Fantasy: The Great Emperor Comes Back

Chapter 37

C37 – You Are Thinking too Much!

The oppressive darkness of demonic Qi shrouded everything, instilling fear in all who were present. Tang Nuolan gazed fearfully at the hovering black shadow above.

This must be the Evil Demon responsible for slaying the Spirit Fusion Stage Ferocious Beasts.

“I’ve not savored the blood essence of the Human Clan in ages. Today, you will die by my hand!”

The demon lunged at Mo Changyou, who, in that instant, cast a hand spell. A soft glow emerged, revealing layers of Divine Patterns that had been buried beneath the earth. The once unstable Formation was now being fortified by Mo Changyou.

In that moment, the Formation, spanning tens of thousands of feet, erupted skyward. The Darkness Forest shook violently as the Divine Inscription Formation ascended. Purple divine chains emerged, piercing the Evil Demon’s body and rendering it completely immobile.

“What is this? How do you know of the ancient Formation?” The Evil Demon was astounded. It had waited for tens of thousands of years, and now, there were scarcely any on the continent who understood the ancient Divine Patterns. The Formation trembled. No one could have imagined that Mo Changyou, who appeared so unremarkable, was versed in these ancient Divine Patterns.

“That detail is trivial. What matters is that your physical form has been destroyed. You’re reduced to subsisting on a Spirit Body, feeding on the blood essence of others. How has the once-renowned Evil Flood Dragon of Fallen Ridge fallen so low?” Mo Changyou asked, his voice tinged with a faint smile.

The Evil Demon was taken aback. How had Mo Changyou so easily unraveled all its secrets?

“How did you know I hail from Fallen Ridge?” The Evil Demon was baffled. It had been sealed for eons, and its existence had faded from memory. Its true form was indeed no more.

How had Mo Changyou discerned its identity as the Evil Flood Dragon merely from its Spirit Body?

“The Flood Dragon carcass outside is actually your own. Despite being slain so long ago, its skeleton still glimmers brilliantly. Such a feat is beyond the capabilities of a King Wen Beast. I suspect that only a Ferocious Beast from Fallen Ridge could extend its life by absorbing the blood essence of other beasts,” Mo Changyou explained calmly.

Everything seemed to unfold just as he had anticipated.

Fallen Ridge stood apart from other Forbidden Zones as a renowned top-tier domain. Unlike its counterparts, it didn’t require the absorption of the Human Clan’s blood essence. Instead, they employed a more intricate process to refine the blood essence from within Ferocious Beasts, transforming it into a substance akin to that of the undying. This allowed them to survive for extended periods.

The words of Mo Changyou struck the demonic entity like a bolt of lightning, instilling an ever-growing fear of him.

The truth in Mo Changyou’s words was undeniable. Despite living for tens of thousands of years, the entity found itself utterly manipulated by Mo Changyou.

“Who exactly are you?” the demon questioned, now harboring doubts about Mo Changyou.

It seemed improbable that anyone in such a secluded place could possess knowledge of Fallen Ridge and its true form.

“Do you deserve to know?” Mo Changyou replied coolly, reactivating the Formation. The purple divine chain shot through the Evil Flood Dragon’s Spirit Body. The once shattered Formation now responded to Mo Changyou’s command.

The Evil Demon wailed in agony. It had intended to kill Mo Changyou, but no one could have predicted that Mo Changyou would instead be the one to end its life.

Furthermore, his secrets had been thoroughly uncovered.

Indeed, upon suspecting the Evil Demon’s origins from Fallen Ridge, Mo Changyou had prepared for everything. In his past life, Qi Wenya had indeed been deeply entwined with Fallen Ridge.

He needed to understand the events of the intervening years.

“Memory extraction!” Without pausing for rest and with the Evil Demon now immobilized, Mo Changyou executed a Finger Spell. His potent soul force delved into the Evil Flood Dragon’s consciousness, feverishly scouring for any mysteries related to Fallen Ridge.

Regrettably, he could only determine that Qi Wenya had visited a few times, without uncovering the specifics of what she had learned. However, he did unearth a remarkable find.

“Heavenly Monarch Fist!”

This formidable technique, etched in the Evil Flood Dragon’s mind, was rumored to have been crafted by the King of Emperors during the Emperors’ Era. Only half of this Fist Technique was available.

Yet, even this fragment was enough to astonish the world. Originating from the King of Emperors’ own research, even an incomplete version had the power to overwhelm the majority of Imperial Arts.

Even his Undying Scripture couldn’t claim complete superiority over this partial Fist Technique.

“This is truly the work of the King of Emperors. If I master the Heavenly Monarch Fist, I’ll be formidable,” Mo Changyou mused, feeling a sense of accomplishment. He had no interest in using weapons; for him, Fist Technique was clearly the superior choice.

Meanwhile, Tang Nuolan was somewhat bewildered by the recent events.

She had assumed the Evil Demon was a concealed top-tier fighter. Yet, it stood no chance against Mo Changyou, who was now perusing its memories.

“Who exactly is this young man?” Tang Nuolan pondered, her curiosity piqued as she watched Mo Changyou, who was carrying her. The Forbidden Zone he had mentioned, among other things, intrigued her greatly.

She considered that, given another chance, her father would surely not forsake that marriage alliance.

As Mo Changyou delved into the Heavenly Monarch Fist, the Spirit Body of the Evil Flood Dragon grew increasingly wild.

“Ah!” It screamed as chains pierced its body, now utterly berserk.

With a ferocious roar, the blood essence it had absorbed from the Ferocious Beasts was now fully ignited. Flames of terror blazed forth. Its eyes fixed on Tang Nuolan, and it abruptly made its move.

It had intended to possess Mo Changyou’s body, but something in its subconscious warned it that such an attempt would only lead to a dreadful demise.
