttered as he moved backward, "I have to summon more soldiers"
"And I have to kill you," Alex said at the back of the skeleton mage.
Alex was coming back with Max when he saw the skeleton mage moving backward and he changed his direction and went around the mage.
Mages in general were weak at close combat so Alex had the edge, he didn't know which spells the mage possess but he wouldn't give the mage enough time to fire a spell.
"Haaa..." Alex thrust both of his daggers toward the mage who was still shocked by Alex's sudden appearance.
*Boom*
[-60HP]
Both of Alex's daggers pierced the skeleton mage's skull and the mage immediately swung the item in his hands toward Alex.
The mage hit Alex just before he could jump away and the mage stumbled backward, a smile was plastered on the Mage's face as he had successfully defeated Alex.
Alex looked at his body but nothing was happening to him, the item in the Mage's hands began to glow and the mage stood up confidently.
Even though Alex's daggers were in the skull of the mage he could still fight, his increase in strength would definitely be helpful against a mage with nothing but bones.
Alex's raised both of his hands up and approached the mage immediately he felt a shock in the same spot he was hit, immediately his eyes became heavy and he couldn't keep himself standing.
Alex collapsed to the ground and used his hands to support himself to avoid falling completely.
"You have been cursed, but don't worry you would slowly turn into a skeleton and become one of my minions, puny humans" the mage smirked.
Alex's hands began to vibrate furiously then he fell flat on the ground, his body was screaming in pain as he tried to endure it, but no notification about his HP decreasing was shown so Alex had to endure the hellish pain.
Another pain washed over his chest but for some reason, all the pain in his body vanished except for his chest.
[Absorbing curse energy]
[Amplifying curse energy]
[Next attack contains curse energy]
Alex saw three notifications but none of them made sense, he didn't know what curse energy was and how he amplified it but the system told him that his next attack contained curse energy.
Alex tried to stand up but his body refused to obey his command, his legs had no strength but he struggled and used his hands to push his body upward.
"You can't struggle, you would eventually turn into a skeleton obeying all my commands," the mage said as he walked close to Alex.
"In your dreams..." Alex mumbled as he swung his fist, the mage couldn't help but laugh at how slow Alex's attack was.
The mage moved backward and easily evaded Alex's slow attack, Alex tried to attack again but he still couldn't muster the strength to attack.
"Are you that eager to attack" the mage stepped forward as Alex tried to attack again but this time the mage didn't dodge the attack instead he moved his hands to block the attack.
The mage caught Alex's fist and smiled brightly, suddenly the bones of the mage began to vibrate furiously and the mage staggered backward.
"Huh!..."
*Boom*
The body of the mage shattered to pieces in front of Alex and his eyes widened in surprise, this was what cursed energy means.
"What's wrong? ...all the skeletons turned to ash" Gabriel asked as he looked around.
"Alex..." Max shouted as he saw Alex barely on his feet, the three of them rushed towards him and help him stand straight.
"Rebecca heal him," Max said.
"I'm just tired it's not my HP, the mage did something to me and something strange happened," Alex said with his eyes opening and closing.
"Is he alright...is something wrong with him in the game or in real life?" Rebecca asked.
"I don't know...he said the mage did something to him so it's probably in the game"
"All the skeletons are dead, we should find a place to stay for the night, I'm really tired," Gabriel said.
"Do you know what the time is in real life, I don't even want to check because it's going to freak me out, we've been here a long time" Max said.
"We can just stay here, all the skeletons are gone and few plants are still here that provide light and we can rest at that tree" Rebecca suggested.
"That aside, Rebecca how did you figure out that your healing cane was a weapon against skeletons?" Gabriel asked.
"I didn't know it was a weapon, I just touched one of the skeletons and it died" Rebecca smiled.
"Maybe because it's a healing cane, healing spells are used by white magicians and white magicians are strong against undead soldiers so maybe that's why," Max said.
"I'm now an official player, a level 7 player" Rebecca smiled as she lay on the tree.
"If Alex wakes up we should log out of the game and attend to our real-life problems," Max said.
"You are right, I'm probably famished in real life, just thinking about it makes me hungry now" Gabriel spoke.
"I'm glad I decided to play this game, I hope we become best of friends," Rebecca said.
'Yes...I hope we become good friends, then I'll make a move on you and you are bound to fall for my charms then I would have everything I wanted, Rebecca star you are now my ticket to a better life' Gabriel mumbled under his breath.

Five figures stood tall clothed in an all-black attire that covered their entire bodies, they formed a circle and in the middle of the circle, a lifeless body lay there.
Alex took a deep breath and his eyes sprang open, his body jerked up immediately as he discovered he was in an unfamiliar location, this wasn't the game and it still wasn't the real world.
Around him five tall figures formed a circle and they were all clothed in black, Alex looked at each of them carefully but he still couldn't make out their faces, all he knew was that there were four men and a woman among them.
"Unspeakable..." one of the figures spoke and the voice echoed throughout the room.
"A Miscalculation..." another voice spoke.
"A Mistake..." the female voice spoke this time.
"How dare you bare the mark of a warrior, we have chosen and selected our avatar, how did this one come of existence," a voice said loudly than the rest of them.
Alex immediately turn towards the voice, he still couldn't make out or understand what was going on, all he knew was that they were angry about something.
"Who are you people and where am I?" Alex shouted, his voice didn't even cause a single echo.
"Puny human...bow your head for you stand in the presence of the five legendary Gods"
"Legendary Gods, I've never heard of you, and who are you referring to as a mistake?" Alex asked boldly.
"You are the mistake, an error in our perfect design, a miscalculation that needs to be corrected" the voice spoke.
"How am I a mistake...what is even going on here, how did I get here" Alex shouted.
"It seems this human needs to learn his place here" the female spoke like she was asking for permission to kill Alex.
"Human, you have lived a peaceful life since you were born but you were cursed with an incurable fate and therefore you need to die"
"What fate was I cursed with and why do I need to die?"
"You bare the mark of a sixth warrior, a bronze among diamonds, a corpse among living, a destruction to the world's balance, we have been selecting warriors to keep Earth's balance since the beginning of time and anytime a sixth warrior arose destruction always follows"
"What are you talking about, I don't bare the mark of anything" Alex shouted.
"Take off your clothes and the mark would reveal itself," another of the warrior said.
Alex's immediately remembered the mark on his chest, the mark that he discovered when he was in the dungeon, but then it disappeared.
Alex removed his clothes and to his surprise, the mark was right there on his chest glowing brightly in the dark room.
"The mark of destruction...I would have taken away any element of destruction and let you be but this is an unfortunate era, a great darkness threatens the world so you would need to die"
"Am I the great darkness, I don't even understand what you are saying" Alex shouted.
"The world is in danger and it is up to the five warriors to stop this danger, but the work of the sixth warrior is to destroy the balance so you need to be exterminated"
"What the fuck are you idiots saying, I'm going to destroy the world's balance, do you even hear yourselves, I don't know what you are or who you are but this world isn't falling into any darkness" Alex shouted.
