Chapter 80 Three Hands
Every person, especially a warrior, had his own characteristics, disadvantages, and advantages over others.
Geir was a prime example, his height and muscles gave him tremendous strength, however, that was not his trump card.
"Sorry, Rea, I've been busy moving this heavy pillar, but now, I'm fully prepared to take all the punches!" Geir exclaimed as his body was covered in a bright, golden layer of energy, then a faint glow appeared on everyone else as well.
[You received a buff from a member of your team - Protective Light!]
[Protective Light* - Your defense is increased by 20%. Once every minute, you can block up to 80% of damage from one of the attacks, then, the light will need time to recover].
Zayne clenched his hand into a fist and with a dazed expression looked at Geir, 'Damn, this is incredible. Though Turgan, has lowered our defenses, Geir slightly corrects it, and it looks like we are getting a weaker version of his skill.'
"Alright, now go!" Geir exclaimed vigorously as he rushed forward. Zayne and Roland looked at each other, then followed him.
Step. Step. Step.
Leaving footprints on the red earth, Geir moved straight toward Turgan without any fear. He knew what he was capable of as well as his broad shield.
"Raka!" Turgan exclaimed furiously, gripped the hilt of his cleaver tightly, and brought it down on Geir with all his might.
Crackle.
The sharp blade of the massive weapon collided with the shield, causing a clear clang that echoed off to the sides.
"Rafaaar...?" Turgan muttered in disbelief, staring at his cleaver, which had no way of cutting through the shield, though it had slightly lost its golden glow.
"Looks like you made me lose one of my three chances... your punch is really heavy." Geir smirked, effortlessly holding his shield, "Hey, you should take care of your mates too, shouldn't you?"
Turgan's eyes went wide as two shadows passed beside him. They paid no attention at all to the huge Orc Leader, their target was his subordinates.
"Peka!" Turgan exclaimed, swinging his cleaver sharply behind him, leaving a deep cut on the ground, but Zayne and Roland had already crossed that line.
"Fine, let's deal with these bastards. Every little thing shouldn't get in our way!" Roland exclaimed approaching one of the Orc-Mages.
Zayne nodded silently, lunged forward, and his sword went for the left Orc-Mage's neck.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Whooooooooooooooosh.
At the same moment, Elin launched an arrow at the center one, which flew forward with a whistle.
'I'm not going to lose any more of my mates... I won't make the same mistake as last time!' Roland inwardly exclaimed when his eyes went wide with a shiver across his body.
The staffs of the Orc-Mages exploded as well as one hand on each that touched the staff, then above them, like a ghost appeared an eerie creature.
"RAKARA!!!" The Orc-Mages simultaneously exclaimed, sacrificing one of their eyes, which exploded with blue energy.
Each blast had enough power to throw Zayne and Roland aside and the flying arrow, breaking it into pieces.
Zayne and Roland rolled over the ground and quickly got to their feet, ready for battle.
"What the hell is that...?" Elin muttered, shuddering with fear. She stared wide-eyed in disbelief at the strange creature the Orc-Mages had summoned.
"Fuck... Things always go wrong, right?" Roland said with a bitter smile.
The creature hovered above the Orc-Mages, it had three arms, two of which had open jaws, and the third replaced the head with an eye that scanned the entire battlefield.
"ROOOAAAARRR!!!" The creature roared furiously as from its jaws on its arms came a piercing ringing that made everyone feel a chill in their backs.
[You are under the effect of the Hand Phantom's shout! Now if the Hand Phantom looks at you, you will be immobilized for 5 seconds!]
Whooooooooosh.
At the same moment, Hand Phantom's eye was aimed at Roland as Roland's whole body was covered in a blue veil that prevented him from moving, even a finger.
'No! Zayne! He must go for cover!" Roland inwardly exclaimed as Hand Phantom directed his gaze toward Zayne and lunged straight at Roland with his jaws wide open in his hands.
[The One Who Seeks Fear - Title Activated!]
Crackle.
Scarlet wings opened, covering part of the arena, then a scarlet flash whizzed in front of Roland as the crimson sword severed the Hand Phantom's two arms.
The palms fell to the ground, but that didn't stop them from moving, and they like spiders, quickly twiddling their fingers, made their way toward Roland.
"What a disgusting ability." Zayne snorted as he swung his sword once more, causing the palms to bounce back and return to their former position, joining the Hand Phantom.
"Zayne... How did you do that?" Roland muttered in disbelief.
"Well, let's just say tricks like that don't work on me at all, unless they can scare me, sort of." Zayne shrugged carelessly, then his gaze grew serious, "I think we need to focus on something else now." Zayne pointed at the three Orc-Mages.
"Yeah. You're right." Roland nodded, channeling his mana to his sword and causing it to be covered in a violent wind, whirling ready to tear his opponents apart.
"Raka!!!" Turgan exclaimed, bringing his cleaver down on Zayne and Roland, who were standing with their backs to him, but they didn't even turn around because they knew they had someone to take the hit.
Crackle.
The cleaver collided with Geir's shield again, making the now familiar clang.
"Hey, if you want to fight them, you'll have to go through me first. I assure you, I won't let you do it so easily!" Geir exclaimed, and a golden glint appeared amidst his eyes.
Step.
He stepped forward, and his whole body was covered in yellow energy for a moment as he lunged forward like a buffalo, knocking everything in his path.
"Parokafa!!!" Turgan shouted, trying to stay on his feet under unfamiliar pressure, but Geir was unstoppable.
"AAAGGGH!!!" Geir pushed his shield forward, stopping abruptly and directing all the momentum at Turgan.
Bam. Bam. Bam.
Turgan's massive body rumbled to the ground as his broad back shattered the small rocks beneath it.
"Hehehe, I may not be the smartest, but I know my stuff and how to use my muscles." Geir grinned, taking a deep breath and trying to regain his energy for the next round.
Zayne glanced at Geir, nodded with a slight smile on his face, and lunged forward. Roland followed him.
"Raka!" Orc-Mages exclaimed, asking Hand Phantom for protection, but its eye was closed, so the jawed hands just didn't know where their target was.
Zayne jumped aside, dodging the jaw-hand that flew right at him, then swung his sword and blew one Orc-Mage's head off.
"Die!" Roland exclaimed, killing the second, then he turned and with a wide swing split the last one in two.
The Orc-Mages' bodies fell to the ground, but that didn't lift Zayne and Roland's spirits at all, instead, they frowned.
"Damn... Honestly, I was hoping this joke would go away when they died..." Zayne muttered looking at Hand Phantom.
"Yeah... Me too." Roland gulped.
