I have Nine Lives

Chapter 121: Hedgehogs fight back (2)

Chapter 121: Hedgehogs fight back (2)

The shaman wore hastily tied armor to his body as it could be seen that it was hanging on his body incorrectly, after the head of the golem opened up the man decided to first talk with Landers and the others trying to make them back off.

He made a small glance towards the leader of the army, the shedding of one's spikes wouldn't hurt if it was done naturally but it was obvious every person who activated a golem had to shed their spikes to create controls for those that controlled the golem from the inside.

This forceful shedding was extremely painful and he wondered how the army leader was still awake after she had done that, he knew why the others had their bodies engulfed in the heads of the golems, they most likely passed out and their subordinates helped them so they wouldn't fall from the top of the golem.

Only hers was opening up as she glared down at the lion army from above, it was obvious she was weakened as she breathed roughly and clutched her chest.

The shaman waved his hand at her then shook his head, she needed rest as she did good enough, now it was the time for the normal troops to shine with the gadgets they had gotten from the human tribe!

"I shall say this only once!"

"Will you leave peacefully or should we throw you out?"

The shaman's voice became imposing as he said those words, a gentle aura engulfed him as he glared down at the invaders that had killed his people and terrorized the civilians, then at the traitors that were currently slowly making their way closer to the wall of spikes.

He detested the snails for not enduring until they finished their plan but he also understood their plight so he decided to leave them be after he got rid of the lions.

He already guessed that they wouldn't back away regardless of how mighty their golems were.

Landers took a few steps backward to see how many golems were in total and as he counted he realized that they were around a few thousands of them.

And all of them had an important figure of the hedgehog tribe on top of them supplying them with hex energy and spikes from their heads, besides the shaman who was directly controlling the golem while someone else must have used their spikes to activate the golem.

Landers wasn't sure how strong these golems were so he thought for a little not even bothering to respond to the shaman's question.

He was already thinking about how to take down the golems, he realized that the weakness was the head but he couldn't fly that high without getting exhausted at least for the taller ones, he would be able to fly to the shorter ones with average energy consumption on his part.

But for the taller ones...

It was unknown what he could do in that situation.

Felix started to move, turning on his stealth as he ran towards the nearest golem, Landers made the troops go back as they wouldn't be useful in this situation unless they would be able to scale to the top of the golems which was unlikely.

Felix agilely started to run onto the spiky leg of one of the shorter golems that stood around 2,30 meters.

Because of his fur's improvement, the spikes didn't have any effect on him as he ran along until he reached the mud part of the golem where he drilled inside the house using his claws, the hedgehogs were doing their best channeling their hex energy into it as they controlled the golem ready to make it pounce towards the Lions down below to crush and skewer them.

While they were so focused on controlling the golem they didn't realize that a small hole the size of a cat appeared at the bottom of it.

Before they could realize what was happening Felix unleashed a tornado of spiked hair started to skewer the hedgehog troops that were controlling the golem.

Blood started to drip down from the house towards the ground through the hole that Felix made as the hedgehogs in the golem died gruesomely.

The golem stopped working as it had no personnel anymore and the person who powered it up who stood at the top in the head realized something was wrong as he just woke up only to find out that the head was crumbling and he was falling!

With a sick 'splurch' the weakened body of one of the top people of the hedgehog tribe hit the ground and died as his neck remained in an awkward angle and his head broken open.

While the head was a weakness if you could get inside the house and kill the controlling people the golem would pretty much become useless.

However, Felix was the only one who could ignore the spikes that were used as arms and legs for the golem.

Even Landers would get pierced by them if he wasn't cautious.

As for the others, there was nothing to talk about.

Seeing that one of their golems was taken care of so subtly and stealthily made the shaman widen his eyes as he gritted his teeth in anger and then waved his hand indicating for the attack to commence!

The golems moved rather quickly if you would take into calculation their weight and height.

They started to move and attack even releasing batches of spikes to impale the Lion on the ground.

Landers frowned as he looked at his troops and told them:

"RETREAT AS FAR AS POSSIBLE, I WILL MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET INJURED."

At this point, the troops became a burden but they would still be useful if they took care of the giant contraptions of the enemies so he had just to keep them safe until he got rid of the golems.

Felix moved to another golem as he created another hole into its back before drilling in.

While Felix was very advantaged in this situation he couldn't get rid of thousands of golems by himself at a quick speed.

While he would be able to escape he couldn't guarantee for the others, he didn't really care about the troops but he had a little place for Lindo and Landers in his heart and since Manitola was so important to Lindo it could be said that he would try to save her as well.

Landers puffed up his aura as he started to fly landing on the heads of the shorter golems and ripping the resting people out of the heads with his bare hands.

Then he watched as the golem ran out of power and their arms and legs started to slowly break and fall.

Landers and Felix weren't the only ones who worked their way up the golems as Lindo and Manitola did as well, somehow Lindo used his advanced killing intent detection to find a way to dodge the spikes by using a minimal amount of force on the soles of his feet making the spikes unable to damage him and combined with his ability to dodge even if the controllers in the golem's belly wanted to make the spikes attack him he still easily dodged them.

Unfortunately, they could only attack 3 Golems at the time and there were thousands in total thus leaving the troops to deal with the others even though they weren't really able to, it was a fact that the power golems was pretty darn high as they were special creations of the human tribe which they sold to the Sparron continent for their defenses, this was only one of the golem's variety that the hedgehog tribe got.

The troops of lions tried their best to dodge the clumsy but fast golems while also trying to trip them using steel ropes and other things which they succeeded with the shorter ones but the taller ones went ahead and stomped on some of them killing them in the process.

Landers was getting angrier and angrier by the second as he dismantled more and more golems but it was inevitable that his troops would die, he wasn't able to be in more than one place at the same time and even though Lindo Felix and Manitola were doing their best to get rid of the other golems they just weren't enough.

Landers' troops started to shorten in number but so did the short golems, leaving behind only those taller standing at the 5 meters and above which counted to around 1,000 or so.

They had killed and destroyed quite a lot of golems as time passed, it took them around 3 days to reach the number of 3,000 golems as things didn't always go smoothly.

Landers' troops were reduced to around 70,000, dead bodies and meat pancakes were strewn around the village ruins and rubble.

Landers clutched his left injured arm as he breathed hard, the 1,000 golems were inactive due to the lack of hex energy both in the bodies of the controlling hedgehogs and in the air.

Felix was supporting Landers while Lindo and Manitola were leaning on each other, most of the surviving troops were injured to the point that they couldn't move anymore but the same could be said about the hedgehogs as well.

It seemed they ended up in a tie?
