Chapter 226 Reaching The Bottom
"Haaa… who could've thought that climbing down a tree would be this difficult." Zack muttered while panting.
He had been climbing downwards fort the past few hours. He knew that the deeper he went, the harder things would get for him.
To reach the absolute bottom, Zack knew that he would have to face a trial of sorts. If meeting Nyx had been that easy, a few brave souls, or idiots, might have managed to get to her easily.
'I wish I knew how much time had passed inside the world of Hikari or what is happening on Earth…' Zack sighed.
At first, he had been hoping that Eva and Mia would take care of the outer world but ever since his memories had returned, Zack didn't think the same.
He instead wanted the girls to stay inside Hikari. At least they knew that they would be facing two other gods instead of the unknown on Earth.
'Speaking of Earth, it should combine with Hikari soon enough. There is no way that the gods can't get a planet like Earth to merge with Hikari easily. After all, its core has resisted mana.'
Zack had experienced the same thing in many lifetimes. He had sometimes recovered his memories whereas there were times he never got to remember anything.
He had long since realized how gods functioned as well as some of the motives they had.
Looking at the remainingportion of the tree he had to cover, Zack felt like flying down.
Sadly, the moment he would lose contact with the world tree, he will end up in a random world that might not be connected with the events of what was happening in the other side.
'This is why I like the dark side. They somehow manage to have less restrictions placed upon them when compared to the light side.'
Zack resumed his climbing to the bottom of the world tree while cursing those from the dark side…

On Earth, things had started worsening. All of the remaining population had been rounded up by the Golden Dusk guild which had started using the center of the Earth as their base.
They were also aware of what Zack and the crew were doing and would've long since attacked them if not for one tiny problem.
They were facing an attack from an unknown enemy!
"You have been killing people for way too long. Its about time that I did something about you all!" Laughter echoed around the sky as lightning struck the base of Golden Dusk.
A man with glowing green eyes and hair of the same color hovered directly above the guild. His eyes were burning with rage, rage he had been hiding for a long time.
"Boss, maybe you should slow down. Don't waste too much of your power here. We still have to go and help Emma so that we can revive your twin with her help." A black-haired girl muttered from the side.
Her face was covered with a mask so no one could tell how she looked. Her appearance was that of an assassin out at night to hunt her prey.
"You are right. I can't waste too much energy on this filthy mongrels." The green-haired man sighed. "I will just keep them at bay and prevent them from getting near Zack and the others.
"But man, I have to say. Fighting immortals, especially stubborn powered ones, is a taxing tax."
"We only have to keep them busy until the two worlds combine, boss. It shouldn't take more than a day or two for that to happen." The black-haired girl reminded calmly.
"If you weren't here, I would've long since went into enemy ranks and tried to slaughter them." The man smiled.
"I know. Anyways, a few low tier gods belonging to the dark side are approaching us. Get ready to fight them."
"I see…" The green-haired man looked at the girl one last time. "Are you sure that you will be safe from them? Even though you have shifted to the light side, they could still pull a dirty trick."
"It doesn't matter whether they can do something or not. What matters is the fact whether they will do something."
"That's is true well. They will need to exhaust a lot of resources on that and unless Apep himself does something, you will remain safe. I am sure he will try to use you as bait once everyone realizes who you are." The greem-haired man pointed out.
"I already have something prepared against that. Now go and fight those low tier gods." The woman shrugged it off.
He didn't to hear the same thing twice. The man shot away with a grin on his face, his powers crackling around him.
Some low level gods were definitely going to vanish from Earth.

"Phew, finally reached the bottom." Zack sighed in relief as he could finally see the bottom of the world tree.
The roots sprawled below for who knows how long. No living being, immortals included, could touch the roots of the world tree.
The only one who was allowed to do that was Nyx, who had given the same ability to her companion dragon.
'One dragon chews on the roots while the eagle destroys things from the top. Truly a miracle that the world tree hasn't already collapsed.' Zack mused.
He suddenly let go of the tree. The world around him started shaking before turning into a new place.
Zack found himself standing on solid ground, surrounded by darkness on all sides. This was the bottom of the world tree.
This was the lowest place any living being could reach. The true lowest point was the end of the roots but that were unaccessible by humans.
Zack took a deep breath and let the darkness surround him completely. His vision went black as well but Zack wasn't afraid of it.
He had experienced the same thing before numerous times and his heart had pounded wildly most of those times.
But right now, Zack was in the embrace of his mother. He was in embrace of the pitch darkness of night.
