Chapter 929 On a heavy night
[Eon's POV: ]
"The Empire is relatively safer for some reason."
"It does not mean that they are safe. The fact that the stronger ones are there makes things just as difficult."
The demonic cultists were present throughout the world, but they were mostly saturated in places that were more of a political power and important junctions rather than highly functional cities like the capital of most of the states.
They were present on the island of magic's wealth as well. But there were not many.
From what we had observed, it seems like they had started their operations at least four to five centuries ago. And though it isn't that long of a time from the perspective of those who have lived long lives, this was enough time for many of the great changes to take place within this world.
They were present in practically every state, even the underwater kingdoms, the hidden civilizations that not many people knew about, and to make things worse, they were most probably present in the forbidden areas of the world as well.
"True… well, I don't think we can do much about this anyway."
The second day of our presentation had ended and unlike yesterday, we were going to resume in nine hours.
There were a lot of things that the people had learned from our conference.
'They knew about the strength of those beings, the kind of network they had, the way they operated, as well as how they were highly focused on just the goal that they had received at the time of their 'creation'.'
The evil were present even closer to them than they had expected.
And now that they knew about it, they needed some time to think over this concerning situation.
"What are we doing then? I'm not that sleepy yet."
They were not bothering us today since all of them were busy thinking about their own things.
A lot of presentations were still left. They still did not know everything there was to know about them.
Thinking back, they were also quite serious when we ended the presentation earlier.
They were like completely different people from the ones who had almost harassed us last night.
They were nowhere to be seen. They were perhaps chatting with their own close subjects, and some who were alone must be doing various things to calm themselves down.
The overwhelming amount of information that we had presented before them all in various research topics was a little too much for many of them.
Some of them could not handle a lot of information like me or the smarter people here, so their response to the fast paced information dump in those last few minutes was a little too much.
'We gave them the headbands that had temporary access to all that information so that they could review it by themselves as well.
And, since as the rulers, they knew their states better, chances were that we might be misunderstanding some of the things.
The demonic cultists, the demonic human, and the other forces that almost seem like them on the surface are distinct from one another, but there was still an error margin.
We could very well be wrong, so we will know if we have made any mistakes after tonight.
"Haaa… should we just go to sleep then."
"I don't really feel like sleeping, Rein."
After we finished the presentation this time, the atmosphere of the entire conference became too serious.
The people started thinking what they needed to do to overcome this problem, contemplating, making plans to deal with these evil people.
They were now on the path to wipe these people out, and when I tell them they should not do that tomorrow… or the day after that, I know how they will react.
They were leaders, they were powerful figures, taking the people that do not know their role in this, the rest of them would almost leash out to me.
If they overreact and if I miss any chance, they will bear a grudge towards me later on even after understanding my suggestions.
'I want to save everyone, decrease the damages as much as possible but, it will not be easy with the commotion that will be born after they hear how I wanted them to do nothing for the time being.'
We knew where they were, we knew what they were doing, we even knew how strong they were so they would most certainly find my suggestion to do nothing absurd.
But if we wanted to deal with these evil cultists in true meaning, we needed to do at least that much.
"Let's just sit here for a little longer."
The kind of pressure they were under was great, no doubt there. But the kind of pressure that I was under as the one presenting these things was completely different.
Even Rein, who could see how complicated this was for me, could do little about it.
'Even she couldn't help me with this one since this is a matter of convincing the world leaders who either mostly want to save themselves from destruction, or were looking after the safety of their people.'
Some of them were still in shock after knowing how some of the closest people to them were in fact higher ups of this cult.
'They could not do anything foolish since there was no way to contact the outside world from here, but we don't know what they will do when they go back.'
I will indirectly be responsible for everything that happens to them because of my presentation.
Even if I am not to blame, I don't want people to ruin what I have prepared, and built with so much effort.
There was a great lot still left, and if they start ruining things from the very delicate initial stages, things will become complicated for me going forward. And I do not want that to happen.
That was not something that I will let them ruin… at least I do not want to, but then again, I/ do not have that much authority to force all of them to follow what I will suggest.
I can only suggest things.
I am not someone that is sitting with them like the headmaster or mom, or even our mentors.
We are simply presenters here, and not the spectators.
We might be here because we desire to be here but we do not most certainly have the kind of authority like the rest of them.
Yes we have skills, powers, and strength and also knowledge, resources and technology, but if we want to force them, we will need power. Absolute power, or the world bestowed authority.
And we do not have that.
They still are the highest peaks of their own nations so if they do think that what I was doing was wrong, what I suggest does not mean anything, then there is little that I can do about it.
They are the rulers, there are tyrants that do not listen to anyone but themselves, I don't even know how the Rakshasas will react after this and there will merely be chaos if all the forces start arguing with one another while the presentation is still ongoing.
This was the best thing that we could have come up with, but the presentation and the enforcement of the suggested things was a complete matter altogether.
"You worry too much, you know?" Find more to read on empire
"Hmm?"
We were sitting outside in the garden, looking up at the fake night sky above us.
The atmosphere around us was as fresh as it could be, but since it was not something that was 'real' we did not really like it that much.
Actually, I didn't really like this garden at all.
But it was pretty, that much was pretty true.
"What are you two doing outside?"
It has been four days since the grand conference started, and we are now on the verge of reaching the most critical stage of it.
When I tell them how the evil cult was affecting the people around the world, the cultures, the societies, what their impact was, and how they were absolutely terrifying, they will understand why they have to make their top priorities.
They are beings that will destroy this world and then one day destroy all that exists here.
They had that kind of power, and they had people with the kind of wisdom that was needed to completely execute those plans.
The next stage was going to be crucial, so I was anxious about how things would go and was outside for some fresh air.
This garden was not the best thing in this closed environment, but this was still the best place to spend some time clearing up my mind.
"Just chilling… having some fresh air."
We did not expect the headmaster to be here, we did not even expect to see someone here in the first place.
"What are you doing here though?"
Just like the rest of us, he was also under a great pressure.
If I was the one that was presenting all of this, as someone holding some of the core positions of this world, he was someone that will have some of the most responsibilities when the enforcement of the plans arrive.
He was under pressure and it was reflected on his tired face.
"I'm also here for some fresh air."
This heavy night… things had fallen silent in those lobbies, but at least, even though artificial, at least there were some sounds present in this garden.
This was the only place that allowed me to breathe freely right now, but it wasn't as effective as I needed it to be.
"You know what?"
"Hmm?"
The headmaster had only been present in the conference hall after we came to this place. So, our promise from the first day was still pending.
"Let's go outside."
I did not think he would suggest this when things were like this.
But perhaps…
'Was he aiming for this moment from the start?'
He was the headmaster, so I wouldn't be surprised if he knew what would happen during our presentation.
As well as what things we would face during it…
"Haaaa."
But I needed this right now.
Perhaps, more than ever, I needed some actual fresh air even if it was saturated with scorching hot blaze that could burn and destroy me from inside out.
