Chapter 14: A Throne?
Chapter 14: A Throne?
As Kaden followed Darius into the void nothing really changed. It was a void after all. The only way Kaden knew he was making any progress and following Darius was by the distance between the two as they walked. Kaden would stop for a moment and it seemed like Darius got further away and if Kaden hastened his steps then he got even closer to the walking figure of Darius.
After a while of walking something that Kaden didn't expect came into view. A throne larger than he had ever seen was slowly becoming visible. The throne had more than 8 steps up into the void before there was the seat which was split in half with 2 different colors on side being completely black and dark almost the color of the void and the other side was a bright white similar to the energy Darius used moments ago.
The most surprising thing of all was that there were other living beings to the sides of the throne or at least mostly living beings. People were seated at tables that were seemingly put all over the place. There were men, women, skeletons, souls, and even some beast that Kaden recognized from the news. The room was almost like if someone were to play a sand box game and scattered people all over the place and giving them random seats beside a throne.
'What a strange place.' Kaden thought to himself still taking in the bizarreness of the place.
Darius completely ignored Kaden's thoughts as he continued walking forward closer towards the throne ahead. Once he was within sight of the other creatures at the tables the chattering between them all stopped as a few pointing out Darius's approaching figure.
Kaden was not close enough to hear what the creatures were talking about but suddenly they all started lining up the sides of the throne making a straight path for Darius and even bowing in a respectful manner. Another human woman went behind the throne and came back with a carpet that she unraveled in between the people and stopped right before Darius's incoming foot which then stepped on it and continued moving forward.
'Who is this guy?!' Kaden thought to himself even more confused than he already was, once again stopping but this time right before he began walking on the carpet.
"Get out of your head kid, keep walking." Darius said to Kaden without turning around and reaching the first step up towards the throne.
Kaden heeded his words and ran to catch up to Darius passing lots of the creatures that were looking at him strangely. He had no idea what they were thinking but decided not to dwell on it as Darius said. Once Kaden reached the first step of the throne Darius had sat down and was currently looking down at him.
Meeting Darius's eye himself Kaden realized how well the throne matched him. On the human side of his body is where the white light was present on the throne and on the skeletal side of his body is where the void-colored part of the throne was giving it a very powerful look.
"It's pretty nice right?" Darius said chuckling to himself as he read Kaden's thoughts.
"Yes this is amazing!" Kaden said in awe nodding his head.
"I know right! This throne right here has been mine for a very long time kid. A very very long time. It looks amazing when you just look at it like this but what it cost to get this little seat right here was more than you can ever know." Darius said chuckling slightly with nostalgia in his one eye before it was quickly removed.
"Anyway, since you like this throne so much how about getting one yourself?" Darius asked curiously to see his response.
Kaden thought for a moment on his question and while he was doing that many of the creatures and humans were also now looking at Kaden curiously wondering what his answer would be.
"Yeah. I want to get one-" Kaden said bluntly causing everyone to be surprised.
"Wel-" Darius was about to continue with what he was going to say but Kaden interrupted him.
"but I won't do anything I don't want to do. For example, betraying someone for no reason or going against my thought process." Kaden said finishing his sentence.
Many of the humans around the room gasped as Kaden interrupted Darius and even some of the beast began to sweat and back away a little but the man in question just began smiling after he heard the second part of his desire, "I like the way you think kid! You better stick to that because I wish someone told me that when I first got my class." Darius said laughing some more causing all of the others in the room to feel a little more at ease besides Kaden who really didn't care about them, so he had no idea about what they had been doing.
Darius then threw his hands up summoning both energies on his hands once again but this time he took the two orbs and pushed them together inside his hands packing them in together like a snowball which slowly began to change the color of the energy into a dark grey that looked quite interesting to Kaden.
"Now kid, I believe this is yours." Darius said shooting the orb towards Kaden.
The orb moved quickly, so fast in fact Kaden could barely even see the blur of it until it hit him straight in the middle of his chest. Causing him to slightly stumble and feel nauseous.
"What was that-" Kaden said slightly confused before the nauseousness became even stronger making him fall over this time trying to hold on from passing out. Kaden looked up to see Darius walking down towards him.
"That right there kid is your class fusing with you. You could say yours is a little more special than the rest but don't let that get to your head. Until next time kid!" Darius said with a grin plastered on his half skeletal half human face as Kaden finally lost consciousness still with almost no questions answered but many more now being formed.
