I have Nine Lives

Chapter 119: The slug tribe is delicious

Chapter 119: The slug tribe is delicious

The troops quickly planted their feet on the ground as they inserted their hands into the special bag that they tied at their waists before taking out an intricately painted dark armor that they donned on their bodies.

The moment the armor was put on their bodies the ground below slowly started to dent-in due to the increased weight.

The purple gas slowly started to approach them however the moment it made contact with the dark armor it started to sizzle and pop then dissipate by itself.

However, the armor was made only for the torso and it didn't cover the whole body as the dark iron was a rare material, while they could make quite a big number of them with the ore vein that they found under the black bear's cave they couldn't spread the armor to cover the whole body, only some of the more important vitals.

However, it was enough to withstand the poison.

The hedgehog's eyes bulged out seeing how the lion troops were confidently walking towards the poisonous fogs while the snails continued to do their best to excrete as much poison as they could.

With the addition of the armor, the troops could walk forward through the poison but that didn't mean that it was an easy endeavor, the armor was dissipating some of the poison but the snails were also excreting more at high speeds.

At this point, the troops also had to withstand some of the poison with their bodies, some of them were still feeling ok as they continued but others weren't as lucky as their skin slowly started to turn purple and they became paralyzed.

The others who were unaffected tried to help them up only to realize that their comrade's bodies stiffened up as if they were dead!

They knew something wasn't right but somehow even though they stiffened up their vitals still seemed to be working properly, their heart beating normally and their breathing was also normal.

Since their lives weren't in peril they decided to leave them there as they continued to go through the poison.

Landers looked behind and saw his troops diminishing as he frowned and asked Manitola:

"Will they be ok?"

"Don't worry, while acidic the poison can be negated with the armor your soldiers wear, the ones who got paralyzed must have weaker bodies as their anti corps can't handle the poison."

Landers didn't understand what Manitola said besides that his soldier's bodies were weak but he wasn't the one who trained them so he felt a little bit responsible, if he trained them such a situation wouldn't have happened now!

There was no time for regrets now as he ripped off the mangled armor on his body before donning the black iron one.

He charged directly towards the hedgehogs with a mighty war cry that inspired the soldiers, his aura flared to life as he ignored the poisonous gas that was being continuously aimed at him, his body was so strong that the gas had no effect and the acidic portion of it was blocked by the armor.

Felix came from behind as he tried to slap the snails out of the hedgehog's grasps while they were focusing on the lion army and Landers's assault.

Manitola and Lindo were already hard at work as they used their combination to stun and charm the hedgehogs stopping some parts of the encirclement where poison started to disappear.

After creating a breakthrough point the army focused on it as they were encircled, behind them was the spike wall, and around them were the hedgehogs, they were in a disadvantaged position and they needed to take the high ground.

Felix started to assassinate the snail holding hedgehogs that were closer to him as he unleashed a tornado of claws that left dark marks in the air which dissipated after a few seconds.

Those claw marks found their targets as the hedgehog's heads flew into the air with shocked expressions.

Felix wondered what kind of improvements his body would get if he ate some hedgehog but looking at the spikes over the heads made him reconsider eating the head as he approached a downed body instead.

He scarfed it down quickly while the others were focused on the battle, the moment he finished the last bit of meat he felt his body heat up as his fur stood on end and started to harden, he could feel his fur hardening slowly and also sharpening.

It was a strange feeling as if he had gotten a new organ he had never even heard about before.

Felix concentrated and he felt that his fur returned to normal if he wanted it to, it was quite an interesting thing.

Unknowingly to him, he had achieved the most basic bloodline power of the hedgehog tribe.

After experimenting with his new ability for a few seconds he continued his killing and eating, he hadn't reached even the halfway plateau of his new ability and after around 5,000 bodies eaten he felt full and that he had completed the ability as his fur reached the maximum hardness and sharpness.

Using his new ability he started to spin creating a sharp orange tornado that unleashed a massacre as limbs and other body parts started to fly into the air while he was in the middle of the hedgehogs, while their hair would sometimes prevent them from getting killed they would still lose al limb or two.

But Felix wasn't the only one who went on a rampage as Landers fought with all he had as he created great opportunities for the troops to advance and kill their way in, getting in a better position and taking the high ground!

This lead to a total collapse of the hedgehog's formation and their deaths numbered in the tens of thousands while the lions didn't lose any people up till now, while there were victims to paralysis they could be healed with time.

The hedgehogs started to retreat further away from the wall as they realized that the snails weren't useful at all in this situation, they thought that they would be able to weaken their enemies with the poison first before unleashing themselves on them, and easily getting rid of these nuisances that invaded their village but they were wrong!

The little cat and their commander were too fierce! They could soak all of the attention and from time to time some of their troops would lose control of their bodies and automatically start to walk towards Lindo who had Manitola on his back, thus becoming easy targets to be mobbed.

The hedgehogs knew that this plan was a failure as they rolled into balls and threw the snails away, they rolled into their houses as they barricaded there while leaving the 400,000 snails to the mercy of the lions.

Landers stopped the tribe as he looked at the houses of the hedgehogs, they were also made from spikes combined with mud and hardened with fire if he guessed correctly.

The snails tried to run away which was quite funny, looking at their shells trying to move away at 1 meter per hour, the lion tribesmen that were immune to their paralysis started to bang on their shells making the snails retreat into them.

Then the shells were grabbed up as Manitola said:

"They are weak towards salt or they can be boiled in water, even though the shell is strong against blunt attacks, shockwave attacks can go through it and transform their bodies into sludge."

The troops nodded as they looked around for a giant wok that they filled with water before creating a big fire that started to boil the water in the wok.

The snails weren't really useful so Landers decided to kill all of them so they wouldn't be nuisances in the future, while their poison wouldn't work due to the armors, what would have happened if they didn't have them?

Also, it was unknown what was the upper cap potential of the snail's poison.

The shells were being thrown one after another into the wok as the boiling water started to kill the slugs creating hellish screams from the dying beings.

The lions weren't really affected by the screaming but the hedgehogs who were now hiding in their houses couldn't help but feel really bad as they were the ones that abandoned their allies.

The leader of the army looked through the window as she saw what was happening to her allies and frowned heavily.

The snails were indeed useless against these folks but their armors looked to be made from rare materials which indicated that not everyone would have them, thus while useless against the lions they would be useful towards the other invaders.

Losing their whole tribe in this situation would be a great hit to the defending alliance of the Sparron continent as they would lose a living bio-chemical weapon that could continuously regenerate.

The leader of the army was a hedgehog woman with blue spiked hair, she wore an ascot at her neck and a blue military uniform that camouflaged her hair, she was currently in one of the houses that had a clear view of what was happening to the snails and she knew that after they were done with the snails they would be next!

While the houses were made to retaliate with the spikes if they were attacked, they were only made of mud and had low durability thus they wouldn't last much time under the continuous attack of the lions.

However, she knew that the best time to retaliate would be when they would attack the house so she steeled herself and started to whisper amongst the troops that were inside the house with her also sending some messages to the other scattered around the village.

In total, they lost around 50,000 people while the lions had 4,000 paralyzed people, after making the calculations she looked towards the window once more as she concluded the plan to repeal the invaders away from her village and people, they already evacuated the civilians so they could fully go all out now!
