Chapter 38: Not worthy of being a teleporter!!
Chapter 38: Not worthy of being a teleporter!!
Derek stared at the grey room which had lights streaking through the air, he turned to the glass wall and it was the same color, the bright rays of sunlight became dim and greyish.
He came down from the bed and looked at his body, he was wearing a grey sweatshirt and plain grey pants, and there was a pair of grey slippers at the bedside, he wore them and surveyed the room, it was completely void of any decorations, apart from the bed and the Holo monitor there was nothing else.
His palms trembled and two daggers appeared, they gave a soft hum that somehow pacified his racing heart.
His silver eyes reflected from the blade of his dagger, he frowned and paced around the room, after a while he stopped, that weird dream disturbed him as it seemed there was still darkness around him.
As those disturbing voices flashed through his head, the scene of his mother on Earth driving him away flashed, and Derek's mood instantly became worse.
He walks towards the door and when he closed, it opened, he came out to the wide corridor and turned to his right, the corridor was long, normally he wouldn't be able to see the end but now...
His sharp gaze scanned every detail, even tiny spots in the walls were not spared, he felt the elevator would surely be filled and with his current emotions he wanted to be alone, finally, his gaze locked on a plain door, his ears twitched and he smiled, behind that door…
He bolted towards it, WHOOSH!!, teleporting twice he appeared before the door, he nodded in satisfaction, his senses weren't wrong, there was no pressure behind that door, just free untamed air and that means a path, he opens the door a before him was stairs spiraling upwards and downwards, he gazed up and threw his dagger, the dagger spun till it was more than two floors above where he previously stood.
WHOOSH, he suddenly appeared and gripped the railings, his legs dangled mid-air as he stared down, even with his sharp eye he could barely see the ground, falling from here was sure death.
He stared at his daggers which he gripped with one hand, after a while, he released them and they fell, stretching his other arm, he gripped the railings and flipped over, feeling something solid under his foot relieved him.
The two daggers which were close to the ground disappeared and appeared in Derek's palms as he continued to go up, little did he know a man down dropped his cleaning machine and bolted towards the door, his fats jiggled, he couldn't even believe he could run this fast, he had never been in such a deathly situation in his life, not to think about seeing two deadly weapons descending upon him, when they had almost pierced his head they suddenly disappeared, the man finally thanked his stars as he ran out of the building whilst some people calling out to him while others wondered how such a fat man could run that fast.
About his story, Derek would never know as he had finally reached the top, he opened the door and stepped into the rooftop, it was pretty big, and there was even a heliport in the middle, Derek stared at the bright sun and scenes of his mother's abusive words resurfaced, he slowly walked towards the edge, when he reached the edge, his eyes stopped glowing and his sudden deft mastery over his daggers also left though Derek didn't notice.
He finally noticed that his sweatshirt was brown same as his pants, and the slippers were white, he stared down, the height of a fifteen-story building was no joke, fear hadn't even seeped in when he became enthralled by the beauty of the stronghold, endless tall glass buildings littered everywhere, the roads were so meticulously connected that Derek could only feel awe, exotic hover cars moved on the well-made asphalt road with countless pedestrians walking on the sidewalks, the bustling beauty of the stronghold marveled Derek, this was the first time he had seen the real beauty of this stronghold, a subtle smile found its way to his thin lips as the bright golden light illuminated the entire stronghold, it cast a long silhouette of Derek.
Suddenly Derek sighted a woman with her kid, who seemed to be in his teen years, her loving smile as she bought the stuff the kid pointed at sent shockwaves towards Derek's heart, he had no one on earth, and the loving family he finally had was taken from him.
Derek's shoulders trembled and he sat on the edge with his legs hanging freely, he covered his eyes as pain filled his heart, he couldn't believe his mother would hate his dad so much that after his death she transferred her anger to him, she dumped him in a barely surviving orphanage and heartlessly walked away.
"It's been a long time since I saw a teleporter crying like a kid"
A voice rang behind him, it was fully dipped with mockery as Derek could imagine the person's gaze.
"It has nothing to do with you" Derek's deep voice echoed.
He hears a chuckle the man wasn't done "I don't think a crying man has the right to tell me what to do…"
"Weak-minded people like you soil this world, you want the world to suddenly be nice to you, you don't want to feel pain, loss, well guess what kid, it will never be like that, so why don't you go to your mother and stop being a useless disturbing brat"
The air suddenly stilled as the word MOTHER did more than just provoke Derek, it made him furious, his eyes flashed and he stood up.
He slowly turned back and saw a man leaning on the wall close to the door, he wore strange attire, cowboy attire to be exact, his face was covered by his hat and Derek could hear his mocking chuckle.
"What... you're angry kid, kids like you got a lot of loaded temper without the strength to back it up"
The man's words were the last straw as Derek bolted towards him, his eyes flashed with rage and his western dagger instantly left his hand and sped towards the man.
The cowboy raised his head, and the face of a man in his early fifties appeared, his trimmed beard had some white parts which added more charm to it.
His eyes were hidden behind his hat, but Derek's actions were as clear as they were slow to him, he brought his right leg down and flung back his coat, the dagger strapped to his thighs glittered but he didn't draw it.
He removed his hat, removed the invisible dust, and put it back on while Derek's blade was still spinning toward him.
He stretched his body and exhaled "here we go... This won't take long" he muttered nonchalantly as Derek's blade finally reached and Derek appeared, before Derek could react, the hard soles of the cowboy's boot smashed into his chest and he flew back with a faster speed.
While mid-air, Derek flipped and landed, though not steady as he staggered, not leaving such an opportunity, the cowboy hollered "see that! you're a disgrace to the name teleporter"
Derek faced him and yelled, "you should not have mentioned my mother!!".
WHOOSH!, his eastern dagger sped towards the cowboy, but the mysterious cowboy vanished and kicked Derek's dagger, it changed its course and pierced into the ground and Derek appeared while slamming hard against the hard concrete, "ahh!" He groaned.
"Tsk, what a disgrace, you don't know anything about being a teleporter, firstly your throwing skills are horrible, I'll show you what a real teleporter is like.
WHOOSH!.
