Chapter 260: A Mage’s Shopping Spree (1)
"Hoh…So this is the Gold Wing Spellcaster Shop?" Shye muttered while gazing upon the grandeur of the opulent structure crafted from polished marble, its facade adorned with elaborate wing motifs and accents of gold.
'For starters, let's go in…'
Grabbing the golden door handles, Shye entered the shop, prompting heads to turn his way subconsciously.
As his basic mage equipment lacked distinction, people quickly lost interest in him and resumed their activities in the shop.
Fortunately, Shye noticed their gazes, otherwise, he would forget to purchase better quality mage robes again as he was too focused on purchasing skills.
Spellcaster shops like Gold Wing sell almost everything a mage and priest could ever need, including the mage robes, gloves, boots, pants, and hats.
Looking around the shop, Shye appreciated its interior design.
Instead of using warm golden sun rays to illuminate the shop during the daytime, the shop opted to use luxurious blinds to block the sunlight, allowing the subtle yet elegant golden glow of the chandeliers suspended on the moderately high ceilings of each floor to suffuse the entire premises with light.
Beneath the chandeliers were neatly arranged and generously spaced rows of shelves containing various products such as robes, wands, elemental and life staffs, and many more.
On the far left end of each floor were luxurious marble counters with a gold wing carving in the middle.
'Sheesh, Wendy got herself a nice partnership deal, didn't she?' He mused, walking towards the equipment section shortly after.
'Appraisal!'
[Name]: Tailor Marsha's All-rounder Robe
[Tier]: Gold
[Rarity] Uncommon
[Description]: An all-rounder robe made by a tailor named Marsha Hodgkins. Enhances a mage's attributes instead of giving him/her an elemental damage boost.

[Intelligence] + 10
[Wisdom] + 7
[Agility] + 3
[Back] [Exit System]
'Appraisal!'
…
…
Since mage equipment looked light, Shye reckoned that most of them would be comfortable for him to wear, hence, he opted for the ones with bonuses he liked the most.
Ultimately, he ended up with a mixed gold-tier set from different tailors which would provide him with bonuses such as the ones below (including the gold-tier staff he got from the labyrinth):
[Intelligence] + 40
[Wisdom] + 30
[Agility] + 25
Increase [Fire] elemental damage by 15%
Increase [Ice] elemental damage by 15%
Increase [Earth] elemental damage by 5%
Increase [Wind] elemental damage by 5%
Increase [Lightning] elemental damage by 3%
'Not bad for a gold-tier starter set!' Shye inwardly thought, nodding satisfactorily as he placed each piece of equipment inside the spatial shopping basket.
Shye then proceeded toward the skills section.
'Ohh! There's lots of skill books here!' he inwardly exclaimed, excitement prevalent on his face as he enthusiastically checked each skill book.
Naturally, he skipped the basic spells such as [Fireball], [Icicle Spear], [Rock Bullet], and [Blink] as he already had those.
He wanted to purchase a few more common skills for the sake of a wider arsenal, however, he also needed to purchase a few high-damage spells to increase his damage output as it would be hard to rely on a mere quantity of basic spells to slay monstrous creatures which typically possess naturally higher vitality than humans.
If he wanted to be a top-tier mage, it's all about the nukes!
'Hoh…8000 silver coins for a basic spell such as this? No wonder only a select few in the academy had skills upon admission…' Shye thought, as he looked through the skill book of the common skill, [Fiery Wall].
The skill was one of the most common skills of the [Fire] element and since he always purchased level 1 common skills through the system for a modest 500-1500 points, he never truly appreciated the overwhelming advantage he had over others.
Currently, he only had 8,400 points remaining so he thought that it would be better to temporarily use silver coins to purchase skill books.
He had around 850,000 silver coins lying around anyway.
It would be better to use it for self-improvement than let it rot in the inventory.
After all, enhancing his strength would make it easier to accumulate wealth in the future.
Meticulously checking the contents of each common skill book, Shye decided to purchase four offensive spells ([Wind Slicer], [Earthen Spikes], [Ice Rain], and [Blaze Missiles]), two for repositioning ([Spatial Tunnel] and [Quick Teleport]), and another two for protection ([Earthen Wall] and [Ice Wall]).
'That should be a decent arsenal of spells…right?' Shye wondered, reluctantly leaving the common skills section shortly after.
He wasn't satisfied and he wanted to purchase more skills.
Little did he know, once he finished learning all the new skills in his spatial shopping basket, his common skill arsenal would put most mages' (including David and Harry's) arsenal to shame.
The shop was huge. It took Shye around five minutes of walking before arriving at the uncommon and rare skills section.
For starters, he wanted to purchase two offensive uncommon skills and one offensive rare skill.
'Hmmm…since I have the "no-chant" advantage, maybe I should go for the huge nukes with long casting times…' Shye pondered as he flipped through the books,
He was now a bit more experienced in searching for appropriate skills.
Well, there was a good rule of thumb.
It was that those who have longer chants are generally more powerful than those with lesser ones.
Although there was more to it than that, it didn't matter to Shye as he could just pick all the strong ones with long casting times (that would synergize well with his other skills) and instantly cast it to destroy his opponents.
Should they somehow manage to come close to him, it wouldn't matter as well since he was a brute-strength-type warrior in the first place.
Imagining how much of a menace he would be, Shye chuckled evilly.
A few minutes later, he found two skills that he thought would provide him the best benefits.
===
