Chapter 186: Florida Man Traumatizes Prototype Killing Robot by Locking It in a Truck With Closed Windows Overnight Under Blazing Summer Heat
Felix drove back to Balicano City under the cover of night. Along the way, his truck rumbled past clusters of refugee camps scattered along the roadside. Most of the migrants were huddled around makeshift fires, resting for the night. By the time Felix reached the city gates, the clock had struck midnight.
Half of the paladins had remained behind in Balicano to safeguard the city fortress, with Cornelia overseeing order and ensuring the safety of the civilians. She was patrolling the fortress when she noticed the familiar rumble of Felix's truck. Surprised to see him back so quickly, she hurried to meet him as he stepped out of the vehicle.
"You're back already? What happened? Did something go wrong? And where are my people?" Cornelia fired off her questions, glancing at the back of the truck for signs of her paladins.
Felix laughed, holding up a hand to calm her down. "Slow down, lady. One question at a time. Everyone's fine. I already sent them to my territory. I'm here to pick up more people or supplies that need hauling."
"Already?!" Cornelia's jaw dropped. "That's so fast! My army's magic carpets haven't even returned yet. Are you telling me your metal beast travels faster than our carpets? Or does it move at the same speed we can fly?"
Felix frowned, scratching his head in confusion. He didn't understand what she was talking about.
"What do you mean, 'the same speed we can fly'?"
Cornelia raised an eyebrow. "You know, flying. Can't you do that?"
"Yes, if I'm using a gadget," Felix replied casually.
Cornelia tilted her head in disbelief. "Not naturally? Without a tool or magic item?"
"Nope."
Her confusion deepened. "But you're a fifth-circle mage?"
Felix shrugged, sensing the conversation drifting into unfamiliar territory. "No one ever taught me how. I'm self-taught."
"You're self-taught? But how?!"
Cornelia was shocked. In her life, nobody could improve their magic circle by themselves. Most mages had at least one mentor to show them the way. As for top mages and knights at a higher level beyond the sixth circle or the six-star, it required years of dedication, a solid training method, and all the basics that they had learned from their mentor to propel their strength to another level.
In short, it was impossible to come this far without a mentor!
Cornelia's eyes lit up with intrigue. She believed Felix might either be lying to cover for his mysterious mentor or he never had someone to teach him. But if it was the latter, Cornelia believed she could return his favor.
"That explains a lot. Well then, how about this. I'll teach you flight techniques. It's the least I can do to repay your help."
Felix appreciated the offer but waved it off for now. "Thanks, but let's handle the evac and supplies first. We can talk lessons after I get everyone safely to my territory. Now, what else do you need to be moved?"
Cornelia sighed but smiled. She was a little disappointed that he didn't take her offer, "Fair enough. Follow me. There's something you should see."
"Okay?"
Felix complied. He thought that Cornelia might have a large cargo or something she needed to bring to his floating island.
Cornelia led Felix through the fortress gates and into the citadel, guiding him toward a hidden passage in the castle. After pushing aside a stone trap door, they descended into a maze of underground corridors. Using a torch, they proceeded through the cold and narrow path.
Ten minutes later, they emerged into a vast hall where Brag Swan had hoarded his treasures. Felix's eyes widened slightly at the sight of gold coins, sparkling gemstones, and a collection of ornate artifacts scattered across the room.
Cornelia wryly smiled and pointed at the deepest mountain at the end of the corridor. There was a pile of mana crystals, which mages usually used to boost their mana capacity.
"Oh, just mana crystals…"
Had it been Felix in the past, he would have jumped with joy. But after he had acquired a philosopher stone and expanded the oil refineries, those mana crystals were just cheap changes in his eyes.
Seeing Felix's dull expression, Cornelia was surprised, "I thought you would have liked it. Why? Aren't you interested in the treasure?"
Felix pursed his lips, "Treasures are useful during peacetime, but it's useless for me. No, it can be SLIGHTLY useful for alchemy and ammunition, but that's about it. I'd rather get my hands on something that can benefit our people, like fruit seeds, livestock, or some magic artifact that can produce water."
Cornelia giggled as she and other priestesses could simply create water out of nothingness. Therefore, water-creation artifacts were unnecessary. However, she was glad that Felix thought of the people before materialistic gains.
Impressed by Felix's leadership, magic talent, and empathy, Cornelia hugged him from behind. She whispered.
"I'm glad you are our savior."
Felix snickered, "I'll also be glad if you girls stop seducing me. I'm a gentleman with a righteous integrity. Don't corrupt my poor soul with your giant tits, please."
Cornelia giggled. But instead of listening to Felix, her determination to bear Felix's babies and continue his bloodline grew stronger. She tested him.
"But we're alone right now, Lord Savior. You don't have to be so reserved."
Felix dryly laughed. Half a day ago, this woman was a battle-harden muscular auntie. But now, she acted like a maiden in heat.
"I don't have time. I need to go back to my territory before sunrise."
"Just 10 minutes is enough, my lord."
Felix turned around and stared into Cornelia's eyes. He asked her, "How old are you again?"
"Age is just a number, my lord. Also, didn't you say that I have returned to my prime? My physical age should be around 19 or 20."
Felix thought about it and looked at the pile of treasure. He also recalled that he had left the automaton in the truck alone. Indeed, he didn't have time for pleasure.
But on second thought, Felix considered the trouble he might get if he kept pushing Cornelia away. She might end up holding a grudge against him or might sabotage the new town because he refused her approach.
Since she wanted a baby that badly, he might as well donate one.
"10 minutes, alright?" Felix gave in.
Cornelia was delighted. She dropped her plate armor and clothes to the damp floor instantly.
.
The 10-minute deed took 30 minutes to end. Felix and Cornelia put on their clothes even though they could continue for days.
Unlike Diana or Jiji, Cornelia's endurance surpassed theirs. Her firm body was also addictive when she got on top of him.
The paladin smiled as she sensed the warmth of Felix in her belly. Using her aura technique, she sealed the liquid inside her, preventing leaking.
Felix turned around, "Tell nobody about tonight."
"Of course," Cornelia bowed and lifted her head. "But if you need someone to heal your soul or mental fatigue, please come find me anytime. I will be waiting for you, my lord."
Felix sighed deeply, accepting the fact that he was a sinful cheater. He walked toward the pile of mana crystals and collected them into his inventory. While working, he thought about the consequences and warned Cornelia.
"If one day you really give birth to my child, be sure to tell me. Don't keep it a secret to yourself. I'll tell my wives about it and make them welcome you to my family."
"There's no need for that," Cornelia refused. "My role is your servant. Competing for the mistress title will only harm me and my people. I'd rather be your secret concubine and respect your wives' status."
"Hah."
Felix slapped his forehead, feeling bad again. Distracting his guilty conscience, he stocked the mana crystals until he had no inventory space to collect them. He then returned to his truck with Cornelia.
Upon arrival, they found the nervous automaton sitting in the truck, surrounded by curious tall paladins in gold armor. Despite being a killing machine, it shivered like a scardy cat surrounded by hungry wolves.
As soon as the automaton saw Felix, its lubricant liquid gushed out from its eyes.
Felix was taken aback while Cornelia found it cute.
"What's that thing in the head of that beast, my lord?"
"Ah, that. He's a new trainee. I'm teaching it how to drive, but I doubt it can drive safely. I think I have to drive this batch home myself."
"I see. Well, I'll help you load the supplies."
Cornelia chose to let Felix bring miscellaneous objects home for this trip. The paladin helped carry barrels of swords, bundles of steel spears, arrows, and medieval weaponry. After wrapping them in patches of thick clothes, the back of the truck was full, carrying over 5,000 pounds.
However, this amount was nothing for the modified M939. Even a regular one could handle it with ease.
Five paladins hopped on the back, tagging along for this trip. When everything was ready, Felix prepared to get on his truck. But Cornelia approached him and kissed his lips in front of the crowd.
All paladins squealed, happily surprised.
"…You." Felix stared at Cornelia.
Cornelia winked, "Have a safe trip, my lord. Come back soon."
Felix paused for a moment and glanced around him. Noticing that everybody had seen it, he figured that rumor would soon spread and exaggerate like a fire. Therefore, he might as well return the favor.
He gently grabbed Cornelia's chin and pulled her into a deep kiss, using his tongue. She widened her eyes, surprised by the sudden ambush, but she closed her eyes and welcomed it.
After parting their lips, Felix lightly flickered her forehead.
"Next time, I'll make you stay in bed for the entire day."
"I'll be waiting, my lord."
Felix shook his head again and entered the truck, driving it home.
