Chapter 89 Land Of Darkness
'I was expecting a hard battle between them, but it was a completely one-sided bloodbath.' Alex thought as he watched the guard storing the mangled body of the gorilla in his space ring.
'The area is clear, so let's enter the portal before another beast arrives.' Alex thought as he walked toward the exit of the protected area.
The seventh ring, or the center of the fortress, only had two teleportation chambers inside a high-grade protective barrier in a small area near the giant walls.
The center of the fortress was a four kilometers empty circle with no structure or building in it, and surrounding it were huge sturdy walls and high-grade barriers, and in the dead center, there was a huge space portal that was the entry point to the forbidden land.
Alex left the barrier and sprinted toward the huge portal in the distance, reaching it in less than three minutes.
'I wonder if in this life I could find the other continents with the entry portal to the forbidden land of darkness.' Alex thought, standing a few meters away from the hundred feet portal.
The forbidden land of darkness entry portal was located in all seven known big continents, but every continent portal would lead to a different designated area of the darkness land.
The size of the forbidden land of darkness was unknown, but it was common knowledge that all seven designated areas were just a small part of a much bigger area.
The information about the darkness land was not just speculated but tested and proven right, and anyone could easily test the information's validity by traveling to any designated area edge.
If someone travels in any direction of the Darkness land, he would eventually reach an invisible barrier called the edge or more commonly referred to as the zone separation barrier.
The zone separation barrier stopped anyone from traveling any further, but it didn't block the view, and to confirm the speculation of all darkness land areas being connected, few people just needed to be present at different separation barriers at the same time.
The task was effortless to achieve, and as elves and dragons were hungry for knowledge, both races confirmed this speculation after it was confirmed that every big continent had a giant portal that appeared probably at the same time a few decades ago.
The hypothesis that all darkness land areas were connected was confirmed, but with this simple test, it was also confirmed that there were at least more than sixteen portals.
As every portal only appeared on a big continent, it was speculated that in this giant world, there could be eleven more big continents on the same scale as the seven known continents.
Alex knew about two hidden continents, and as the speculation, the two hidden continents also had a same similar forbidden land of darkness entry portal on each of them.
'Let's enter the portal.' Alex thought as he entered the portal, and after a few seconds of being in the dark, he reached his destination.
'I never thought I would enjoy being in the forbidden land of darkness.' Alex thought as he took a few deep breaths to get comfortable with the environment of the darkness land.
The air in the forbidden land was extremely heavy, making it difficult to breathe normally for even a third Rank warrior, and it was primarily because of the higher density of darkness mana presence.
The forbidden land ground was pitch black while the sky was covered in thick greyish clouds, and even though there was no visible sun, the forbidden land was quite bright.
The mana density in the forbidden land of darkness was off the chart, but as it was only dark element mana and not neutral mana, it didn't act as a slow poison for weak adventurers.
'Let's quickly leave this fortress and get my legacy.' Alex thought, standing in front of the portal inside a heavily guarded fortress.
The fortress in the forbidden land of darkness was built in a circular shape around the portal, and the fort was very small in size.
The fortress only had a few buildings with average rooms that Sanguine Doom Guards used to rest when they needed to, but mostly every guard was either patrolling the fortress wall or was training to get stronger.
The Sanguine Doom Guards protected the portal and ensured no beast entered it, and the creatures that still reached the human continent didn't slip by the guards because those creatures didn't even enter through the main portal.
The forbidden land was huge, and it was known knowledge that sometimes random portals would open, and if a creature entered it, he would exit from the portal on the human continent, but the random portals could only be used by up to Peak fifth Rank creatures.
'A single Rank five invisibility potion would keep me invisible for twelve hours and also keep my presence to a minimal, and that time should be enough for me to reach the tomb if I don't encounter any Rank Five beast on my way.' Alex thought as he drank a purple starry liquid from a small potion bottle.
'Let's start the biggest marathon of my life.' Alex thought after becoming completely invisible.
After taking a few deep breaths and remembering the place he needed to reach, Alex started sprinting at a moderate pace toward his destination.
While Alex was running toward his destination, his shadow guardian Nachtor and her group were standing face to face with a handsome human with long gray hair, and the Beastmen group was not looking as carefree as they usually did.
---------------------
"Miss, If you can't give me any proper reason for your presence here, I can't let you or your group wander in my territory." The human man with a heavy voice said to Nachtor with a carefree smile.
The man had long grey hair and a clean-shaved face, and he was wearing casual cloth, not releasing any mana pressure, but all six Beastmen standing in front of him looked stressed.
"Sir Ulrico, I can take a blood oath that I have no bad intention to come to this place," Nachtor replied calmly, but one could easily tell she was worried.
"Miss Nachtor from the [Primeval Hollow Squad], I know you, and I also know what your duties are, but even with my great intellect, I can't understand why you and your squad are following that weak adventurer around as his guardians?" Ulrico said with a smile while looking in the direction that Alex had gone.
"Sir Ulrico, The adventurer is a member of the [Shadow World] organization," Nachtor said, lying about her mission but still revealing the information she believed to be genuine.
Nachtor didn't entirely lie because she knew if her reason for following Alex was anything less important, Ulrico would immediately know that she lied or was trying to hide information, and then things could become very complicated.
"I know that [Shadow World] organization is making contact with immortal adventurers to further their agenda, but someone like you targeting this weak adventurer could only mean that he is special," Ulrico said after thinking for a few seconds.
"Sir Ulrico, It was a pleasure meeting you," Nachtor said, and she vanished with her group.
"I am interested to know what is so special about that adventurer, but Beastmen would not be happy if I targeted their prey," Ulrico mumbled as he vanished from his position.
---------------------
'I should reach the tomb location in one more hour.' Alex thought as he drank a stamina potion while sprinting.
'I haven't encountered any high-Ranking beast till this point, which is unusual, but who cares? Maybe even the world wants me to quickly get the darkness legacy.' Alex thought with a smile.
'Lady Nachtor, There are two early sixth Rank beasts ready to battle to the death for a natural treasure, and if he keeps going in this direction, he will reach their location in a short time.' A Beastmen said.
'It would be easy to remove those two beasts before he reaches that location, but killing two early sixth Rank creatures in a short time would be unnecessarily troublesome.'
'I believe he would change his route after seeing those two beasts, and if he did get in trouble, we could save him.' Nachtor replied.
'Okrosh, you scouted the area, so did you find any unique location which could be his destination.' Nachtor asked the Beastmen.
'I believe his destination is the [ Death Miasma Field ] because it is the closest unique location in this direction.' Okrosh replied.
'He did buy a few Intangibility potions which could help him explore the [ Death Miasma Field ] safely, and if he is going there, then his purpose is clear.' Nachtor said.
'It is clear he wants to test his luck by trying to acquire the Darkness Legacy, and other than disappointment, he won't get anything from the tomb of darkness.' Okrosh said, looking toward Alex's location.
'I would also agree if he hadn't shown us so many shocking things in just these few short days.' Nachtor said with a smile
