Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 904: Gullible excitement

[Nolan's POV: ]

"Are they here yet?" peeking through her window, she whispered in a low voice, trying to hide herself as if someone out there would see her.

"No darling."

The day outside was bright, the flowers were blooming brighter than usual today. My children were coming back, and in anticipation of their wait, my little youngest angel was waiting for her elder brothers and sisters.

"Hmmm…"

Along with her, her elder friend, my beloved husband's familiar as well as the one who loved him dearly, her friend Taika was also hiding behind the window, peeking alongside her in anticipation.

{ "They won't be late, will they?" }

Accompanying them was the little round golden furball, the mother of many other furballs that were waiting for my other children outside in the garden: Mave.

"I don't think they said anything about being late, so I think they should be here any moment now."

The children had successfully completed their first tests in the academy, one of the most difficult ones they would face in their life in the academy, and were now on their way back home.

All of them were coming back, including my bright sunshine, my cute little baby boy.

And his beloved little sister, the warmth of my blood, my little baby was waiting for him, fully prepared to surprise her big brother.

"Are they here yet?" Anna whispered again, and peeked through the window, but just like me, she also only saw her aunts who were having their tea in the garden, along with the young furballs that were playing with Knight captain Sir Mel, and his master, my child-like father.

"Relax, little one. Didn't I say I would tell you as soon as the portal activates?"

"Anna is just being a little more careful, mommy."

She was still whispering even though there were only the four of us here… well five including grandpa Zhen but he was also around so, just the four of us.

"Besides…"

I didn't understand her logic behind whispering like that, but it sure was adorable.

"You know how big brother is, right? He might surprise me again if I don't do this."

According to her logic, since Eon had succeeded in surprising her every time he came back, he was going to do that again.

Which, she did not want this time– courtesy of her new learnings.

'She had been doing physical training since a while back and, according to what father told me, she was a little more talented than we had expected.'

She 'perceived' Aura even though she did not even understand what Aura actually was. She was a unique person already and her special eyes allowed her to see the true emotions and intentions of every being but, being able to perceive a power that even the older knights could only perceive after long years of training and enlightenment.

'Unlike Mana that was present everywhere in nature and could be perceived by everyone that possessed any kind of affinity for Mana or an energy core, Aura was a kind of power that few in the world could perceive if it was not manifested into its ethereal form.

'On top of that, Anna perceiving father's Aura, the perfect Aura of a Knight King, was something that shocked not just us, but also her elder brother who never talks with her on call.'

In the academy, he was not Axion Heliox Kromet but someone else, but that did not mean he was actually a different person. His wish to not talk with his own little sister that longed to chat with him was just too complicated for me to understand as their mother.

'However… as a guardian that also loved both these little children, I could guess how much they loved one another and how deep their longing for one another was.'

It was just too innocent, and too pure.

Something perhaps someone like me might never understand completely.

"Are they here yet?"

"Nah-hun. Doesn't seem like it. Oh wait."

"Hun! Are they here?!"

She was still whispering, just loudly. Little cute one.

"No no. I was just looking at how mister Lizard walked away after saying something to Sir Mel."

"Mommm… I thought they are here!"

She was being quiet for no reason. It wasn't like something would happen even if she wasn't being so quiet.

"Don't play pranks like that, Nol. This is not funny."

"Of course of course, My Lady."

So, to not get surprised by her big brother this time, she, along with her Taika, had prepared all night for this morning.

'And when I say they had prepared all night… I do mean it.'

Both girls did not sleep all night and were doing all kinds of things all around the house.

They had made preparations for all kinds of things that Eon might do to get here and surprise her in some way.

'It was as if they were paring for some kind of ambush.'

They thought about it and took suggestions from everyone else, and then they laid out traps, set up countermeasures, and even did some strange things that they had kept secret from everyone else.

Even I, who had been there when they did all those things, did not know what exactly they even did or what was even the meaning of those things.

'But it sure was cute to watch them~.'

Even though this Tiger lady of ours was older, smarter, and sharper. She was still just like Anna when she was playing with her.

The human lives were still new to her but she was mature enough to not get affected by little things and smart enough to guide her way through these silly things.

But instead of being the mature person that needed to act like our Zoe, she was always like her playmate. Someone that played alongside her with everything that she wanted or everything that she wished for.

'A gullible little child and her smart but funny little friend.'

Mave and I accompanied them throughout their great endeavours yesterday, and only after a few hours of sleep, we were back to almost the same thing that we had been doing last night.

Just that instead of setting up the traps, we were now waiting for the enemy ambush.

"Are they here yet?"

Though I did not know how many times she had asked me the same question already while looking out of the window herself, the question still seemed as adorable as it did the first time she asked me in that low, whispering voice.

"Oh."

And this time, I did not have the same negative answers I had been giving them all this time.

"Looks like they are finally here."

In the garden right outside the window that we were peeking out of, the Warp portal was present.

Mages were already ready to receive the guests, and my sisters, the mothers of my other children, were also outside.

'Father and mother were outside as well, and the little furballs, along with the knight captain, were out in the garden.'

We all had been waiting for their arrival for a while now, and now that we were seeing the lights around the portal turning up, we finally stood up from our places and got ready to greet our amazing little ones.

"Get ready Anna. He might be here any moment now."

"Yes~!"

"Who might be here any moment now?"

"..."

"Hun?"

"...?!"

The lights of the portals had just turned up and the portal had not even opened yet. So then…

"Eon?"

"B-b-big… big brother?!"

"How did you… since when… what?"

We did not notice him, we did not even feel when he got here, and we were completely shocked by how he spoke up right when the portal was turning up.

I was surprised… like, even I could not sense him this time despite the thing that I had.

It was… it was as if he had suddenly gotten much, much, much better with hiding his presence.

It was practically undetectable now!

"Hehe, how have you been, little love?"

He shocked us. He certainly shocked all of us.

And, when I looked back outside the window, the portal that should have been activated by now, was not turning on anymore.

Instead, all the children were back and somehow, everyone else was greeting them.

"Was it Celes…?"

She knew how they could create illusions more powerful than real things. So, at least the fact that he tricked them somehow was not that unbelievable.

"Big brotherrrrrrrrrr!"

But, it did not matter anymore.

"How can you do this?! Where did you even come from!"

It did not seem like he knew about her counterattack strategies or anything about the things that she had prepared for his surprise this time.

But, since it had become a tradition between them already, he must have already planned this out before he came back.

"Haha, you wanna know?"

He was hugging her, and she was hugging him back even though complaints were coming out of her little mouth.

"You are a baddddd person!"

She was calling him bad, and yet there was only joy visible on her face.

"I missed you as well, Anna."

His own mom was standing right here, and yet he was happily hugging his little sister first.

"Haaa…"

Both of them were quite something, alright?

And both of them were my little babies.

'I never wanted it, but both turned out to be a little special. And they were still children as well.'

They were still going to grow up, do even more amazing things, perhaps become even more important people than me, and even bigger things than what I have accomplished.

'It's certain that they will do something great…'

And though they don't give me as much attention as they should as their mother, I will continue supporting them however I can.

'Perhaps, that's all that I can do as a helpless mother anyway.'
