Chapter 87 Shelmoure Fortress
'I should reward Bion with some chimera meat for saving me so much time before I stand in line.' Alex thought, seeing the long line in front of the fortress.
Alex needed to wait in line even with his Noble authority because Shelmoure fortress was one of the few places where everyone was required to follow the rules regardless of their strength or authority level.
"Bion, the journey was quite comfortable, and as you have saved me so much time, let me treat you to some delicious meat as a gift," Alex said as he took out a few hundred pounds of chimera meat from his inventory.
Bion didn't even look toward Alex after hearing his offer, but the moment chunks of meat dropped on the ground, mana started gathering around the meat, and slowly the pile of meat released a sweet aroma which instantly gained the attention of the proud lion.
"ROAARRRR"
After smelling the meat, Bion loudly roared, which attracted the attention of a few people standing in line, but after a quick look, they stopped looking as most of them were third Rank or above warriors.
'At least he is happy with the chimera meat.' Alex thought, looking at Bion, who was swallowing the meat at a rapid pace.
"Bion, If you want more meat, tell me because I am leaving and won't be back for the next several hours," Alex said.
Roarrr
After getting a quick reaction from the massive lion, Alex took out a few chucks of meat, and then he left the lion alone to stand in the waiting line to enter the fortress.
After waiting in line for close to an hour, Alex entered the fortress's first ring, which was crowded with thousand of players and NPCs.
The Shelmoure Fortress was built in seven circles, with the forbidden land portal dead in the center.
All circular rings were huge, with each ring being more prominent than the precious ring making the complete fortress a colossal structure.
All rings were separated by titanic walls built using the strongest iron and stone, making it impossible for even a Rank Five beast to break the wall defense to run from the fortress.
The Shelmoure fortress was constructed like an unbreakable prison to stop the frequent beast tides from the forbidden land, and the fort worked as intended helping retain hundreds of beast tides.
But now, the beast tides were a thing of the past as, in the last hundred years, not a single beast tide had happened, resulting in the first five rings being transformed into giant trade markets.
The remaining two rings were empty because they were being used for their intended purposes, that being the training and hunting ground for the Sanguine Doom Guards.
'This place is more crowded than some big cities, but it's not a surprise as the forbidden land is a treasure trove filled with dark element-related ingredients.' Alex thought as he walked toward the second ring with quick steps.
'I hope the second and third rings waiting lines are less crowded today.' Alex thought as he walked toward the entry gate of the second ring.
------------
'I think this is my lucky day to reach the third ring in just one hour.' Alex thought with a bright smile as he walked the less crowded streets of the third ring.
'Now that I will reach the real market, should I purchase the Ring right now or buy it after acquiring the legacy?' Alex thought after reaching the entry gate to the fourth ring.
The first four rings of the fortress were all trade markets, but the best stuff acquired from the forbidden land was sold in the fourth ring market, and Alex planned to buy a costly but very useful ring.
'The ring is a legacy item, and it is so ridiculously priced that no one would buy it for the next two years, but the shop is right in my path to the fifth ring entry gate, so buying the ring makes sense.' Alex thought while walking toward the empty gate of the fourth ring.
'In my previous life, it took me two years to gather a thousand gold that I was willing to burn to enter this place.' Alex thought as he placed ten white flame coins on the magic slate near the entry door, and after the coin vanished, the entry door slowly opened.
All entry doors were automatically controlled by magic, and after someone paid the right amount, the door would open and allow him to enter before closing again.
The entry into the Shelmoure fortress first ring was free, but entry into the second ring would cost ten gold coins, while the third ring would cost one hundred, with the entry into the fifth and final ring costing ten thousand gold coins.
After walking for a few minutes, Alex reached his destination, a giant building that looked like a modern world building, as its walls were built entirely using glass.
'I should search this complete market after acquiring the legacy as there should be many legacies and good items just waiting for me to buy them, but for now, let's get the first legacy item.' Alex thought as he entered the building.
The merchant building had eleven floors, and the ring Alex wanted to purchase was on the tenth floor, which was also the last floor anyone could go, so without wasting any time, he took the magic lift and arrived at the tenth floor.
'This floor has so few items, but every item is a rare piece hard to find even in the biggest merchant shops.' Alex thought as he looked at the items displayed on top of the luxury stands while covered by magic glass.
'If these items are not so ridiculously priced, everyone with money would fight to buy them.' Alex thought after checking all the twenty-two items being placed on the display.
'I would have bought this egg within a heartbeat if it belonged to any other variant of the Behemoth.' Alex thought, looking at the two meter giant egg on display in one of the floor corners.
The egg belonged to Mountain Behemoth, and even though it was pure blood Behemoth with the potential to reach peak fourth Rank, its evolution potential was shallow because of its colossal size.
The Mountain Behemoth required more than ten times the evolution resources to have a slight chance to evolve, and Alex didn't love Behemoths that much to waste such a large amount of resources.
"Sir, This Mountain Behemoth egg would be your best purchase." A female voice came while Alex thought of many reasons not to even look at the giant egg.
'Alyssa Megna, A Sixth Rank Sorceress and also the princess of the Human Empire.' Alex thought, looking at the average-looking beauty walking toward him.
'If people knew Alyssa's real identity, they would buy every overpriced just to stand next to her.' Alex knew Alyssa's current appearance was fake as her real beauty rivaled the Royal High Elf.
'I know her identity would be disclosed by one of her fans, but I wonder why she is in the Shelmoure fortress operating the most luxurious shop.' Alex thought, trying to remember some of the theories players had about Alyssa's presence in the Shelmoure fortress.
"This Mountain Behemoth egg is good, but I am more interested in purchasing the unknown legacy Ring, but the price is quite high for an unknown legacy with no known information," Alex said with a smile.
"The unknown legacy Ring is a special item, and I believe the price is very low considering that it's a [SSS] Rank legacy," Alyssa replied.
'If some bargaining could save me money, then it a good thing.' Alex thought after not getting a discounted price.
"I will buy the legacy for One hundred and seventy thousand white Flame coines," Alex replied with a smile.
The Legacy Ring was a [SSS] Rank legacy item, but the conditions to even start the quest to acquire the legacy were unknown, and with no available clues or knowledge, the ring was just a legendary fancy item with only one skill, and even that was useless.
"Sir, The Ring is priced initially at 250K, but I am willing to sell it to you for just 200K," Alyssa replied.
"Thanks for the discount," Alex said as he handed Alyssa a space ring with 200K white flame coins.
"It Was a Pleasure Doing Business with You," Alyssa said as she handed Alex the space ring after taking the coins.
After giving Alex the space ring, Alyssa walked toward the stand with the legacy ring displayed, and then she opened the protective glass case with a bronze key.
Alyssa took the ring and walked toward Alex with a bright smile like a happy owner would after making a big sale.
"My shop sells a variety of things, and if you need anything, please tell me," Alyssa said as she handed Alex an ordinary, looking Black ring.
"I will visit your shop if I require any other items," Alex said as he accepted the ring.
'I wonder what secret dose that immortal adventurer holds to have such strong shadow guardians,' Alyssa thought after Alex entered the magic lift.
