Chapter 24: I’ll kiss you. (1)
The black SUV gradually drove into the villa. The headlights shone the road ahead, and it gave off the illusion that it was quite warm outside.
By the time they were almost at Chen Residence, the man in the driver seat looked around. He looked ahead and seriously analyzed the road. He skillfully parked the car in the parking lot. Not long later, after the car came to a steady stop, he took the keys out. The car immediately sunk into darkness except for the street lights ahead gradually penetrating through the windshield, shining on their faces.
When they looked up, they coincidentally saw two stand alone villas with their lights on.
Yan Cheng stopped unbuckling his seat belt, suddenly thinking of something. He slightly narrowed his eyes and carelessly swept his gaze over the person sitting on the passenger seat. He pursed his lips, wanting to say something. He knitted his brows and considered for a few seconds. It must be because he knew that he wouldn’t get an answer so he stopped. Right now, Chen Jinyao’s head was still down. But because she had worn too many clothes, she struggled to unbuckle her seat belt. Her actions were clumsy and she seriously fumbled about for a bit. She rustled around and in the end, she became a bit anxious and worried. Even so, she was unable to remove her seat belt.
Yan Cheng couldn’t bear to watch this anymore. Therefore, he bent over and helped her.
“You’re a bit stupid!” He snorted and couldn’t help but ridicule.
Yet, the moment he said that, Chen Jinyao rudely clutched his neck and said fiercely, “Say it again if you dare.”
“…” He shut his mouth due to his desire to survive.
By the time the couple arrived at Chen Family, it was almost 6:30pm. It was already dark outside and darkness suddenly fell, inked with a sky full of sparkling stars.
After hearing the doorbell, Chen Jinlin came running over to open the door for them.
“Sister, brother-in-law.” She passionately took the things they bought, then she complained, “You guys came too late. I’m already so hungry.”
“It was mainly because we went to buy things after work was over.” Chen Jinyao placed an arm on Yan Cheng as she bent over to change her shoes. She teased, “We’re not late. We came just in time for food.”
At this time, aunty came out of the kitchen and carefully carried a bowl of mutton soup.
The strong fragrance assaulted their nostrils. Chen Jinlin pursed her lips, speechless.
The two sisters had a pretty good relationship. They’d occasionally tease each other, but then they’d forget about it the second after. When they were young, they were allies. Up until now, since her sister wasn’t being nice to her, she didn’t need to return the favor. She slowly moved over and smiled, saying in her ears, “You guys really came back just because you were told to? Hm, well, mourn for yourselves later.”
The words were vague. Chen Jinyao narrowed her eyes, confused.
The living room was bright and the TV was on, bustling and lively with noises.
By the time Chen Jinlin placed the items the couple brought on the coffee table, Father Chen glanced at them before passionately having them take their seats. “You guys are just coming home to eat. There’s no need to buy anything. Come, come. Let’s eat quickly.”
“Yan Cheng, the two of us really need to drink for a bit.” Father Chen called out for him familiarly, immediately pulling the distance between him and Yan Cheng closer. He didn’t act unfamiliarly with his son-in-law at all.
Since his father-in-law already offered, there was no reason for Yan Cheng not to accept this. Yan Cheng surprisingly acted properly and placed away his haughtiness. “Okay.”
He still acted like a likeable and obedient father-in-law.
Only
The moment he said this, Chen Jinyao expressionlessly harshly kicked him.
He subconsciously hissed in pain and turned around to glare at her.
Chen Jinyao wasn’t outdone by this at all. “How is that good?!”
“…” She has no conscience. I’m just trying to please your father, okay?
Father Chen didn’t really have any hobbies, but he did like to drink.
Because of his body, doctors had advised him to drink less, but he refused to listen. Especially when guests came. He’d find an opportunity to drink with the guests.
This was probably the only time he could reasonably argue to drink.
Chen Jinlin placed the chopsticks on the table and exclaimed, “Father, you best not drink.”
