Chapter 144 Waiting For Help
Arlan heard a series of footsteps. He tightened his grip on his sword as patiently waited for the enemies to pass by the pillar.
Soon, he saw several men dressed in army clothes and bulletproof vests running past him. He immediately swung his sword. The veins on his arms protruded as he put his all into his swing.
Shuaa!!
The rebels could only watch in horror as their comrades were sliced in half. After regaining their wits, they aimed their guns towards Arlan and sprayed their bullets in his direction. However, Arlan had already taken cover behind the pillar.
Ratatata!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
'Armor-piercing bullets! No wonder Khalon was injured!' Arlan thought in his heart when he saw the thick pillar being slowly destroyed by the bullets. 'Just who supplied these motherf*ckers with such weapons and ammunition?!'
The rebels fired wildly at the pillar as they walked closer to Arlan.
'Sh*t!' Arlan cursed in his heart when a bullet managed to graze his shoulder. He was already out of options. His Prototype Energy Pistol was out of energy and he gave his pistol to Krizia. The only weapon he had was his sword. The guns of the dead rebels were too far from his reach and he would be turned into a sieve before he could get them.
Just as Arlan thought that he would be killed, he suddenly noticed Terrence sneakily going down the stairs. Khalon who was severely injured was walking behind him while holding his right chest.
Seeing them, Arlan gave a signal to Khalon. It was a signal to fire blindly while taking cover.
Khalon understood the assignment. He hid behind the wall and aimed his weapon in the direction of the rebels. Terrence also followed and fired his pistol while screaming.
The rebels were forced to take cover after the sudden gunshots. Arlan used this opportunity to grab a rifle that had fallen to the ground. He then rolled and aimed towards the rebels as he pulled the trigger.
Ratatatata!
Ratatatata!
Three enemies fell under the intense gunfire, while the other three managed to survive with light to moderate wounds.
After using up his clip, Arlan quickly grabbed a pistol on the floor and pursued the rebels who were trying to escape from the bar. He pulled the trigger while aiming for the furthest person.
Bang! Bang!
A rebel fell on the floor after being shot in the head.
The remaining two managed to retreat to the lobby, but they were still killed by Arlan.
"Quick! Go to the second floor!" Arlan shouted at the hostages. There were still enemies outside the bar so he had to take everyone to safety.
Some people quickly ran towards the second floor after hearing Arlan's words. The others hesitated, but they eventually ran away after seeing that there were no rebels in sight. The civilians thought that Arlan was part of the bar's security team so they unconsciously followed his instructions.
Terrence walked towards him and anxiously said. "Arlan we should leave this place!"
Arlan shook his head. "No! There are still rebels outside. We can only wait for the police to arrive. Let's go to the second floor." He then turned his gaze to Khalon and saw that he was still standing straight despite his serious injuries.
Terrence was scared when he heard that there were still rebels outside. It took a lot of his courage to go down here. He wouldn't even dare do this if Arlan wasn't his friend.
As they headed to the second floor, Arlan communicated with Winter. "How long until the police arrive?"
"6 minutes. They brought thirty people and a police captain is leading them. A military unit is also on their way, but they will arrive in 12 minutes." Winter reported.
"6 minutes?" Arlan's face hardened upon hearing this. It was a good thing for them that the floor on the second floor was made of thick cement. Even armor-piercing bullets would have a hard time penetrating it. They only had to block the staircase and stop the rebels from going up.
Arlan stared at Khalon and Terrence. Khalon was severely injured at the moment and he wasn't in his peak state. Meanwhile, Terrence couldn't even properly hold the pistol in his hands. "You two check the windows. I'll hold the stairs!"
Khalon nodded his head. He then moved to the closest window to take a look at the situation. Terrence was scared, but he also followed Arlan's instructions.
Arlan was sweating profusely as he aimed his pistol at the staircase. His forefinger was already touching the trigger. He was prepared to pull the trigger if the rebels enter his sight.
Weeeeooooweeeeooohhh!
Arlan's eyes lit up upon hearing this. "The police are here!"
"Boss, the rebels are trying to escape!" Khalon reported after seeing the rebels scrambling towards their vehicles. They didn't even bother to take the corpses of their comrades.
"We're saved! I thought I was gonna die..." Terrence leaned on the wall as he grabbed his chest.
The civilians who were hiding on the second floor were also relieved after hearing the police sirens.
"Winter, please delete the footage. I don't want to be interrogated at this moment." Arlan said to the communicator.
"Alright."
Soon, the police, the army, and the medics arrived. The army locked down the city to prevent the rebels from escaping. The police and the investigators gathered the evidence at the scene.
"My son! Where is my son!?" Senator Manuel Chavez stormed inside the bar and searched for his son. He had a distressed look on his face when he saw the bloody scene.
"Senator, please calm down. We have already taken your son to safety. He is currently being checked by our medical team." A police officer came to pacify the senator.
Senator Manuel Chavez took a deep breath as he took a seat. "Thank god!" He muttered.
"Senator, according to your son, someone protected him during the incident." The police said.
Senator Chavez nodded his head. "Where is my son's benefactor?" He asked.
