Chapter 73: Heavenly Palace
Chapter 73: Heavenly Palace
"Ohh, summon?" Ayaan looked at the emotionless face of Armori in confusion, "May I know why the king wants to see me?"
"How would I know what is going in the king's mind?" Armori replied with disinterest.
Ayaan didn't believe him that he didn't have any idea why the king had summoned him. Anyways, he was himself curious about his father-in-law and knew that he had to meet him sooner or later; so he decided to make a visit. Furthermore, he knew that he couldn't refuse the man even if he wanted to.
By his side, Noor and Rebecca were also present. Rebecca didn't have any particular reaction after hearing that the king had summoned but Noor became incredibly nervous. Ayaan looked at her and gave a reassuring smile and went with Armori.
"Don't worry, even if your father wanted to hurt him, he won't be able to do that," Rebecca said with a confident tone.
Her confidence wasn't based on her feelings for him. She knew how incredible Ayaan was and didn't use his full power in the previous battle. He still had his undead army which could easily destroy this whole kingdom, even the king had to run for his life at that time.
Although after hearing Rebecca, Noor was surprised but, later, she lowered her head, whispering, "I wasn't worried about that."
Rebecca smiled, hearing her whispering, "Don't worry, I don't think your father will ever be able to find a better son-in-law than him. If he still couldn't see how special Ayaan was after the battle in the palace then I will doubt your father's capability as a king."
In the meantime, Ayaan arrived at the palace. He looked around and didn't find any trace of yesterday's fighting. The building which had been destroyed in the fight was looking as good as new.
Without lingering any further, he followed Armori. They passed through the corridor and many guards saluted Armor while looking at Ayaan with eyes full of curiosity.
After walking around five more minutes they arrived outside the huge gate. Armori looked at Ayaan and said, "Go inside."
Ayaan didn't look concerned and entered the gate. He looked and saw seats were placed in a vertical line. At the front was the throne which was higher than the rest. On the throne, a man was sitting, looking at Ayaan with his piercing eyes. Ayaan himself was curious about the man. He had heard that he was poisoned by his enemies but Ayaan could tell at the first glance that he wasn't poisoned.
Was he acting all this time? Ayaan didn't know and he didn't care. He was here only because of Noor or he wouldn't even give a glance to the man. He was too lazy.
Eventually, Ayaan looked at the man and smiled before walking in front of the man and greeting, "Hello, your majesty."
The man looked at Ayaan and squinted his eyes, he didn't see any nervousness or fear on the boy's face which came as a surprise to him. Furthermore, when Ayaan spoke, he could tell it was the voice of a confident person who was talking with his equal, not his superior.
"You aren't too bad," finally, the dignified voice of the man entered into Ayaan's ears.
Hearing the praise, Ayaan smiled and said politely, "Thank you, your majesty."
Afterwards, Alexander didn't speak any nonsense and went directly to the point, "Did you hear about the Heavenly Palace?"
Ayaan looked at the man and asked in confusion, "What heavenly palace?"
A surprised look appeared on the king's face when he heard that Ayaan didn't know about the heavenly palace. He believed that someone as powerful as Ayaan must have heard about the heavenly place but here he was, clueless.
"Heavenly palaces appear every five years in all the four areas, eastern, western, southern and northern. There are many treasures and legacies in that place. I want you to guard my daughters when they go to that place." Alexander explained calmly.
Subsequently, Ayaan looked at the man on the throne in confusion before questioning, "If you want to protect your daughters I think Amori is more powerful than me. Then why me?"
"If I could, of course, I would, or I myself would go with them. But In that place, no one above twenty could enter. Not even Archmage could break its defences," The man replied without showing any expression.
When Ayaan heard the reason, only then he understood. It was not like they didn't want to enter but no one above the age of twenty could enter the heavenly palace.
"So, what type of treasures and legacies I can get from the heavenly palace?" curiosity was flickering in Ayaan's eyes. He never but he didn't think that it could provide better resources than his planes. And about legacies? He could purchase any magic formula and spell from the system. But he was still curious about the place.
"Once there was a man who was able to get the magic formula of sky rank," as he spoke, the respectful expression appeared on the man's face. 'It seems the man who got that magic formula is some big shot in the present time.' Ayaan was able to guess the story after looking at the king's face.
However, after learning that the sky rank formula was the highest someone got from the place, Ayaan became disappointed. In his eyes, the sky rank magic formula was nothing but trash.
He looked at the man and asked, "I think there will be many talented people in the heavenly place in which there will be no shortage of great mages. Do you think senior mages like Noor and Isobel would be able to get something from that place? They aren't even high mages yet. There are treasures in that place, so there will be battles. You think two senior mages would be able to get anything from such a place?"
"That is the reason why I am sending you with them. If you don't want that is alright with me as well. I can still send them with any other group or with the disciples of some sects. But I don't know if they will protect or abandon them in the deadly situation." a cunning smirk could be seen at the corner of Alexander's lips.
He knew that Ayaan loved his daughter. After doing his investigation, he was able to guess Ayaan's personality and knew that Ayaan would never let go Noor in that place with some random people.
Though Ayaan knew the man was playing with him. He didn't have any other choice. No matter what Ayaan won't let Noor go with some unknown people. After all, Noor was a beautiful lady who knew what those horny men would do if they got the chance. As he thought, cold sweat appeared on his temple.
"Alright, I am ready to go with them but I would like to bring one more person with me." Ayaan didn't think much before replying, because he knew there was no choice. His father-in-law was such a bastard after all.
After hearing Ayaan's request, the king frowned a little but still agreed with him, "Alright. I suppose you want to take your little girlfriend?"
Hearing the man's question, Ayaan just smiled awkwardly but didn't reply.
The king saw his awkward expression and didn't press any further, "You can go now. After two days, we will set out for Life City."
After hearing the name of the Life City, a surprise expression appeared on Ayaan's face. Because that was the headquarter of the Life Temple. He didn't expect that the heaven place would appear there.
He knew that he had to be rather careful when he arrived at the city because there were people who knew he was a necromancer. He wasn't afraid of trouble but at that time, the three ladies will be also with him and he wasn't sure that he would be able to fight all those priests all alone.
Furthermore, they had a few Archmages and their leader was said to be at the peak of the Archmage. That was a scary level for the current Ayaan.
The change of expression didn't go unnoticed from the king. He said, "You don't need to worry about being exposed in the city."
As he heard the voice of the man, Ayaan's felt as if thunderstruck him, but he immediately controlled his expression and looked at the man on the throne, "What are you talking about?"
"You don't need to pretend. I already know that you were the one who killed three disciples of the Life Temple." Alexander spoke casually.
Ayaan squinted before asking, "What do you mean that I don't need to worry about exposing myself?"
"When the heaven palace appears every five years. There will be a guardian at its entrance who will check the qualifications of the people who want to enter the palace. And the strength of that guardian is unfathomable, no one knows how powerful that man is.
Once there were two archmages who started fighting in front of the entrance of the heavenly palace and in annoyance that guardian just waved his hand and both the Archmages turned into nothing but ashes. At that time, that guardian established the rule that when heaven palace appears anyone could enter it and whoever would dare to cause trouble, will be killed, no matter he is, without exception."
Ayaan was surprised after hearing the story. He was wondering how powerful that man must be to be able to kill the Archmages by just waving his hand. Anyways, he wasn't even Archmage so he didn't think much about the guardian's power. He will reach that level one day as well.
"You can leave now, and get ready to go two days later." the king languidly said.
