Chapter 22
C22 – Danger!
Despite their massive size, the Swordtooth Tigers were surprisingly nimble and quick. They sprinted through the forest without any hindrance, as if they were unaffected by the dense underbrush.
Even within the trap-laden area, the Swordtooth Tigers seemed to intuitively know where each trap lay, deftly leaping over them time and again!
However, Lee Tian and Green had already sprung most of the traps, leaving only a few smaller ones remaining. Consequently, even when the tigers did trigger a trap, it hardly inflicted any damage.
Lee Tian was fleeing through the outskirts of the forest, directionless and without the luxury of choice. He could do nothing but keep running forward.
Meanwhile, Green moved swiftly through the treetops, keeping a vigilant eye on Lee Tian’s predicament.
Thanks to its vantage point, Green witnessed a startling scene: a band of hunters was also on the move, heading straight toward Lee Tian’s path of escape!
If Lee Tian didn’t alter his route, he was bound to collide with the hunters and end up as an ingredient in their Health Wine.
But how could he possibly change course now?
The Swordtooth Tigers were hot on his heels. If he paused for even a moment, he’d surely be devoured.
Lee Tian found himself trapped between the proverbial rock and a hard place, with hunters ahead and tigers behind.
“Big brother, there are hunters ahead!” Green yelled out to Lee Tian.
But Lee Tian was beyond worrying about the hunters.
Would he be turned into a medicinal brew? Or become a meal for the Swordtooth Tigers?
As he grappled with the grim possibilities, he glimpsed the approaching hunters through the thinning trees. Among them was a stunningly beautiful woman. She moved with ethereal grace, her gaze sparkling, her face as captivating as blooming peach blossoms, her figure as delicate as a willow in the breeze. Her cool, striking aura was that of a celestial being.
His gaze was utterly captivated by this enchanting woman. He stared at her, unblinking, as if a single blink would rob him of the sight of such extraordinary beauty.
“Big brother! Watch out for the pit!” Green’s urgent cry snapped Lee Tian out of his trance, just as he was about to stumble into a gaping pit ahead.
Lee Tian seemed to have lost his soul, utterly oblivious to the warning and the pit lying in wait before him.
It wasn’t until he stepped into thin air that he snapped back to reality.
Crashing heavily into the pit, a jolt of pain shot through him, jarring him awake. The pit was just the right size for his current “little cat” form.
As he landed in the pit, the Swordtooth Tigers outside clashed with the hunter team head-on!
A tense standoff ensued between the humans and the tigers, both sides poised for an imminent showdown.
Meanwhile, Lee Tian, trapped in the pit, overheard the hunters’ conversation.
“Miss Zhou Yuyan, we’ve run into a pack of Swordtooth Tigers! They’re beyond the capabilities of ordinary hunters like us.”
“Miss Zhou Yuyan, our skills are limited; we can’t take you further into the mountains. We should make a quick exit!”
“That’s unacceptable. It’s our young lady’s first hunting foray into the mountains; we can’t return empty-handed. Keep leading the way. These tigers, formidable as they may be, are merely animals. We’ll drive them off!”
“Boss, you can’t just shoo away a pack of Swordtooth Tigers.”
“Enough. We’ll forgo the bounty you’re offering. If you’re not concerned with your own lives, we have families to provide for. Best of luck to you.”
“What do you mean you’re all leaving? If you go, who’s going to guide us into the mountains?”
