Chapter 23: Unexpected Visitor at the Clinic (3)
“Like now. I came happily to your clinic…” The man suddenly paused as if to arrange his words. “I have two motives right. To let everyone know that you belong to me and to eat with you in order to improve our relationship.”
The first motive was like a dog peeing in order to claim their territory. The second was because Yan Cheng thought that they must improve their relationship.
“Look. At least, I am actively trying for our marriage.” He said.
Before Chen Jinyao had time to retort, Yan Cheng interrupted him again. He knitted his brows and said to himself, “Since you pushed the door and came in, you haven’t looked at me at all. You’re just being passive and slacking off.”
“…”
It was really simple to shift the blame on her.
Chen Jinyao didn’t think that she wasn’t active or anything. She just wanted to go with the flow. As for Yan Cheng accusing her for not being surprised to see him, she could only blame it on Xiao Liu for telling her in advance. Therefore, as she made her way here, she had already prepared herself mentally. Plus, she disliked people entering her office without permission.
“You’re just like a complaining husband.” Chen Jinyao gave an objective comment.
Yan Cheng paused before he slightly curled his lips up, not denying.
He lazily sighed and started to act like a pervert. “Last night, you were shyly trembling underneath me, yet now you were acting like you’ve never seen me before. This contrast is too big. I can’t accept this, so I obviously am going to complain.”
“…” Hearing this, Chen Jinyao almost choked on air, her face flushed.
What did he mean by trembling and shaking?!
Trembling and shaking my ass!
She placed her teacup down, making a loud noise.
“Let’s go eat.” Her tone was a bit clashed, clearly flying into a rage out of humiliation.
Yan Cheng said, “Don’t be shy.”
In the end, this long talk about improving their relationship had ended poorly. Because of this intervention, everything had gone to waste.
Indeed, they had issues.
The most obviously being that they had no feelings for each other.
A marriage without love was like a cold glass of water.
Although it could relieve thirst, it didn’t have any taste.
It just existed indifferently. It couldn’t even last the night.
This was a hidden issue. From a certain perspective, it was much more dangerous than average love that has died out. The agreements on the contract weren’t invulnerable. It couldn’t be compared to love.
If they didn’t explain it clearly today, he might explode one day in the future.
Even if they pretended like everything was okay, it was not the truth.

They casually found a store.
While they were ravaging food, they didn’t forget to continue the conversation from the clinic. However, it wasn’t about their marriage.
Rather, about the dog peeing to mark its territory.
Yan Cheng exclaimed it properly. He had already taken a stroll around her clinic. “When Er Teahouse opens business again, I’ll take you to see my business.”
“…” Chen Jinyao picked up a napkin and wiped her mouth, lazily looking up. She glanced at him and nodded after a while. After pausing a few seconds, she suddenly laughed and knocked against the table. “Ah, I’m going to be Er Teahouse’s lady boss in the future.”
“Yes, lady boss.”
After half an hour later.
Only
Just as they were talking about their schedule for the afternoon and planning a place to eat for dinner, Chen Jinyao received her mother’s call.
It was clear what they wanted. The parents wanted the couple to return to Chen Family for dinner, wanting them to celebrate New Year in advance. It was unclear what was wrong with the Chen Parents but they actually planned to go on vacation during the Chinese New Year.
Therefore, they planned a family banquet before leaving. They wanted the couple to show up no matter what.
“You’ve notified us too late. You should’ve done so a few days ago at the very least.”
Mother Chen laughed. “We just decided to go on vacation.”
“…” Chen Jinyao was speechless.
She had the speaker on. Yan Cheng was listening to their conversation and he was leaning on the chair, trying his best to hold in his laugh hard.
But who knew that this was actually the “Feast at Hongmen?”
