"Pheww!!" Peri blew out a breath of relief. It was the kentow family taking action, it was Leon and his guard team.

"May we come in, madam?" Leon requested from Peri, to which she nodded in agreement. Then Leon, Arian, Ember and Carlson made their way into the building.

Immediately after Leon and the rest entered the building, all the guards formed a guard perimeter around the building, causing a stir in the marketplace.

The crowd couldn't believe it, these guys were under peri? Even with her bad reputation, she only kept improving her standing.

"Will the common man never get justice?" An old merchant on the streets shook his head and turned to walk away. The rich just keep becoming richer, and they were stagnant, he felt like heaven wasn't just.

But, maybe his mindset was just wrong...perhaps he was too busy blaming heaven for misfortune and was not willing to work hard.

These kinds of people, Leon hated them the most. They would pray for the downfall of others just from pure jealously, Leon wouldn't have a problem if they just wanted power….he had killed for far less, but for jealousy?

"This is my good friend Carlson. He will be your head guard for this trip, he's a peak level 1 mage of the Aqua way family" inside Peri's office, Leon introduced her to Carlson.

Leon and the faceless mercenaries were hidden cards, they wouldn't be acting as the escort, that was Carlson's job.

"Aquaway?" Peri froze.

(I've heard that name before....isn't that a noble clan???)

Peri thought to herself. She knew the Aqua way name. This was a Noble family, how did Leon get a noble to be her guard????!!

"Carlson Aquaway" Carlson bowed slightly to peri. The Aquaway way name was well known, they seasoned fighters just like the Dalriss family. Though they weren't as powerful, they were very apt at battle. Having him here on this trip was great.

"Good to have with us" Peri nodded slightly, before turning to Leon's figure.

She didn't understand all this, who was this person? He had a level 3 mage following him around, now he was able to turn an Aquaway noble to become her guard….did he want something from her apart from the reward?

"Lets talk about our trip…" Leon said with a calm yet resounding voice. It didn't look like this, but the dynamic of this Mission had shifted in a peculiar way.

Leon was supposed to be her guard, her subordinate. But it seemed like he held all the power here. Peri could only nod in agreement.

A few days later

Peri's new carriage which was accompanied by a host of about 8 guards on horse made its way from the east of duan city to the north.

Everywhere they went, people looked back and wondered. Though it wasn't uncommon, the type of scene in duan city, but a lot of people were still bewildered.

"We're almost there"

Right beside Leon, Peri's voice sounded. They were currently on a lonely, dark road in an estate of some sorts. It had luxury buildings and gates made by the finest craftsmen.

"Carlson" Leon stretched his hand out the window of the carriage and called out. Then, Carlson rode towards the window, matching the speed of the carriage.

"Spear head" Leon directed while staring into the darkness in front.

"Hm!!" Carlson nodded and not long after, all the guards formed together and created a spearhead formation, with Carlson at the lead.

At an inconspicuous not too far way, two guards could be observed, standing guard.

"Do you hear something?" One of the guards asked.

"I think so…." The other replied while staring into the darkness, it was subtle at first, but it kept getting louder with each passing minute.

He couldn't help but look curiously at the direction the sound was emanating from.

"Shit!!! Attack!!" Not even a second later, the silhouette of horse riders in a spearhead formation came into view, and they were riding toward them at full speed.

This was an attack.

"Quickly, tell the captain, I'll hold them off as long as I can" one of the gate guards urged. He was the superior here, he had to defend, but he also had to send for reinforcements fast…

This was definitely an attack, if not, why would they use a spearhead formation?

"Neighhh!!!" Soon, Carlson and his men advanced on the gate. Their speed and furiously left the gate guard completely shook.

For a brief moment, it felt like his life was about to flash before his eyes. If those horses just trampled on him, he'd be dead before he even knew it. But that didn't happen. Because all of a sudden, the horses stopped advancing upon reaching the gate.

"They….stopped?" The gate guard muttered, he nearly wet himself just now. He didn't want to die, not at all. So seeing them stop made him sigh in relief. They didn't kill him. He was still alive.

Inside the carriage, Leon smiled. These were scare tactics. He actually expected a large host of guards outside the gate, but only two were posted.

Soon, the captain of the kentow family guard rushed out of the gate and formed a perimeter around the gate.

Since Carlson was already in ah attack formation, it would be stupid for them to try to surround them. It was best to maintain a defensive approach.

"State your business!!!" The captain of the kentow family guard bellowed. In his eyes was a clear panic. Who were these guys, and what did they want? He was at a loss but at the same time he was angry.

How dare they come to the kentow family household and cause such a scene? Did they think this place was a marketplace or something?

"We are here as guests to the kentow family" Carlson announced.

"Guests? Rubbish!! The kentow family's guests list is carefully vetted by me. If we were expecting guests I would know" The captain said obnoxiously.

"Well, maybe they don't trust you enough to fill you in on the more important guests…." Carlson mocked. He could tell that the captain of the kentow family guard was a cocky person. He liked the status of being the captain, and anything that lowered his standing was viewed with annoyance.

Not knowing about guests? That was embarrassing, and this was before everyone.

"You'll have to hand in your weapons first so we can verify with the main house" the captain said with gritted teeth. He had to at least confirm, he didn't want to anger honorable guests.

"You and what army?" Carlson asked mockingly. This, of course, incensed the captain a lot, but before he could blow his top, the door to the carriage suddenly swung open and a middle-aged lady appeared.

"Open the f*cking gates!!!" The lady berated with an ugly expression on her face. She was extremely pissed off.

Immediately they saw her, the captain was shocked. It was miss Peri. Did he just hold back miss peri from entering the household?

The family head had requested several meetings with her but was turned down. Who knew that on a random night like this, she would just appear?

"Open the gates" the captain muttered.

"Huh?" The guard beside him looked confused. Were they going to let intruders through the gates? What was their job then?

"I said open the freaking gates!!" The captain barked at his men. He didn't want to know their opinions.

"Clang!!"

The gate was swiftly opened and the carriage and guards were allowed in.

On the outside, the kentow family's household looked just like a mirror copy of the households in the area. But it wasn't until entering, one would see the truth.

This mansion actually consumed a large area of space.

The sound of horse hooves coming to a slow stop in front of the main house soon resounded.

The door to the carriage opened up, the first person to get down was Leon, followed by Arian, then Ember, all of which had faceless masks on.

"Mercenaries" the captain of the kentow family guard mused. It seemed like Peri had gotten herself some extra protection.

After Leon's team stepped down, Peri followed. As soon as she stepped foot on the ground, she slowly looked around the mansion and shook her head. This place was once her 'home'.

"The family head will see you now" the captain said to peri while maintaining a cautious expression on his face. Clearly, Peri had come here prepared for a fight.

Their plans would be difficult to achieve.

"Yes, yes" Peri sighed before proceeding to walk up the stairs that led to the mansion. She took a deep breath of air and pushed the door open.

"Carlson stay close, the rest can camp outside" Leon gave a command and proceeded to walk forward with Arian and Ember following closely behind.
