How To Be A System (Dummy-Proof Edition)

Chapter 107. You Never Asked~

Chapter 107. You Never Asked~

Alicia read through my message and asked."Then, what stage am I currently at?"

[You’re currently at the peak of Martial Grandmaster realm.]

She asked, “Why did you use the martial arts realm name when talking of Martial Grandmaster stage but used the cultivation realm name when talking about Qi Refining stage. Can’t you be more consistent when talking about the cultivation realm?”

[It’s because the martial arts path has a much more detailed strength division in the early stage, while the cultivation path has a more detailed strength division at the later stages.]

Well, actually it’s because Ren Qingquan followed the cultivation path not long after he reached the Martial Saint realm. So, I just got used to calling it Qi Refining realm rather than Martial Saint realm.

Of course I won’t blatantly say so to Alicia. That’s why I give her that excuse I thought of at last second~

After our short conversation, she closed the message screen and looked around. Currently, everyone is probably waiting for Alicia to stop talking to herself.

I saw her enter thinking mode as her eyes darted around. Then, she quickly opened the system map and observed the surroundings.

Tracing her finger on the screen, she marked one of the high density zombie areas slightly more than one kilometers away from her current location.

Based on what I could see through [Scan]. Before the apocalypse began, that building should’ve been used as an office.

There are thirteen floors to the building, which is often considered an unlucky number by superstitious people. It’s not like I am a superstitious person, or a superstitious system. But, I somehow feel the need to mention it. Mainly because that building is quite unlucky to be one of the locations where Martial Grandmaster level zombies reside.

Except for the Martial Grandmaster level zombie, there are eight Martial Master level zombies, dozens of Martial Apprentice level zombies, and hundreds of mortal level zombies that’s slightly weaker than the average human on that building.

Luckily, that building only has a lift and emergency stair as the means to move between floors. With the electricity out and the zombie’s limited intelligence, they don’t have the ability to open the emergency stair’s door. Which means most zombies are separated on different floors.

This building is basically a dungeon that includes mobs, elite monsters, mini bosses, and a last boss.

There is also another important point that’s probably the main reason Alicia chosen that building.

On it, I detected several humans that hadn’t turned into zombies. They are pretty lucky to have not met that Martial Grandmaster level zombie staying on the fourth floor.

Except for saving the humans, I guess Alicia wishes to test her current power and cull the amount of high level zombies before the two week to a month deadline I talked about passes.

Well, that sounds quite right.

I nodded at my own analysis. It seems I am still as smart as usual.

Then, I begin to compare the overall strength of Alicia’s group and the zombies inside the building.

From my calculation, even the overall strength of the floor where that Martial Grandmaster level zombie resides is slightly weaker than Alicia’s group.

If I include the zombie’s intelligence that’s even lower than Ren Qingquan. Her group should be able to handle the zombies without any casualties.

Furthermore, if they bought some of the things I sold in the system shop, like medicinal pills and talismans. Alicia’s group could easily curbstomp the enemy. Of course at that time, the cost will outweigh the benefit.

After calculating Alicia’s safety, I watched as her group ran toward that building. Along the way, she consciously passes through several areas with high zombie density.

Thanks to the group’s overwhelming powers, they easily slaughtered every zombie group they met. The group has also allowed the Student Council President to kill three Martial Apprentice level zombies. But, as the amount of points he gathered is still below 1, I only sent several notifications that he gained 0 points.

By the time Alicia’s group has reached the office building, she has gathered 40 points. That’s already excluding the points wasted from the student council president’s kills. Otherwise, Alicia could’ve almost gained 50 points.

It ain’t much but it’s honest work.

Standing in front of the building, everyone on Alicia’s team stared in front of them. From the building’s shattered glass entrance, they should be able to see dozens of zombies standing in the lobby. Most of them wore tattered office clothing while there were two female zombies wearing receptionists like clothes and two zombies wearing security guard clothes.

Except for one of the security guards that has reached the Martial Apprentice level and one of the receptionists that has reached Martial Master level, the other zombies are weaker than normal humans.

While they stood in front of the door, I tried to hold the urge to send a nonsensical notification like ‘You’ve found an unknown dungeon’ or something along the line.

I could only hold that weird urge after Alicia had finished rechecking the first floor’s condition through the map and nodded to everyone.

With her nod, student council president, Renald, Edward, and the others used the metal bar they got from god knows where and pushed away the bigger sized shattered glasses.

There is also Berth who has decided to join the expedition. She gently pushes both of her hands forward ,which soon created a strong gust of wind. That wind easily pushed the remaining small debris and opened a path clean from glass shards.

The noises they created seemed to have awakened the zombies inside the first floor as they all slowly marched toward Alicia’s group.

The scene of Alicia’s group who stood in the entrance while holding metal pipes. Coupled with a group of zombies that roared as they bravely marched forward. Would make the scene look like a gang war.

If only one of the side isn’t consisted entirely of zombies with rotten bodies.

While most of the zombies slowly walked towards Alicia’s group, the receptionist zombie quickly approached. Just like a  train, she sprinted while generating dust around her. A few meters behind the receptionist, the Martial Apprentice stage security guard followed her.

Alica who saw it quickly stepped forward and activated her telekinetic power.

From the energy flow I could see, Alicia has generated a wall that’s full of spikes in front of her. That wall also took root on the floor, which greatly stabilized it.

When the female receptionist zombie arrived in front of Alicia’s invisible wall, I could see her still madly dashing toward it and smashed head first with the wall.

Then... Well, there is no then.

The receptionist quickly got priced by the dozens of invisible spikes as blood mixed with some rotten mucus seeped out from her body.

Soon, the zombified security guard followed after her footstep and found himself pierced by dozens of spikes.

Seeing the most dangerous threat has died, Alicia launched the invisible spikes that’s attached on the wall made out of telekinesis force toward the surrounding zombies.

After the dozen or so zombies had died, Alicia sat on the ground while taking several deep breaths, a drop of sweat can be seen on her forehead.

Seeing that, I am actually a bit curious. Although Alicia’s energy level is around the same as a Martial Grandmaster. But, her combat power is quite low compared to Martial Grandmaster from the Martial Arts world.

Actually, it’s not just Alicia. Both humans and zombies are slightly weaker than martial artists of the same level. If I must say, they are only around the level of those beasts in the Martial Arts world.

Except for the ability gained by awakening which makes them slightly more versatile than martial artists, they’re weaker than martial artists on an overall level. Especially their physical ability.

Is it because they have just gained supernatural power and haven’t got enough time to create a training method and technique? Or is it simply the difference between a physical path and a magician-like path?

This somehow makes me anticipate the moment when Alicia purchased and trained in Martial Arts technique. Also, should I try to craft a cultivation methods and techniques for awakeners?

Although I am tempted to do so, there is simply too little sample for me to create a useful method. I’ll try it later once Alicia has purchased a martial arts technique and trained in it.

With a sample that shows the difference between life energy which the awakener used and the vital energy that martial artists used, I will be more confident to craft a suitable method.

While I am busy thinking, Alicia’s group has walked towards the second floor and begun their killing spree. Right now, there are only two zombies at the Martial Apprentice stage left on the first floor.

Alicia stared at the Student council President and pointed at the two incapacitated Martial Apprentice stage zombies. “Try to kill them and see whether or not your points will increase this time.”

The student council president nodded and used his metal bar to pierce through both of the zombie’s heads.

As this time the amount of points he gathered has reached 1 point, a notification automatically arrived in front of the student council president’s screen.

[Ding! You gained 1 point!]

At the same time, a screen also appeared in front of Alicia.

[Ding! You gained 1 point from a sub shelter core.]

The student council president excitedly said, “Miss Alicia, I’ve gained one point!”

“Good!” Alicia nodded before she frowned. “But, the amount of points you gained from killing zombies are several times lower than mine.”

She said, “I could gain 1 point by killing a Martial Apprentice stage zombie. Meanwhile, you need to kill dozens of zombies with varying strength to gather one point.”

The student council president looks confused. “What is the Martial Apprentice stage?”

Alicia replied, “It is the system’s level separation for zombies and awakeners. You could ask the system for further details.”

The student council president nodded and asked me about the level separation. As I don’t want to waste my time, I simply copied the introduction I gave to Alicia and sent it to his screen.

While the student council president was busy reading his screen, Alicia murmured. “ Just how much lower is the student council president’s point gathering efficiency compared to mine? The strength of zombies he has killed is quite varying, which makes it quite difficult to count.”

Hearing her question, I replied.

[The points gained by basic sub core is 10% of the host’s.]

Alicia got startled and looked at the screen, “Why don’t you tell me about it before I wasted those points? If I absorbed it instead of allowing the student council president to experiment, I could’ve gathered nine more points!”

[Ding! The host never asked.]
