Chapter 68 68 Skeleton Army 2
Then we can capture them and retrieve the plants first"
"Humans...are you prepared to die" the mage shouted and the group quickly remembered the predicament they were in.
They were surrounded by skeletons with no way out, if they manage to stop the mage then the rest of the skeletons might die with the mage but the skeleton commander wouldn't sit still.
"Rebecca we'll surely come visit you," Gabriel said as they all took a fighting stance.
The three of them held their ground and formed a circle with Rebecca in middle, even though they knew they wouldn't survive, they would kill as many skeletons as they can.
"Rebecca in case any of us are hurt you'll have to heal us, you don't need to fight so don't worry, and if we eventually die, try to fight before you go down," Gabriel said.
"We should kill as many as we can and possibly level up," Alex said.
"Attack..."
Immediately the mage spoke all the skeletons moved into action and charged towards the group, Gabriel had wasted a good amount of his Mana so he only had little left.
[Mud trap]
Gabriel placed his hands on the ground and the ground softened and two of the skeletons began to sink, unlike humans they couldn't escape Gabriel's trap.
"So I don't need to kill you guys, I just need to trap you, lucky for you that doesn't use up much of my Mana" Gabriel smirked.
Max was stronger than the skeletons and his rare silver sword help him in quickly destroying any of the skeletons that comes too close.
Alex on the other hand was doing pretty well because of his speed and strength, the skeletons couldn't lay a hand on Alex as he nimbly avoided their attacks while striking a particular spot in the skeleton bones.
[You've Killed skeleton soldiers]
[You've earned 200XP]
After each attack in the same spot, the damage dealt increases till the skeleton is dead, so Alex exploited that weakness quickly killing any skeletons that come close to him.
"This is a really good place to grind for XP, if only the skeleton soldiers were our only problem" Alex mumbled.
"They are good warriors, few humans are this powerful against us" the commander spoke as he stood up.
"You are going to attack them, then this battle is over" the mage smiled as the commander set his eyes on Max.
"Errhmm...guys I think the commander is going to attack" Rebecca spoke as she sighted the commander.
Alex quickly took a look at the skeleton commander but it wasn't looking at him Instead he was looking at Max.
"Hey Max, I think the commander is angry with you" Alex spoke as he destroyed another skeleton.
"Don't worry I'm strong enough to take the comman..." Before Max could finish his statement the skeleton commander dashed towards him and swung his spear.
Max couldn't react fast enough to dodge so he blocked the attack with his sword and was sent flying, the power from the commander's spear pushed Max aside.
Alex quickly dashed towards the commander while Gabriel tried to activate his mud spell but the commander dashed away from them towards Max.
"He's going after Max, I'm going after him," Alex said.
"No...we have to..." Gabriel quickly trapped another skeleton and before he could speak Alex was gone.
"Gabriel...the skeletons are coming close, what do we do," Rebecca asked.
"Yes, and I'm out of Mana, Alex and Max are gone so this is it, o would visit you in the real world," Gabriel said as he smiled.
"So we should just wait for them to kill us, shouldn't we try to escape... I'm really scared" Rebecca spoke.
"Try to dodge their attack and attack them, but I doubt that would do anything, both of us are Mage so we can't deal damage with our bare hands," Gabriel said as he backed up.
Soon Gabriel and Rebecca were sides by side while the skeleton surrounded them, the first one attacked Gabriel and he dodged the attack by jumping backward and attacked the skeleton.
"Haaa..." Gabriel shouted as he punched the skeleton in front of him.
[-2HP]
"Huh!"
"Stay away" Rebecca shouted as she waved her healing cane in front of the skeletons while moving backward, Rebecca walked backward till her back touched Gabriel's back.
Now there was nothing that could be done, no way to escape, and no space to dodge any attack, all they could do was wait till the skeletons kill them.
"Raaawaaa" a skeleton in front of Rebecca screamed and raised his sword to attack her.
Unlike the rest of them, Rebecca was only level 3 meaning any successful attack that landed on her was most likely her death.
Rebecca held her healing cane and used it to strike the skeleton, she couldn't do anything else but wait to be killed. The skeleton looked at her but before it could swing its sword the body of the skeleton began to crumble.
[You've Killed skeleton soldiers]
[You've earned 200XP]
[LEVEL 3 -> LEVEL 4]
"I thought you said this isn't for attacking, I just killed a skeleton with my cane" Rebecca smiled brightly.
"What!!" Gabriel watched as Rebecca swung her healing cane at another skeleton and it crumbled to dust.
Alex moved quickly while avoiding the skeletons, if they have a chance to escape they would need the strength and defense of Max.
[-10HP]
"Ouch..." Max mumbled as he stood up, even though he blocked the attack he could stop himself from flying away.
Even though Max was pushed away, there were still skeletons surrounding the area, those skeletons didn't attack instead they stood still waiting, Max bent down and picked up his sword.
"Max look out" a voice shouted and Max turned around.
He jumped sideways just before the commander's spear could touch him, the ground shook as the spear made impact.
"Alex...what happened to Gabriel and Rebecca?"
"I don't know, but we have to take care of him first," Alex said as the skeleton commander stood up.
"Insolent humans, return the plants and we might settle this peacefully" the commander spoke.
"So you would let us go if we return the plants?" Max asked.
"Yes of course, retrieving the plants is more important than killing four humans"
"It seems the plants are important to them, how should we proceed?" Max whispered.
"There is no guarantee that they would kill us even if we return the plants and skeletons don't usually negotiate in all games I've played so far" Alex whispered back.
"Remove only one of the plants from your inventory and then we run back towards the other, I hope they are alive"
"He's really fast so he's going to catch up with us," Max said.
"Even if he catches up with us, he won't attack recklessly because of the plant in our hand," Alex said as he removed two of the plant from his inventory.
"I thought you said one, why are you bringing out two?" Max asked.
"Just do as I said and bring out the plants" Alex shouted.
"Yes, slowly drop it on the ground, gently" the commander.
Alex took a deep breath and threw one of the moonlight plants toward the commander, he quickly turned around and dashed away, Max immediately followed him.
The commander quickly dropped his spear and jumped towards the plants, he caught the plant before it hit the ground and carefully placed it on the ground.
"He's not coming after us, my plan worked after all," Alex said as they ran back.
All the skeletons that were present before were gone, as the two of them ran closer they saw tons of skeletons attacking.
"Why are the skeletons moving quickly now" Max was surprised.
"The mage had control over them, perhaps another group of players joined the battle, we better hurry"
"There are too many, I can't get them all and my head is starting to spin" Rebecca said as Gabriel moved her around.
Gabriel carried Rebecca while she used her healing cane to touch the bodies of the skeletons close to them, Gabriel was staring to get tired of carrying Rebecca when they heard a shout.
"Haa..." Max screamed as he used his sword to attack the skeletons.
"How did that human survived, did the commander fail" the mage muttered as he moved backwards, "I have to summon more soldiers"
"And I have to kill you" Alex said at the back of the skeleton mage.
