Chapter 5957: Old Demon, Come Greet The Young Noble Already
“Young Noble, it’s not that I’m hiding my ability, it’s just not significant enough relative to you. Plus, too much divination will result in ominous consequences.” The daoist explained.
“True.” Li Qiye nodded: “Your branch should have exercised caution instead of spying on the heaven repeatedly.”
“I will not forget your warning, it is a lesson engraved to heart.” The daoist bowed.
He spoke truthfully since his branch had experienced the consequences in the past. In reality, this wasn’t only their Sacred Ancestor’s fault.
Given their conduct and choices in the past, calamities were inevitable. It would have been someone else if not her in due time.
“I see that Radiant Master is having issues, what is happening to Radiant Longevity School?” The daoist said.
Radiant Longevity was the result of two dao lineages combining. It rose back to prominence under the leadership of Radiant Longevity Monarch.
It could have reached the top again but unfortunately, the ambitious cultivator excavated a mecha from the ruins.
The mighty mecha somehow lost control and wanted to drain the world, forcing others to stop it. Emperors were no match for the being and Desolate Ancestor had to be the one to put it down. Radiant Longevity Monarch was killed as well.
The catastrophic setback suffered then was felt even now. In comparison, Insane Gate recovered far better, being at least in the top two among the eight sects in the alliance.
Of course, it didn’t decline to the level of Heaven Calculating Observatory either but their days have been difficult.
Li Qiye didn’t care at all either, closing his eyes and chewing on the blade of grass to relax.
The cart slowly passed a mountain range and something woke Li Qiye up. He took a look at the scenery and noticed something peculiar.
“Over there.” He said.
“What is it, Young Noble?” The daoist stared in the same direction.
“A beast’s presence.” Li Qiye said.
“I don’t sense anything, I must be too weak.” The daoist carefully assessed the area to no avail.
“What is that place?” Li Qiye asked.
“It is Resting Bull Mountain, another of the eight sects. We’ll get to Insane Gate after crossing through it.” The daoist said.
“Ah, Resting Bull Dao Lineage.” Li Qiye stroked his chin.
“That’s the one.” The daoist nodded and could see Li Qiye was interested: “Would you like to take a look, Young Noble?”
“Hmm, I am somewhat connected.” Li Qiye smiled.
“Very well, off we go!” The daoist didn’t miss the chance.
As he added more effort, the ox started running with incredible speed. Each gallop took the cart a thousand miles forward.
It didn’t take long before they made it to the base of the mountain. He started shouting: “Old demon, descend already!”
His voice echoed and alerted the disciples of Resting Bull Mountain. Though far removed from its prime, it still had several thousand disciples.
Some ran down and took a look.
“What is he doing?” A few recognized him.
“He’s the daoist from Heaven Calculating, right? Has he gone mad?” Another said.
“How disrespectful.” A third added.
“Old demon, what are you waiting for?! You must be tired of living!” The daoist ignored them.
His comment infuriated the crowd since it sounded like a command.
“Who is he calling for?” Someone asked.
“Must be our ancestor.” Another had a good guess.
“You’re the one who’s tired of living.” A chilling air came from above, causing the crowd and the daoist to stagger backward.
“Ancestor!” The members of Resting Bull kneeled to pay respect.
An old woman descended, wearing a colorful garment made from feathers. Her mouth was particularly pointy, clearly a demon.
“Old daoist, do you have nothing better to do?” Her eyes turned cold and sharp, causing others to shiver.
She was the strongest ancestor in the sect, hence the crowd’s respect and fear.
“You better have actual business or I will flay you for the transgression.” She glared at the daoist.
“Old demon, come greet the young noble already.” He stood upright and met her gaze.
She was known as Edge Mountain Crone and had a good relationship with the daoist. Although his cultivation was average, his fortune-telling ability was second to none.
Normally, he was an easygoing person but all of a sudden, he turned into a different person exuding an aura of a sycophant.
“Why are you hesitating, he is right here, kneel!” The daoist shouted.
The old demon glanced at Li Qiye and noticed his lack of cultivation. She became annoyed since the whole thing felt like a joke.
The other members were furious. They were a powerful sect in the region and the ancestor was a big shot. This mortal must be tired of living.
