I Became A System

Chapter 52 - Challenge

At the shocking situation, everyone who saw Ellena took became interested in her. Since she was obviously showing some extraordinary strength for a female, it is also surprising that she was still a Bronze Ranker at this moment.

However, the people who think they know what's happening thought of it as something laughingstock. They assumed that it was clearly her ability that made her carry those bags with ease.

Despite those, the staff of the guild accommodated her with respect since it's been a while that they've seen an adventurer with such contribution just in one day.

'This will surely raise her achievement.' The staff thought while he cleared a path for Ellena.

The receptionist that attended Ellena earlier was left baffled, yet in awe since she wasn't really expecting that it will take her just a day to come back.

As soon Ellena presented the bag of materials and proof of completion, she surrendered those then another staff counted it.

The staff asked for the quest information and joyfully, the receptionist gave it.

"Oh heavens! Just how much did this adventurer take to hunt this. Did you not hired people to do this for you?" The staff asked in disbelief.

"Of course not, you can rest assured. While I am just a girl, I can still slay that number of monsters. Based on my records, please fairly judge it." Ellena remarked.

"Well then."

However, from afar, an adventurer who was making a self-satisfied face earlier was now gritting his teeth. Just after Ellena requested a quest, he made a bet that she won't come back completing the quests. Instead, to his horror, she returned in just 8 hours!

'Why is this bitch here! There's no way that I am wrong! It is obvious that she just hired some goons to do it for her, then show off by lifting it using her rune.' He cried inwardly.

People at the adventurer couldn't help but talk about it. More of it, it made the adventurer more irritated by the happenings.

"What a tremendous prowess she have if she just completed it in a day."

"That's right. Earlier, I saw here being given plenty of quests, who would've thought that she could do such feat."

The staff was still analyzing the bag. While the receptionist was recording everything then stamped Ellena's card, the adventurer can't hold it anymore. He stepped forward, violently complaining about it.

"Why is this accepted here! While we are working hard to raise our ranks and earn, she was hiring someone just to raise her records in achievements and contributions!"

The adventurer ignited a ruckus, fueling some of the doubts of the adventurer.

A while later, they made up the courage to also complain about it, leaving Ellena speechless.

Aaron who was flying above Ellena just groomed under his jaw as if he has a long beard. Acting like an interested elder man, he thought inside him.

'Hoo... how will Ellena fix this? I assume that those lessons will be not wasted.'

There is also excitement inside Aaron who was witnessing the scene.

"That's right! That's an obvious abuse of wealth! Isn't the guild neutral!"

"There's no way a kid could do that much, she just bought it."

"Stupid, who could do that feat if not those high-ranking rune owners. And as far as I could remember, no one is present in this city as the grandchildren of the lord already left the county."

Ellena was just dumbfounded by their words. Unable to act, she was left speechless. Since this is a matter for the guild, she just sighed in dispirit.

"See? Others agree with me." The adventurer who was confident earlier made a satisfied face again. Since he thinks that he already made up the tide to his favor, he placed his guild card at the receptionist desk.

"I bet my membership to be revoked if she did it on her own."

Everyone was surprised by his remark. No one in the right mind would do that since being revoked also mean being unable to register again.

However, that adventurer is renowned for being prideful to his knowledge. Or so-called knowledge since he was always spouting things as if he knows everything.

'I am still the best.' He inwardly remarked in full of confidence.

The staff, confused by the situation intervented at the epicenter of the commotion.

"Please refrain from betting. This is supposed to not result in a mess. As you mister complains about it, please just made a report of it so that we could investigate it. And regarding the young lady's quest, we will post temporary completion of it. How does it sound?" The staff said as if it was fair.

The adventurer just did a smug face, "Well... it's okay for me. But make sure to make it fair. As we are working our ass out of everything."

"That's bullshit."

Aaron was taken aback, but it wasn't for surprise, but in amusement rather. He never thought of Ellena being aggressive, he just thought that Ellena will make things flow calmly.

"W-what? B-bullshit?" Astounded by Ellena's bluntness, the staff, even the bystanders were surprised.

Who would think that it won't appear fair to this girl?

"It isn't fair. That's merely assumptions and I must be affected by it?" Ellena sneered.

"But it is the rules of the adventurers' guild." The staff proclaimed.

"It really is, but it's a waste of time for me. Instead, why don't we make it really fair."

"What do you suggest?"

"What's that guy's rank?" Ellena pointed to the one who made the complaint first.

Surprised of it, the adventurer moved a little before saying his sentiments. "What do you need?"

Ellena just smirked in excitement. There must be inside her, feeling joyous of the situation.

Aaron, who noticed it just can't think of a reason. Perhaps Ellena likes playing with people's emotions? It's possible, but Aaron can't think of it as the primary reason.

Little did they know, Ellena was exploiting the situation to satisfy his thirst inside. Thirst for a fight. Since she really wants to test herself and not be ignorant by little advantage, she wants to fight the adventurer.

"Just say it. It's not even a big deal." Ellena said in a tone of irritation, as a result, the adventurer was affected by it, making him furious too.

"I'm silver!"

"Silver... does this mean you can do what I just did earlier? You can complete 7 quests in one go?"

"Stupid! Why would I complain if I can do it? It's obviously impossible for a bronze ranker like you so I complained."

"Okay... But you can at least do it right?"

The adventurer felt confident at that question of Ellena. Even with being cautious of Ellena's scheme, he confidently exclaimed.

"Yes, of course! But not to a level that I can do it in one day. Perhaps 3 days!"

"Oh... I see. Then I challenge you for a fight. If can win, it means I have the ability to do the quests right?"

Dumbfounded, the adventurer widened his eyes. That was certainly a baffling remark for a Bronze ranker, challenging a senior.

However, since the adventurer has confidence in himself, and mostly got his ego to grow, he grinned then accepted the challenge.

"Alright! I accept! If that's what you think, I will surely make you realize your mistakes!"

Just witnessing it, Aaron laughed inside as he found it interesting. Ellena being aggressive is something unusual since the beginning.. She's supposedly calm but her personality right now became more fixed, finding short ways to fix things.
