If time could turn back, Xu Chao would never have spent all his energy and time on Zhou Lan. He would have focused on cultivating, at least allowing his shadow to evolve and making himself immortal.

Xu Chao didn't answer, nor did he have the energy to. He slumped into a chair, staring blankly at the ceiling. He wished this was just a nightmare! 

Xu Chao couldn't understand how he had been exposed! How did Qin Jun know where he was? The Qin family experts even called out his name earlier! How did Qin Jun know his name?

He remembered provoking Qin Jun yesterday. Thinking of this, Xu Chao felt even more regretful and gave himself another slap.

Xu Chao stared blankly at his shadow, saying nothing. He had such a bright future ahead. If his shadow evolved, he would be immortal, and no one in the world could kill him.

But he missed his chance. He thought he had plenty of time, delaying cultivation to indulge in pleasures. Now, he wanted to cultivate but had no time left!

Xu Chao's heart was filled with unwillingness. Though he hadn't cultivated much, he had spent a lot of time fantasizing about his future. He dreamed of building a free city, becoming a powerful overlord.

He remembered that morning, thinking it would be an ordinary day in a world full of zombies and dangers. He felt safe and at ease at home. But now, he realized it was his best day, and such days would never come again.

He once had plenty of time. If he had used even a part of it to let his shadow evolve, things would be different. But he wasted it all!

Listening to the noises outside and sensing the Qin family experts getting closer, Xu Chao's mind completely collapsed. He laughed hysterically, then burst into tears. 

Fear, regret, and unwillingness filled his chest. He didn't know how long he wept before finally calming down with a bitter smile.

Zhou Lan, already terrified, thought Xu Chao had gone mad and hid in a corner, far from him. Although she was his woman, she had no real feelings for him, staying with him only to survive. Over time, she had died herself to this fate.

Xu Chao looked at Zhou Lan, his first woman, and felt a surge of anger. If not for Zhou Lan, he wouldn't have wasted time not cultivating. 

But then, he smiled bitterly. He knew it wasn't Zhou Lan's fault; it was his own lack of willpower.

Xu Chao seemed to want to say something, but at that moment, his room's door was kicked open. A burly Evolver charged in, aiming a punch at Xu Chao's head. If it landed, Xu Chao's head would explode!

Xu Chao's shadow moved, entangling the Evolver's arm, stopping his punch. The Evolver sneered, his arm swelling like a hammer, dispersing Xu Chao's shadow. 

Then more Evolvers entered, glaring coldly at Xu Chao. Outside the window, more Evolvers surrounded the building tightly.

They had finally found Xu Chao!

Xu Chao's body trembled violently. The moment had come. So many Evolvers were staring at him and he knew he was doomed!

Then a handsome young man entered the room. The Qin family experts bowed their heads in respect, their faces full of reverence. Qin Jun smiled, looking at Xu Chao. 

Seeing Xu Chao's sweaty, desperate, and fearful face, Qin Jun's heart filled with cold mockery. The Child of Destiny had finally realized the consequences of running his mouth…
