Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Reunion of The Sisters
At 8.00 a.m. the next morning.
It was drizzling outside.
Sikal flipped around in bed with a smile on her face.
A few seconds later, she sat up from the bed.
“Last night…” The scene at the nightclub last night flashed in her mind; she met Kota, and he sent her home, then he and she were on the piano.
“Where is he?” Sikal quickly pulled the blanket over her chest and looked around.
“He has left? When was it? Why did I sleep like a log and not know about it?”
When she thought of what happened last night, Sikal blushed.
Did she regret it?
Not at all. In fact, she even felt reluctant to part with him.
After all, she had finally become a true woman last night. In a sense, even if it was just a one-night stand, Kota was still her first man.
“Strange.” Sikal lay down again.
“I think I heard piano last night, and it seems that it was that piano sound that I could sleep so well.”
For a very long time, sleep was the most dreadful thing for Sikal.
She had never slept as well as last night in the past.
She sat up from the bed again.
She carefully recalled it in her mind, and then gently pressed a few incoherent notes on the piano keys.
She realized that perhaps the piano piece that she heard in her dream could ease her symptoms of being tortured by sleep.
However, no matter how Sikal tried, she could not reconstruct even a tenth of that piece.
“Damn it.”
After a long while, Sikal forced her hands on the piano.
She thought of Kota’s handsome face, hers full of resentment and anger. “He left without leaving a word. Does he really think I am an easy woman?”
Just when Sikal was ashamed and resentful, the phone next to her pillow vibrated.
The moment she picked up the phone, her body stiffened.
“Catherine? Hello, Catherine, are you okay? Ever since I heard you were kidnapped, I’ve been worried about you.” Sikal asked immediately.
“I’m fine. No one kidnapped me. I escaped on my own.” Catherine’s voice came from the other end of the phone.
“Then Sikal, can… can you come and pick me up?”
“Why me?”
“Because you’re my best friend and the only one I trust,” Catherine said.
“Silly, don’t talk about this. Where are you?” Sikal didn’t hesitate at all.
“I will send my location to you. I don’t know the exact place, probably somewhere near Columbia University.”
“Wait for me.”
After hanging up, Sikal immediately found a semi-casual dress in her closet.
It was a suit that she usually wore when she was not working.
It looked casual and made her look like a goddess.
She put on that dress. Just as she grabbed her car keys from the table, she saw the red dress that the man had helped her take off last night.
A scene flashed through her mind.
In the night, she tiptoed over that dress, and then she shook her head and rushed out of the door.
About an hour later, at a convenience store on Victory Ave, New York.
Catherine was wearing a gray shirt and wide-legged pants waiting by the side of the road.
Soon, a white car stopped in front of her.
The window rolled down and Sikal stuck her head out.
“Get in.”
Catherine opened the car door and got in. “Drive to the Metropole Hotel. I’ve booked a room.”
“What’s going on with you?” Sikal asked as she drove.
Thinking back on what happened after she met Kota, Catherine felt it was too unbelievable.
Although she was the one wanting to use Kota to achieve her goal, every move of that man had amazed her, and that man possessed an unexplainable charm.
Catherine briefly told Sikal about what happened.
Sikal’s eyes widened. “Crazy, Catherine, you are really crazy. How could you have such a crazy plan? I can’t believe that you were thinking of taking revenge against the Heavenly Punishment. It’s fine if you were just thinking. But I can’t believe that you had actually done it.”
“No,” Catherine said, “I didn’t drug their heir. He did it himself.”
“Okay, let’s not talk about this first. What’s the name of the man who took you away? What’s his background?” Sikal asked.
“His name is Kota. I know nothing else, but I feel that he’s definitely not such a simple person.” Catherine shook her head. “There’s always an inexplicable confidence in his eyes.”
“He is audacious, but he is very careful.”
“How should I put it?” Catherine frowned. “Mysterious and contradictory, that’s probably how it is.”
“Mysterious and contradictory?” Sikal repeated. She could not imagine what kind of man Catherine had met.
But the man Kota must have some serious tricks up his sleeve to impress Catherine, the granddaughter of the person controlling Ying Corporation.
“Then what’s your next plan?”
Since he couldn’t imagine it, Sikal might as well ask Catherine directly.
“I will go home and expose Coster, and then…” Catherine paused for a while.
She knew that if she told Sikal about her and Kota’s next plan, Sikal would be shocked.
Catherine sat in the passenger seat and hesitated.
Her and Kota’s second plan was to announce in front of everyone that not only could she not marry Heavenly Punishment’s heir, but she also already had a fiancé.
Her real fiancé was Kota, the heir to a big corporation in Washington.
But in this way, the risk was all on Ying and Kota.
Was it all worth it just because she did not want to marry the heir to Heavenly punishment?
Catherine did not know.
