I have Nine Lives

Chapter 156: Assimilating rare races (1)

Chapter 156: Assimilating rare races (1)

Willie's transformation looked to be beginning, and from what Felix could sense, it would be a rather flashy transformation.

That meant all of his prey would be alerted by him and two things could happen in this situation:

A. They would all run away from this direction. Making things harder for Felix.

B. They would all run in this direction to devour Willie and gain his ability.

From what could be seen. Willie's evolution to get a fleshly body looked to be rather impressive.

Not visuals alone, the things that went around Willie as he spun his cocoon around him were very interesting to Felix. They were new appliances of energy that he never thought about mostly because his ability evolved his body for him automatically.

If he would have gone through a similar process, he would have learned them by himself, but all he needed to do was absorb the DNA of the target in moderate quantities and wait before his body would evolve by itself.

Felix could sense that the people on the planet were wary of the new energy readings, they were all hiding around in different spots on the planet, and some energy readings even disappeared as Willie's energy appeared.

Some of them were scared of the new energy that released itself so blatantly. But some others were interested in the energy.

Willie's energy was very appetizing as he was a nature spirit and someone who absorbed quite a lot of 'natural energy' from Felix. Felix's natural energy was very pure and highly concentrated, so Willie was like a fattened pig right now.

He was a tantalizing morsel for those around, and it was a dumb thing to think that the planet was filled with only helpless aliens like the two that Felix first ate.

While Vangar said that Felix's missions wouldn't consider combat anymore, things would be too easy if they served him the things that he needed directly, or else he would have just given Felix the corpses of those races already instead of sending him to this planet.

Felix knew what they wanted from him, fight the captives on the planets and assimilate their fighting knowledge along with their genes!

Every race had their own way of fighting, and if Felix could combine their fighting knowledge with their genes, he would become way stronger, only assimilating the DNA without knowing how to control the new organs or special abilities that he would get would lower his peak combat potential.

Willie's situation put Felix in an awkward place, but he hoped that he would actually attract some of the beings on the planet so he would be able to catch them easily.

So he could both protect him and do the mission.

Felix sat on the ground near Willie as the armor gathered energy in the Rubix cubes on his back for any future space traveling. Now that he was on a planet, he could use the hex energy in the surroundings just like he did on his home planet.

Felix meditated with his eyes closed as the fluctuations of energy near him kept him company, Willie's transformation was both methodical and thorough at the same time. Felix could understand a lot of new things about the energy and fleshly body transformation from the way Willie was transforming in his cocoon.

As Willie was an energy being, the transition between energy and flesh was very educational for those that sensed from nearby.

Suddenly Felix opened his eyes as he glanced around, he sensed something approaching him and Willie, but as he looked in his surroundings, he realized that there was nothing.

"Very strange..."

Felix muttered lowly as he thought about what could have created such a feeling... then his eyes widened as he jumped a few meters to the side, a gash appearing where he previously stood and purple-green gas slowly floating into the air above it.

This was a very advanced poison and stealth!

The stealth was so good that Felix almost didn't see it coming. Only with his vast experience and knowledge about stealth did he dodge at the last second.

A race that was better at stealth than him? It wasn't surprising considering even Vangar was better at stealth than him, but he didn't think that the human federation left people on Vangar's level on this planet.

Felix jumped back near's Willie's cocoon as he used his armor to parry another attack which left a small gash on his armor.

There were no mocking voices nor were there any conversations. This was an assassin battle, and any extra sounds would give the opponent a great advantage in the fight.

Felix narrowed his eyes before closing them. He activated his killing intent detection to its maximum capacity as he flashed around the cocoon, blocking or defusing any attempts on Willie's life.

His armor was full of gashes that bleed a purple substance which rusted his armor also and made it heavier.

Felix could feel the armor inhibiting his movements as the fighting continued. It was hard for him to identify the location of the stealth attacker, and he finally got a taste of how it was to fight him.

It was quite annoying, there was nothing he could do besides defending, and he would have had an even harder time if his opponent grasped killing intent masking. Of course, the attacks weren't really strong, and all he had to watch out for was the poison, it didn't seem to be a poison that infiltrated the body and destroyed it from the inside, he had great resistance to those types of poisons, but he never saw one that rusted metal.

He wasn't sure what it would do to his body, and he didn't want to find out either.

Felix's aura activated as lightning slowly engulfed him, the enemy had a speed advantage over him, but the moment his lightning armor activated, that advantage became Felix's.

He easily parried all of the attacks as he used the lightning to cleanse the armor from its rust and heaviness.

His eyes darted around as he focused his senses around him instead of watching those distant energies that were watching the current fight.

The more he focused he senses the better they became in a short distance until he could actually sense his opponent darting around like a slippery loach and launching those attacks at him. Even though they had been fighting for hours on end, up till now, both he and Felix didn't seem to get exhausted at all.

Felix couldn't see his appearance clearly, but now that he got his location, he didn't even need to know how he looked.

His power increased suddenly as he used his armor paw to hit an empty location in front of him.

Analyzing his jumping pattern, Felix had predicted where he would jump next and attacked with his full strength there!

His attack connected with a soft furry body as a squeal and the first sound of the fight beside the sound of metal hitting metal was heard.

Felix jumped atop the downed body of the attacker and put his paw directly over the neck of the aggressor.

His claw clenched over his neck as he took a look at his appearance. The aggressor was a small furry being that stood around 30 centimeters tall. His body was practically a dark fluff ball, and two green scared eyes bore into Felix's own.

He looked like a guinea pig that had never been groomed in its life.

Felix glanced into its eyes before the paw tightened over its neck until all life was wrung out of him.

A notification appeared in the armor that said:

[Alus Barolo, one of the races with the best-suited bodies for stealth and infiltration, their natural talents for stealth aren't high, but their physiques make up for it as their bodies make no sound when they move, and their fur is specially grown to reflect the light and darkness in such a way that they meld into the surroundings with ease. Combined with the stealth techniques they learn since young, they become fearsome assassins even if they aren't coming from talented bloodlines.]

Felix's armor made sucking sounds as the DNA from the guinea pig look-alike was absorbed into Felix's body and bloodstream.

Felix could immediately feel something was changing in him as his originally orange fur slowly started to turn dark.

The beans on his paws were the next thing to change as they shrunk in height. But filled his paws more as they become one chunk.

Felix couldn't feel it now, but the people that were originally looking at the fight and sensed him before couldn't do so anymore.

They were all puzzled as they thought that Felix died. And the Alus Bolo warrior won, but Willie's energy was still being exuded, so that wasn't right...

No one knew how Felix looked or what race he was from, so they weren't sure if he was also a stealth expert.

Thus the greedier ones slowly made their way towards Willie's location, hoping that the two fought each other until exhaustion and they would be able to benefit...
