Chapter 301 - Lightning Affinity
"Master…"
A big frown hung on Fenriri's face as the criticisms and curses directed at Albion entered her ears, and the good mood brought by the delicious spirit food vanished without a trace.
Even so, Fenriri waited patiently for her master's orders instead of recklessly taking action on her own.
If Albion ordered her to rip out the mouths of the noisy elves, she would do so immediately, or at the very least, attempt so.
However, Albion did no such thing.
"I'll be back," Albion stated with a gloomy look.
Shortly after, he dashed off the outside balcony and landed on the heavily congested streets of the elf tribe with a heavy thud.
The elves were immediately startled by Albion's sudden appearance as he scanned the crowd for the ignorant elves that cursed him the loudest.
"You, you, you, and you! Shut up, shut up, shut up, and shut up!" Albion pointed at them one by one with a domineering flair.
However, his handsome face only commanded admiration and not obedience.
They looked at him with a frown before one of the male elves spoke, "Was there something wrong with what I said? The Dark Lord is a bastard. How dare he make our World Tree suffer like this?"
As the male elf spoke, his eyes narrowed with doubt as he looked at Albion.
"Hm? You look a little unfamiliar. There's no way such a handsome elf like you would have remained unknown in the tribe after all these years…"
"Don't tell me… he is the Dark Lord?!" another male elf exclaimed.
In that instance, the surrounding crowd all glared at Albion fiercely like they were mortal enemies who could not share the same sky with him.
Death to all who bring harm to their sacred World Tree – was what they thought.
However, a True Immortal was not someone that anyone could just disrespect and humiliate. With a single glare from Albion, the elves were intimidated.
"So what if I am? You all got a problem with that?!"
"N-no problem!" the elves cowered.
"Hmph, I thought not!" Albion snorted before gazing up at the sky.
Although he had no idea why the Heavenly Tribulation arrived, if there's any chance that the Heavenly Tribulation came for him, he would have no choice but to face it.
A Heavenly Tribulation at twofold power wasn't something the World Tree could endure.
Unseal!
With a single thought, Albion released the seal on his cultivation and kicked up a storm of spiritual energy as they rushed towards his body.
His blonde hair immediately grew long and white by at least 10 feet, leaving only the tips blonde and fluttering in the wind while his entire body shined with a sacred glow as it enjoyed the baptism of rich spiritual energy.
In a short instance, Albion was filled with spiritual power.
All the nearby elves were pushed back by the sudden surge of spiritual energy as a cloud of dust obscured their visions and forced them to look away.
Pak, pak, pak!
After a series of slapping sounds, Albion's knees bent like springs before he catapulted himself into the skies, disappearing into the World Tree's crown.
The dust quickly settled before the noisy elves that cursed Albion the loudest could all be seen wailing on the ground with swollen cheeks, both men and women without exception.
"Aiyo—! My cheeks…!" the elves cried.
When the rest of the crowd discovered them, they were immediately startled as they did not see what had happened.
"W-What happened to you guys?" an elderly elf asked with a dumbfounded look.
"I-I think the Dark Lord slapped me! Aiyo, my cheeks sting so much! What kind of man is he to hit a woman?" a female elf complained while touching her swollen cheeks.
As that happened, the crowd thought that it was already fortunate that the Dark Lord didn't kill them.
Although no one saw it, the elves were precisely slapped multiple times by Albion before he departed the area.
He was just that petty.
…
…
…
It didn't take long before Albion shot past the clouds of smoke and scorched branches and ascended to the top of the World Tree.
The rift in the sky and the Heaven Tribulation descending from it could be clearly seen up close and personal.
"I'm here," Albion stated in a low tone.
One half of the World Tree was still filled with lush and vibrant green leaves, but the other half had been scorched black without a trace of them left.
Its state was beyond miserable.
After inspecting the World Tree, Albion glanced up at the grey clouds of the Heavenly Tribulation within the rift in the sky with a solemn look.
The thunderous clouds rumbled, and the next lightning strike was imminent.
"Are you sure this Heavenly Tribulation came for me?" Albion asked with a frown.
Power gathering inside the Heavenly Tribulation made him feel threatened. It seemed as if it could eradicate his existence in an instance.
"Even if it didn't come for you, it must have come because of you!" the World Tree's spirit immediately accused Albion.
"We are both True Immortal-level existences living in a world that cannot accept our existences. It was still fine when we hid our powers, but the heavens must have detected us because we were too close to each other!"
"Are you trying to say it's all my fault and that the heavens is forcing us to ascend?!"
Boom!
The Tribulation Lightning descended without warning, striking Albion's unprepared body directly before proceeding downwards and striking the World Tree shortly after.
"Ahhh!"
"Ahhh!"
Two cries were immediately heard, but one was filled with pain and misery while the other was simply startled.
A weird expression was shortly hung on Albion's face.
Ding!
<Your affinity with lightning has been improved>
<Your control over lightning has been improved>
<Your body has been tempered by lightning>
<Your soul has complete immunity to lightning damage>
…
Although Albion's body was completely unscathed, his clothes disintegrated without a trace and left his body bare for all to see.
The spirit of the World Tree saw Albion's state before it was enraged.
How could the True Immortal be unscathed when he wasn't? The True Immortal must have dodged the lightning strike at the last moment and made him tank the full brunt of it again!
"Argh! True Immortal! I, Woody, cannot live under the same skies as you! If I survive this ordeal, you better screw the f*ck as far away from me as possible! Otherwise, I will fight you to the death!" said the spirit of the World Tree, Woody.
Albion relished in the benefits brought by the Tribulation Lightning before a big smile hung on his face as he looked down at the World Tree favorably.
The Heavenly Tribulation was simply a blessing for him.
"Did you say your name was Woody? Hahaha, don't say that." Albion laughed and said, "I think we can become the best of friends. At the very least, I will make sure to come and greet you every morning when I see you standing tall and strong!"
"The hell did you mean by that? Are you trying to make fun of my name?!" the spirit of the World Tree roared angrily.
"Haha, it's fine if you don't get it," Albion chuckled.
