Chapter 92: One in the same

erlin placed her hand on the barrier, her eyes closed as she began to read the energy radiating from it.

She felt a huge force of power push from within the barrier, sending surges of small electricity through her body.

With a small pull, Merlin stepped back, a single sweat at the side of her face as she stared at the barrier for a while.

"So? Can we break it?" Asked Dame Gwen, who was standing behind Merlin along with several other knights.

Since the recent attacks caused by Scorpion and his members, the knights and guards have worked tirelessly to make sure the civilians were kept in a safe place, while simultaneously sending a search team to look for the Red Wings since there was no way they could have escaped the capital already.

On the other hand, Merlin and some mages were trying to see if they could break the barrier, trapping them in the main capital so they could tell what was going on in the outside world.

"They must be using some kind of artifact to power it, the hardness of the barrier is adjusting depending on the person trying to break it. It's … going to be difficult." Merlin replied with a sad look on her face.

The frustration of the knights grew– they had allowed these groups of people to treat them like pawns in their own city.

Artoria suddenly showed up.

"What is the update on the criminals whereabouts?" She asked, sitting majestically on her horse, her eyes swollen and a bit red.

She had been in the dragon's cave with Drake when the attack happened, hence she heard nothing until she stepped out.

"Her highness!"

They all bowed their heads.

"Artoria." Merlin seemed relieved at first, but then, she looked to the side, barely able to look her in the eye.

"We haven't heard from the search team we sent, but I'm sure we'll get their location soon." One of the knights responded.

Artoria leaped down from her house, standing in front of Merlin.

"Can you shatter the barrier?" She asked.

"Even with enough time, I should be able to come up with a spell that can do just that." Merlin replied half heartedly.

"Good." Artoria clenched her fist, "I'll find the criminals myself".

….

Meanwhile…

Ha Joon was resting his back on the wall of his cell, his phone in his hand, still studying through files.

[All members have been scattered across the city as you have requested.]

'Hmm, ohhh that's good.'

[The soul plates are currently running on a 100% magical output. Would you like me to reduce it?]

'Yeah, bring it down to about 60%, not a lot of people have died yet.'

[UNDERSTOOD.]

BAAM-!

Someone landed on Ha Joon's cell.

"My love. Are you awake? I bring news!" Sinex's voice echoed.

"How do you keep getting past the guards?!" Ha Joon shouted.

"I am an assassin class you know– anyway, The Red wings are in Camelot, and they've launched their attacks. The whole place is in total chaos!"

"So I hear,"

"They killed plenty of the guards and officers in command, I don't know how they were able to get vital information, but if they know about that, it means there's a good chance they know you're here, so I'll get you out."

"Master, are you okay?" Yukio chimed in, her voice hitched with worry, "Once Sinex breaks you out of this prison, I know a place I can hide you, at least until the war is over."

Ha Joon was quiet for a while, but after some seconds, he finally spoke, "Hai Hai, do you want".

"Yipeee! I'll break you free now." Sinex sang.

Still seated on the ground, Ha Joon looked to his front -

'I admit, there are plenty other ways I could have gone about this… plenty other paths I could have taken, but yet—'

'I chose the one with the most benefits for me.' Scorpion completed, seated on a small rock where he could get a good view of Camelot.

He stretched his hand forward, 'Am I selfish? Or perhaps I'm just ill bent on being Camelot's savior. At the end it all boils down to one question, how far was I willing to go to help these people?

It goes without saying how selfish and ignorant they are, being one of the strongest counties in Tervet, they have grown arrogant of their own strength, the people know nothing of the wars fought, so they pour all their respect to the random knights helping them catch thieves, or find their stolen cat.'

He paused.

'No, it's not as honorable as that. I needed them to be in control if we were ever going to win this battle. Not a single one out of line…and that is why…'

Scorpion placed his hand over his face, and immediately, his features became that of Ha Joon's. The same black hair, same red eyes, same lips– it was Ha Joon.

'That is why I was willing to go through all this, just to make them do one thing and one thing only— view me… as their god.'

From nowhere, 002 and Zex landed behind him.

His face immediately changed back to Scorpion.

"The knights have begun to patrol the area, looking for us. More soldiers are trying to make their way in from the outside." Zex reported.

"And we also got a message from Mother… she will be coming once we have claimed the main capital." 002 added.

"Will she now?" Scorpion smiled before standing to his feet, red energy oozing from his body, "Good, perfect. We'll proceed as planned, split up into five groups and take out the capital from all sides, they don't have that many soldiers. In other words, Camelot is doomed to fall, they never stood any chance".

002 looked up at Scorpion for a while, "And are you sure about our strength against thr roundtable knights? Not all of us had the sudden increase in magical strength like you did".

Scorpion grinned, "That's where you're wrong… I already gave you all the boost you needed."
